No ETA on Star Marine, the last update stated:

...Which doesn't sound like it will be released any time soon.

Multi-crew is supposed to be released by the end of the month though.

No idea on Squadron 42, hopefully someone else will have information on that.

Keep loving it.

The reason is because friends and their families are involved in this project. Also its my career in rather small closely linked art community.

I hope they pull it off eventually but I wouldn't put a single penny more into this as a backer.

Roberts wife was one of the original 15 employees of the company and is credited as the person in control of the most successful kickstarer in history. She also remains the only person dealing with marketing of the game.

As for them suddenly coming into money for the first time that's not true either as he was part of studios sold to ms and ea for substantial amounts. Also the budgets for the WC games were fairly high for there times.

Basicly escapist published a clickbait hatchet job which was only by "coincidence" word for word the same as a blog post by the biggest failure of a space game dev and owner of the oxymoronic surname.
 
Another update on the CIG post, Ortwin has sent a demand letter requesting retraction of the article, an independent investigation and a personal apology to Sandi and th CIG HR manager published on their website.

Silly Escapist....I listened to their podcast last night and some of the accusations, were VERY damning, especially with little to no evidence to back it up....suggesting Sandi is Racist and sends racist emails and also spending backers money on Mansions and Sports cars.......publishing articles saying those kind of allegations without any evidence to back it up is very silly indeed and imagine they will do a retraction to save face, as going to court will be very damaging.
 
More than likely. Not really important but wasn't everyone denying that Roberts was married to Sandi up until recently?

I don't think so? I think the general gist was that people didn't care because it doesn't affect the game. Those that denied it would have more than likely done so because of a lack of evidence.

Staying at the Britannia Ashley Hotel near the airport. I'm just about to book my Megabus down...but before I do I though I should check - is anyone driving down from Edinburgh area have a spare car seat? if not, I'll book.

That Escapists thing kinda put a damper on things but since then my spirits perked back up after I seen some of the discussions. One thing I have always wondered (after becoming informed of how No man's Sky's procedural engine was built using a lot of math and very few people) is why Chris Roberts did not choose an engine design like this for a space MMO. I personally think with a budget like Roberts' and a core engine maths team, a more powerful platform than PS4 (i.e PC) we could see a space MMO that had a vastness of No Man's Sky, but the fidelity, physics and content of what we are being promised in SC.

I'm just waffling, but making an MMO with quintillions of planets with eco system/caves etc (albiet a game with potential less content and game styles) with such a small team seems like much better bang for buck. Maybe No Man's Sky will be crap when it comes out. Maybe SC will. I just can't help wondering...
 
Chris said they're looking into procedural generated content, but it would be only after the game ships.

No Mans Land needs a solid gameplay as well, perhaps some nice story to it, otherwise it will get old pretty quick.

I know they are. I have seen the Frankfurt updates on the channel. To me 'tho, it does sound like a back to front way of doing it on an engine not designed for it. I in no way code engines BTW, so my opinion is as uneducated as they come.

You didn't make a good point, you just spouted a comment that all the click bait media has been banding about including Captain Salty.

I am far from a fan boy of SC and I voice my concerns appropriately and actually do engage in conversations about it but I am sick to death of all the rumored crap that's going on which there is zero solid evidence for and then folks like yourself latching on to it to stir the pot with the hope of being able to say "I told you so" at the end of it all.

If there is any truth behind any of this crap then yes CR and co deserve to be strung up with whatever mess they created... do I blindly agree and argue points for it failing though without ANY evidence.. no I don't. I just want it to work and be as designed.

If you actually want to engage in a conversation like an adult based on actual information then I'm all for it but you need to stop thinking you're on the higher ground because quite simply you're at the same level as the rest of us plebs

I'm sick of his one line smart comments also, it's just childish and he doesn't make an effort to engage in conversation just trying to get a bite is all.

Anyway I was concerned with what the escapist published, yes the article is based on unfounded rumours with no evidence. Even the identity of the sources is questionable as the most recent letter posted above indicates that Cig don't use security passes which the article claims was used to verify identity.

I am concerned about the claim that money is running out and that money is being spent on things like linguists and flashy videos. I think CIG should be more open with their finances seeing has how they are cloud funded and I think that an independent reporter or group should be given access to CIG to write a fair article and also speak to any of these sources that are actually real.
 
I don't like using my ignore list, those who believe what DS has been posting simply won't back the game, but probably wouldn't have anyway so nothing lost. They've read the click bait but haven't bothered researching whether it's true or not, that's not a member of the community I think we'll regret missing out on. I think the DS stuff has helped keep CIG awake though, as much as I think it's a pile of **** it may have a positive in the end.

I don't think CIG should be open about finances, the instant they do that they'll spend far too much time justifying every cent. We backed the game, doesn't give us any rights to see the internal finances of a private company.

Anyway Sal and I from PAGAN are at the Clayton Hotel (formerly bewleys) near the airport this weekend so hopefully bump into some OCUK people at the event or the pubs nearby!
