"Linked" to the project? So not actually working on it?

The games never going to happen, but you can't say why...

Until evidence can be provided, it's just hearsay.

Except that's not true.

Maybe, we'll see. Don't you find it worrying that there was no one in the company that could talk some sense into Roberts before he put his new actress wife into a VP position? This is just one of his amateurish, unprofessional moves, it's the behaviour of a peasant who has just struck gold. I don't think he has bad intentions or that he is a fraud but I do get the feeling that he may be in over his head. Money change people, especially those who are not accustomed to handling lots of it.

I'd say you were right,
Only it's hardly someone who's not been here before.
And to date I wouldn't say his wife's done anything terrible in her role either...

I try and keep as little involved in forum discussions about SC.
Time will tell, and I've not sunk any more money than the minimum into this.

I bought it for the SQ42 alone, and that all seems chugging along nicely for me.

Is his wife doing a good job as VP? Who knows and I really struggle to see what being an actress has to do with anything?

He's handled plenty of money throughout his career not just in gaming but also in movies. It's another comment without any real base.

We have a company who are trying to create something that's not been done on this scale before. Trying to push the boundaries of PC gaming. Will everything they want in the game come off? Probably not. Will it be here tomorrow? Of course not as AAA gaming takes many years.

Sadly we have quite a large number of gamers, some on here, who are desperate for this to fail in some sort of sad "I told you so" way. Yet I hear on a regular basis how there isn't enough quality AAA games on PC that aren't console ports. Strange but not surprising in all honesty.

As for ex employees spilling the beans and telling anyone who cares to listen that this game is doomed, poorly ran and just about every other cliché of a disgruntled jobless dev. Sort yourself out.

It's a large company and in this industry people come and go on a regular basis for every game company. Yet because of the nature of this game it's now a big deal.

Honestly if it works out then great, if not then it's not the end of the world. People chose to invest all sorts of money and did so at their own risk. Why so many people (usually those with little involvement) have such an issue is beyond me. Surely there are better things to be spending your time on.

No I'm not a fan boy, I just don't choose to pretend to be on the inside with info or pretend to have any idea of how a company is ran.

What will be will be, but my god it's getting boring to read.

Whats that 'Marine Commander' and why can't i access it?

The Marine Commander is the first person module that is currently in development and will be the next module off the block. You can see progress every weekend (Saturday in NZ, but might be Friday UK/US)...

Sadly we have quite a large number of gamers, some on here

I'd say it's a small amount, both on here and elsewhere.

I do actually believe there has been some mismanagement, that fact that they are re-doing ships is direct evidence of that, and the headbob which screams of someone being more interested in the visuals than that actual playability of the game, but it's not going to stop the game from happening.

I'm not sure re-doing ships counts as mis-management, they got more skillful staff in, got more ambitious. Likely any mis-management would be over employing staff they didn't need etc but that seems to be in the process of being sorted out. I doubt job roles were particularly clear at the start though.

Anyone that trots out "there's no smoke without fire" deserves to have someone tell their family/employer they're a sex offender.

SC seems to be ticking along nicely. People don't realise how many years work goes into a game before it's even announced, and assume something is wrong because SC is 'taking too long'. Perhaps take the opportunity to see behind the curtain as a learning experience instead of a chance to display your ignorance and take shots at it.

Not been following this for a long time and check in now and then to see progress.

How long until the Marine Commander module is out?

Also how long until the single player campaign? Or will that ship with the final game? I get the feeling the release product is a few years away yet :(

That said I would rather them take long and get it right then rush it and it be a waste.
