Playable - debatable, it's in very early alpha and it's only one tiny part of the game (Dogfighting) that's being tested publicly.
Mouse/keyboard, joystick and gamepad, although depending on what type of joystick/HOTAS you have it may or may not work.

Debatable in the sense that the latest patch apparently broke the game on several systems which were running it fine previously and still lacking joystick support for several models. This is all part of alpha/beta testing though.

Asteroid Hangar is apparently part of the latest patch although not heard of anyone actually having it when they log in yet. Bit of pre-loading perhaps?

I agree they're great, loving the detail they put into these ships it's unlike any game I've played before. I only got a good look inside the avenger earlier in my hangar for the first time. Really surprised how good it is internally already, had no idea there was a middle compartment with a bed! :)

Latest subscriber flare. Mini Freelancer MIS model, interesting how they've got slots for the Hull C and Starfarer, guessing there's going to be a few of these models and stands!

Love how they show the opened box

Paul it's a small thank you too subscribers, nothing more especially as they have continually changed what subscribers get, pretty sweet when you consider it brings in extra cash too

Cosmetic stuff is always popular but at least is not something that gives subscribers an advantage.

They would never ban it tbh, you can macro a lot of what is in that video and using something like a Nostromo/G13 or a HOTAS with decent config will keep you on par IMO.

It's an added extra but there is a delay giving voice commands compared to pressing a key, it's handy for some functions and requires less practice but the actual advantage isn't great other than less stress!

Hands On Throttle And Stick (HOTAS) basically something like a Saitek X52, Warthog etc. Generally more expensive joysticks that have a partnered throttle.

I pronounce it as you've written Latex, would be a sin not to lol

ARK and voice attack won't be banned though, I'm not convinced there's an advantage to using it more than a keyboard + mouse, hell maybe this is one of those tools that will help bring the controllers to some sort of level playing field.

You can set the delays on keys and most macro software on keyboards like the Logitech G19 and Nostromo etc allow you to perform the action and it records it, so any delays would be pointless, you can also on some software add in a randomisation for the delay, so it's never a carbon copy each time, making it very hard to detect by the game client.

It's basically pointless trying to ban it, so they might as well try to incorporate it. Most people will have a mic these days anyway or you can pick one up very cheaply. In my opinion it gives those who can't afford a HOTAS a nice cheap alternative to all the config for the ships whilst also making it a more unique experience :)

Schedule for the shows has changed, OP updated as well.

Mondays (3 PM PST / 11PM BST) – 10 for the Chairman
Thursdays (9 AM PST / 5PM BST) – Around the Verse
Fridays (3 PM PST / 11PM BST) – Inside CIG (when available)

With this model you have described, do you not feel that the player base might be too spread out to make the official servers enjoyable?

Dave and his school mates, might just rent there own server, hack in all the best ships and gear and just play silly buggers. While no impact on the official server, it takes away players from the official world?

I can understand their decision, but i can't help feel they should have just left Single Player + Multiplayer dog fight modes separate from the MMO, so the private servers don't eat into the official MMO servers player base.

But who knows, I'm sure we'll see soon enough.

I doubt they want to alienate the player base, ultimately they're likely to look at mods made for player servers and see if they could use them on the main PU server. I don't see CIG as being inward facing when it comes to cool things they can use.

They have said instances will be up to 100, but more if it's technically possible to do so the bottom line is they don't know how many can be supported yet.

My first thoughts of multiplayer tonight were.

damn it my joystick isn't working.

Then I had a play with keyboard and mouse, which annoyingly I'd never really used. However this poor sod has the dubious honour of being my first ever PC kill in AR and he'd done most of the work by ramming someone else:

Annoyingly I couldn't get a missile to fire in keyboard/mouse, no idea why as it would work fine in single player. I've since got my joystick working and can fire missiles fine now.

So far it's..

A bit laggy
A bit hit or miss whether you get into a game when hitting join. It may just punt you back to the hangar.
I've been invisible in one game so far, or lagging so much nobody could hit me and I couldn't hit them - although I could fly about and collide with other ships!

Over all it's surprisingly good fun, there is an option for private matches but it's currently greyed out, hoping for some OCUK fun in the future though :) See if we can all EVA and stand on one ship etc!

SQ 42 now allegedly due for release Mid 2015, now if that means "released" or "episodes being released in groups of 10" as previously planned I've no idea.

2:50 into this:

X52 is old tech mate, I'd get the X55 although personally I'm happy using a cheap T.16000M and I'll pair it with an N52TE. For immersion obviously a proper HOTAS is best though :)

I had an X52 for 6 years btw, I'm not just saying this from googling it ;)
