******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Personally I'm not expecting 2.0 to drop, I think we'll get an update on it, some fluff and pretty stuff then more promises of it being soon. This is publicity ahead of a sale. I'm not massively fussed about the delays though, I'm use to it now.

I do think we'll see at least 2 ships we haven't seen before or more detail on the forgotten ships like the Caterpillar.

Dont really get the basis of that comment tbh, its been content complete since the end of last month (~3wks), and its just a matter of hammering out the bugs as they're found.

Really? Yes they'll be polishing things off but at the same time it's incredible how each event has another big reveal just in time for it. That's either brilliant project management, or extremely good marketing, I'd say the latter having met Sandi, she's far more intelligent and savvy than people give her credit for.

It's not a criticism, the game needs funds after all, I just wish each big update didn't have to happen right next to a sale. It's rare for them not to happen in parallel, maximise publicity at the right time though = more chance of a successful development. :D

I'm glad they left me out of this round of PTU, my broadband is too garbage to cope with it :)

Pretty excited about getting a group together in 2.0 though, should be a lot of fun. I'm hoping it's more stable connection wise than Arena commander has been though, bit of a nightmare getting a 4v4 going on that when we tried. Plus means we don't have to play ARK all the time..

I've bought a P72 for that reason, although as I've since ccu'd my 350r to a vanguard I thought the P72 might be a good racer, short range fighter, especially if I get a constellation in the game.

By the way, does the constellation Taurus come with a snub fighter (or at least the attachment)?

Not sure if it comes with a snub but all models of connie can hold them

There's been a lot of people melting/upgrading :)

I'm not convinced LTI is a deal breaker tbh, everyone is going to have it on all or a majority of their ships but will still have to insure any modifications, weapons etc they add later (unless those come with LTI - like the battlefield upgrade kits). So the costs are likely to be minimal at worst. Realistically it's more valuable to have LTI on larger ships which will get into fights more often.

One thing I've read recently (reddit I think) was someone assuming LTI covered the cost of repairs of the hull. As was pointed out to him it's replacement only and you'll have to wait for that to happen so the old "I'm damaged, just get myself destroyed" really won't help either.

I've melted several smaller ships so I now have a Reclaimer and a Crucible as well, moved into the more focused utility ships as we've so many military ones in our org which I'll be crewing anyway.

whats a good joystick for this game?

or even is there any profiles for steam pad :)

whats best ??

Got a steam pad coming next week so will have a try there is no best controller, keyboard and mouse works very well. Stick wise... Warthog, saitek x55 or ch products all popular at one end, plenty of cheaper options around too. T16000m is particularly accurate for a cheap stick, has a poor throttle though.

What resolution are you running it at? lower them if it's 4K or 1440P.

I tried getting into anything other than the hangar in PTU tonight, just wouldnt' connect, hangar was fine (I'm not a fan of the current FPS movement, feels more clunky than before) but at least hangar worked.

I installed this up for the first time yesterday in about a year, had forgotten I'd backed it for ~£150 in 2013.... Stupid feature creep.

Is it any closer to release yet? I tried the racing mode, was fun but almost impossible to control!

Also is there an Overclockers group etc to join?

See the original post for orgs mate there's a few to pick from: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18603648

Control wise it's a case of customising stuff and seeing what you think is best, also what ship you have can have an enormous impact on how well it flies. As with most skill based games though it takes a while to get good at it regardless from my experience, but then again I'm old and a bit **** at games :D

I'm just happy I managed to patch the damn thing last night, still haven't really tried PTU due to crashing issues but it looks amazing. Just by the time it'd patched last night I was very much of the mind set of.. oh sod it I'll just play ARK instead :p

I'm giving up on the PTU, can't keep up to date with patches on my garbage broadband - I'll just try to jump on an OCUKer stream instead :)

Also going to update the original post, it's well over due. If anyone wants something included let me know on here or via trust, especially additional orgs etc.

Hovering over buy, but mindful of specs given my aging system.

2GB GPU ain't gonna run it, right? @ 1080

Hold off until close to release, it's unoptimised and very demanding at best. I'm not saying it wouldn't run, here's a vid of me running it on a 7950 on triple monitors at 1080, only the hangar though - not the PTU version which is even more demanding.

Keybinding config is low on the priorities list, we've been moaning about it since the start, it has actually improved believe it or not lol.

One of the reasons many backup their config files
