******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I have to say, after seeing the latest CitizenCon, I am extremely impressed.

I know that this has taken ages to build, and there is almost certainly a good year (at least) of more development ahead, but this is really starting to look like the dream space game.

I'm so impressed by the improvements, I'm tempted to buy now! But I just don't have the time or patience to deal with the bugs at the moment :p

Which part of the gameplay impresses you?

Pretty steady 30fps......crashes a lot though.

Definetley a diamond in the rough though....once polished and finished, this game will be unreal.
Damn. Won't bother installing then. Happy with what I saw in those videos. Hopefully we get Squadron 42 next year.

Right, 3.2 is not 3.3 :D 3.3 is still in PTU due for live release soon.
But easy to go and try it out now

Ah ok...when is that coming? on the live release?

Certainly feels a lot better.

Its on PTU channel. There is instructions here a few posts back on how to play it.

3.3 opens up a whole can of whoop ass!!!!

and 3.3.5 is going to be sensational!! All the demo you saw in last few pages are from 3.3.5 which i believe is the next quarter release?

3.3.5 is currently scheduled for later in this quarter, perhaps a few weeks away.

Yes that is actually not a quarter release but more a bug fixing/things we suppsoed to include previously but diddnt.

3.4 is the querter release pinned for end of the year xmas time,

https://starcitizen.tools/Star_Citizen_Alpha_3.4.0

it will have new solar system locations that depend on OCS being done(which it is done)

By end of the year we will have enough content to get to gripse with including live NPC's etc giving you missions

So am i.

It has come a long way! i believe this game is the first to use Object container stream tech and now they will within a year get the network bind culling i believe its called where the servers do the OCS itself instead of the client, this will allow up to 100 players to be in the same server with no lag.

I honestly predict that this time next year it will enter Beta state .

This game will be the next "World of warcraft" in terms of the impact this game and its technology will have!

Agreed, I definitely think the technology behind this game will be what makes it so important. As you say, the Object Container Stream tech is incredible and really sort of groundbreaking in terms of large scale mulitplayer gaming. Very impressive!

Which part of the gameplay impresses you?

So many things in the trailers (both SQ42 and Star Citizen) impressed me. But the underlying technology is what is so impressive for me. No other game has been able to have such a large scaled game, that uses all axis available, and still run with many people at the same time. The Face over IP tech is hilarious and very impressive to me. Basically, if they are able to iron out all the bugs and actually have this run reliably, I feel like this could be one of the greatest achievements (technically speaking at least) in gaming history!

I understand why people are joking about it all the time - and believe me there's been times where I've been like "well they're clearly not going to make this are they?", but after watching CitizenCon and the trailers, I'm back to believing again :p

The only reason I could see this not becoming an actual game (Star Citizen) is if they run out of money - but they’ve been going for years, so I’d like to think they’re still confident they can make it.

Has there been any talk of it requiring a monthly subscription to continue playing after a while?

They still have money coming in from ship sales, to the tune of about $1.5m a month.

Crazy... But if it means a awesome game eventually, then I am happy for people to keep spending. I have the bounty pack with LTI insurance and still in profit from selling a ship I got from an AMD code years ago :)

I tried playing Elite Dangerous again recently and nothing has changed. Still feels as empty and boring as ever. This game will be on a completely different level :D
