******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

They
The only reason I could see this not becoming an actual game (Star Citizen) is if they run out of money - but they’ve been going for years, so I’d like to think they’re still confident they can make it.

Has there been any talk of it requiring a monthly subscription to continue playing after a while?

They are still raking it in, people are dropping hundreds of pounds at a time on ships to do nothing in.
Many dont get why people spend money on this garbage and find it utterly mind blowing ( I'm one of them) but it seems to float the boats of the community so its a thing.

So many things in the trailers (both SQ42 and Star Citizen) impressed me. But the underlying technology is what is so impressive for me. No other game has been able to have such a large scaled game, that uses all axis available, and still run with many people at the same time. The Face over IP tech is hilarious and very impressive to me. Basically, if they are able to iron out all the bugs and actually have this run reliably, I feel like this could be one of the greatest achievements (technically speaking at least) in gaming history!

I understand why people are joking about it all the time - and believe me there's been times where I've been like "well they're clearly not going to make this are they?", but after watching CitizenCon and the trailers, I'm back to believing again :p

You must be confused, a common trait among fans, but I asked about gameplay, not tech, not scale, not cinematics.

They still have money coming in from ship sales, to the tune of about $1.5m a month.

Wow that is incredible! Well I can only hope that continues I guess!... :p

Crazy... But if it means a awesome game eventually, then I am happy for people to keep spending. I have the bounty pack with LTI insurance and still in profit from selling a ship I got from an AMD code years ago :)

I tried playing Elite Dangerous again recently and nothing has changed. Still feels as empty and boring as ever. This game will be on a completely different level :D

I've sunk about 85+ hrs into Elite, which is quite a large amount for me - I come back to it every now and again, but I end up playing on it for a couple of hours, realising why I stopped playing in the first place, and then stop again :p I just saw the patch notes on their upcoming update at the end of the month, and it doesn't look like they're focused enough on adding more things to do :( It's a shame, as it's a beautiful game.

That was rude and unnecessary.

I've completely forgot about this to be honest. Where is the game at currently? I see there's an arena mode, a hanger and a place to hangout apparently. What can you actually do in the persistent universe? From what I can see is fly about and shoot a bit.

How did you do it, like you I get close to one but can't fly down to ground level!
Im really surprised there is no guide or youtube videos showing how. They just skip the part where actually have to Press B again to show up places within the planet/mooon that u can quantum jump close to the point at around 50km and then slowly dive into the atmosphere.

It took me a couple of minutes afterwords at that distance

I'll make a video later on when i have time.

The best way to play this game is by looking at the images and hearing the tall tails of its overall vision that will never be complete.

There is absolutely nothing of value going on in its 20fps (at best) environment at present.

I'm still hopeful something good will come of SC even all these years later. I watched a video the other night and the Devs were creaming themselves over the habs aka spawn points and the metro system.

Getting up and going to work isn't a game! :p
