******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

am i missunderstanding it or is he openly admitting to being a cheating scumbag on a game to win at PvP without any hint of shame?

these kinds of people are precisely why i have zero interest in competitive gaming online.

Difference is that in Ultima Online is you could see where the lines were, or at least know where they were so it was avoidable if you wanted to keep away from those pvp wise.

Star Citizen it's likely they won't be easy to find, who knows - but I actually think it'll be much harder to exploits these but much easier to report players abusing it due to the recording tech we all have + server logs.

I just installed it after not trying it in not sure how many years. Certainly before your time.

When was your account created? Mine shows as 2013 :)

Is that yours?

Asmon is like the chaotic neutral force of gaming he's not interested in being a fanboy, just wants to game and enjoy himself. I'm not surprised he's pretty clueless about SC as he's not streaming it, so it's not a priority to learn about - and a good chunk of his viewers will think it's a scam anyway.

CIG is horribly run, it's better than it was though as they threw away so much work in the early years due to being project managed down a black hole time and time again.

I don't have much sympathy with them back then but can see they were learning at the expense or backers, too many unqualify/inexperienced staff hired in the first few years who's negative impact dragged things down.

I barely play, if I do it's typically Evocati stuff as I'm so fed up with bugs wasting my time as you've mentioned Screeech. I'm also worried about the "game" feeling more like a second job when it comes out. I always intended to be a crew member, not the captain or pilot but I can see me mostly having to solo due to the length of time it takes to get started when you login. They need to make gameplay a bit more snappy and a lot more reliable.

I think a lot of people will struggle more with SC than SQ42 though as SC wont' hand hold you and tell you what to do - it's one of the things I see a lot on negative Starfield reviews, people being a bit lost once quests are done, they need quests or apparently there's no gameplay to be had.. when you can literally land anywhere and it'll generate content for you to shoot up and make your own little mission. "Main character syndrome" is going to be a thing as people realise they simply dont' matter in the SC universe.

Interestingly I sold my warhog, mounts, VKB pedals etc as I tended to play with keyboard and mouse most of the time, I still have my cheaper joystick and may go back to duals with two cheap ones but the other peripherals just felt unnecessary and the control scheme in game is.. horrendous when you are jumping between live/ptu/evo versions.

I've a kraken privateer and a plot of land Screeeech, I'll land it and we can mine nearby if/when the game launches lol

I'm loving Starfield if I'm honest, but then again I feel like I've had my moneys worth out of Star Citizen already with the likely ~1000 hours I've spent messing with it over the years.

Still like this bug I encountered SEVEN YEARS ago, even then it still looks so much better than Starfield :D

Posting this just to annoy Worzel who's never forgiven me : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwrGy3nfVrM&start=265

It does matter.

Typically an alpha isn't meant to go on for more than 6-8 weeks or a few months to iron out basic bugs, and is typically in house testing..

The last time I worked on a large title, we had an 8 week alpha with private access for invitees, then we went to an open beta and release within 12 months.

Think you are confusing alpha with beta tbh. Alpha is the bug riddled mess that can last ages, beta is nearing release when you have a viable product that just needs tweaked and triple checked.

Either way they are late, it’s annoying but it is what it is at this point but I don’t think it’s insane when you consider the next Bethesda game is at least 4-5 years away, GTA 6.. other huge titles, they all take an age.

I really dislike many of the fundraising tactics used over the years, it’s partly why I backed away from putting more in.

LTI used to leverage FOMO, which these days is seen mostly in scams and crypto. CIG happily went down that route, in many ways they were trailblazers for milking FOMO.

Referral system while still in alpha, dirty horrible sales tactic that’s only gotten worse. Kids borderline pyramid system IMHO.

At the same time with a bit of effort they could have improved their websites, the new player experience, better “try it out” events at sensible times of the year.

Anyway rant over, let’s hope they are turning a corner at long last.

Got to remember the first connie was the blueprint for that manufacturers style, it's just that they changed and developed the style over time, key changes to staff brought in new ideas too not just from a design and art perspective but also how they were piecing ships together. There was genuinely better ways to build the ships (ship pipeline).

Everything on the store has always stated it's subject to change, all backers must be adults so it's not as if we are being beaten up in an alleyway for our jpeg money :)

Constellation, Aurora and Freelancer were some of the earliest ships, all of them have been reworked repeatedly either at design phase post concept (where most sales are made) or even after they were in engine.

I only got about 40mins in it due to work and most of that was spent exploring the station I was on but quite impressive, ran fairly well in most parts with the usual occassionaly hitching when new assets come in but saw everything from 40-120fps (my cap) at times while inside.

Not a fan of how messy that station is I was at, clean your room!
