******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Well that's a bit of a crap deal, innit....???!!!
Guess I won't be buying AMD for another while, then...

They can't discount much on a pledge price without annoying the existing backers, that's what they'd be doing if they gave away a $45 pledge for next to nothing - which is what AMD pay to the companies involved.

You can set which hangar on the RSI/hangar page if you have access to more than one, Banu MM apparently gets you an asteroid hangar too.

Kablooey, we had issues shooting an NPC in our weekly Elite:Dangerous outing tonight, you were there in spirit lol think I have it on video somewhere..

Asteroid hangar etc look fantastic, I still need to get motion blur off though and input lag is pretty dire even just moving my head about or trying to drive the Greycat. It's pretty.. unoptimised ;)

350R is lovely though.

I know very few people who like the motion blur, personally I could live with it but would prefer it disabled, it's just not realistic. As Chris has said this isn't how brains and eyes work in the real world and it feels utterly unrealistic.

Current order of preference:

Revel & York (Deluxe - Clean, good FPS and does the job.)
SelfLand (Basic - This is exactly as I'd hoped it would be)
Aeroview (OK, like R&Y has annoyingly frequent voice overs)
VFG Industrial (Garbage FPS, like the layout but too damn dark too)

Why do these guys have more finished Advertisements than developed game content?

Advertisements for a game that isn't even 10% finished, what the hell.

They have over 200 people working on it the people doing PR are a small team and they're essentially there to keep the money coming in and keep the others employed longer term. Bottom line we could spit the game out in a couple of months and it'd be Elite:Dangerous (which I love) or they could aim higher, which is what they're doing.

Higher quality in just about every area - hence the longer time developing it, but the info available from Devs is fantastic, you can even chat to them..

Half of us are in Elite already mate, think beta 2 is going to start soon, rumours at the end of the month. I'm hoping SC sorts out the movement soon, although it's part of mo-cap studio work I guess so might be next year.

If you do get on Elite feel fee to hop on our teamspeak server, friday nights tend to me Elite:Dangerous group night at the moment.

LTI is back, got mixed feelings about this. We were told it was dead, never to return then 6 months (even?) later it's back. I'm wondering if they're milking the cash cow as funds are being used up faster than expected.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14159-Future-Concept-Sale-Plans

When a ship’s concept gets ‘final approval’ from Chris, we plan to offer it as a one-week concept-only sale. After that week ends, the ship will not be available for sale until it is ready for use in the Hangar. In addition, we are going to offer several extras available only during the concept period:

The Lowest Price – backing earlier helps the production process the most, so it stands to reason that early backers should get the lowest price for their ships. Future Hangar-ready and flight-ready sales will increase the cost of a ship hull slightly.

Hangar Flare – everyone who backs a concept sale will receive two pieces of Hangar Flare. At launch, you’ll get a poster featuring the ship you’ve purchased to display in your Hangar and when the CryEngine model asset is finished you’ll get the in-game Takuetsu model to add to your collection!

Lifetime Insurance – one of the most common demands of CS is that we offer newly announced ships with cross-chassis upgrades to preserve LTI. While we maintain that Lifetime Insurance is a slight convenience and not a game changer, we know it’s something a lot of backers want. We feel comfortable including it during concept sales of ships which have never been available before (and do not intend to make it available again for existing ships or variants.)

I don't quite follow their logic at all on this to be honest. Future concept ships - fine, I'm shocked nobody has started screaming about the recent Connie variants.

We'll see, they've altered the rules around LTI and transfer that often now that I don't think they themselves know what they are. They also need to start tightening up more on LTI ships on accounts, lock them down when bought etc. On the one hand they want to close the grey market down, but at the same time they limit ship sales and allow account transfers (not just ship transfers).

The grey market was slowly dying until yesterday.

I can see them making a ton from this, personally I'm not interested but may melt ships for one of the later concepts i.e. Carrack. I won't be adding any more money to what I've already spent though.

I have one too mate, it's an Imperator subscription reward, think it's 12 months +

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/faq/subscriptions

The Imperator subscription, at $20 per month, adds the following in addition to the Centurion rewards:

  • Get a single-use 15%-Off coupon for the store after one year of subscription or after purchasing a full year of subscription.
  • Two copies of each digital Hangar item instead of one. Share with your friends!
  • Imperator decal for your ship (you get both Centurion and Imperator).
  • “VANDUUL TEST PILOT” badge allowing access to fly the Vanduul Scythe during the upcoming Dogfighting Module test phase. Each month gives an additional 24 hours of access to the Scythe! (Note this is not available immediately but will be retroactively awarded in the future to all eligible accounts.)

After 12 months you will receive these perks in addition to Centurion and Centurion after 12 months:
  • Create a pirate! We’re populating Spider with NPCs and you will have the right to name one and create their backstory for the official Galactapedia! (CIG reserves the right to edit any content created as part of this perk.)
  • “ADVANCED TEST PILOT” access badge – a single-use token allowing you one day of access to test fly any available spacecraft each month during a future dogfighting alpha test. Includes rare ships and variants! The DFM will launch with a selection of single-seat fighters and add other ships with ongoing patches. (Note this is not available immediately but will be retroactively awarded in the future to all eligible accounts.
  • Year Two Decals for your ships.

Private battles and configurable controls are now in apparently, haven't had a chance to try it out myself yet but hoping to get some fights and shenanigans with fellow OCUK/PAGAN folks soon :)

I'm the opposite I always saw myself as an explorer type but quite fancy some piracy now that I'm flying!

Just tried out Arena Commander for the first time in ages (about a week after AC was first released), massive difference, feels smoother and nice to be able to reconfigure my controls at long last. Found the 350 very easy to control in free flight will have to try out a race at some point!
