******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I'd have thought that by this time, they'd have accrued enough funding to release a coherant (from a development point of view) product that would be fully playable.

They have enough cash to do that but it's not in their interest to release a finished product yet, they are making so much money from the sheeple that keep spending ridiculous amounts of money on ships that they may as well try and drag it out as long as possible.
There is of course still nothing to do in those ships but they keep rolling them off the dev line for fun and they even locked some features like mining behind a god damn paywall.....EA, Activision and Ubisoft get hammered for such practices yet RSI seem to go relatively untouched because the cult that is the SC backers won't have any of it.

I install it now and again just to check what I wasted my backer money on all those years ago and it still astonishes me how little progress has been made.

Can you elaborate on this ?
No he can't because it's not locked behind a paywall.

I imagine what he is talking about is to do mining right now you need to have the prospector, that you currently due to the current state of the game can only buy with real money. Thus it's "locked behind a paywall"

Of course, you will be able to buy the ship in game with in game credits once we reach a point in the development. And probably ( not 100% sure here ) mining attachments for your hard points that can be used on your other ships at the fraction of the cost of a full dedicated mining vehicle.

but i know you already know this :D

Same here mate.

To mine you need the prospector, that is locked behind a paywall, a $140 paywall, actually I'll repeat that.......$140 for a ship.

Of course there is no reason to mine because there nothing to do with the stuff you mine but it may be too early for actual content yet as we are still only 6 years into the development cycle there is at least another 18 years left to add content.

Ubisoft and Activision are getting hammered (rightly so) for releasing a £100+ version of Assassins Creed and COD, with SC you are able to spend that on ship you can do nothing in.

Total bang for buck. :D

All ships cost money at this point, its how the development of the game is funded, once its done you can earn the Prospector and all the other ships in game.

Game is dead on arrival whenever that may ever be

This is about the most constructive comment i have ever seen. It lacks all of the essentials for being a good post. Like reasons why you believe it will be DOA, what has lead you to believe these things and what you think CIG could do to change this.

Well done :).

When does object container stream come ?

Yeah as humbug said within a few days.

CR told us it will be launching to public ptu on the 10th, I imagine that is america 10th not our 10th so probably late 10th early 11th.

OCS is one of those techs that i think will get a lot of people on the testing wagon again. If we can play like we used to with 6 + of us sometimes in a ship without constantly crashing and with OCS getting over 60fps ????? count me the hell in.
