*Official* Star Wars the Old Republic: Guild recruitment

I thought the next patch for rift was more focused on PVP?

Last night they did some world PVP and some new PVP rifts.(that’s if the server actually went on, see below)

I tried to get on the pst server last night, but there was an error when trying to connect.

Yeah they gave a run down of the PvP changes in 1.4, whilst they are better they still arent Daoc style, they are still based around rifts and things which come and go rather than static zonal objectives that are conquered and held by players.

What I would like to see is something like each zone having 2 Temples , each Temple contains a portal to its relevant plane..so for instance a Temple of Water, Temple of Death etc. Players fight to gain control of a temple, once they have control of that temple it gives bonuses to the control faction. Could be anything, could be +10% PvP damage, or +10% xp or +10% resources or whatever, or maybe it could be something more dynamic, like once you control a temple you can travel through the plane portal it contains into whatever plane and into a dungeon or raid or something. Or can travel through rifts of that type or can create rifts of that type, or it spawns a massive invasion of that type to attack the opposite faction.

The PvP rifts thing is all good and well, but considering you already get fights at raid rifts from time to time, there doesnt seem to be much different about a pvp rift.

I think someone who is active should start the guild now on the SWTOR website, but it needs to be someone thats active and will be active in-game for at least the first month of release...

I dont think a guild leader needs to be decided upon right this second, simply because someone could say they'll do it, but after playing the game they might not like it, or they might not want to play anymore because of life changes/circumstances.

So then if we get the guild going now, and once we're all playing together and talking on voice coms over first month, we can decide on rest then...

What about a good guild name tho? we need a good name. I think it will be rubbish to just call us OCUK...

EDIT: Infact, I'm pretty active myself and have a lot of time on my hands, so I dont mind setting this up myself...

EDIT: Do you think I should start a new thread, because the guy that made this thread "davewhite04" doesnt seem very active? and he isnt updating the list on a daily bases....which needs to be done?

I set up a quick free forum to be used to set up the guild: http://ocukswtor.proboards.com/index.cgi Can everybody please sign up and get involved. When we find a name and a server type(Which will be closer to release) then somebody can set up the guild on the Swtor website.

Will sign up :) - my first character will be a Sith Juggernaut, mostly PvE. Will add this to the first post of the official thread shortly.

I may be able to sort out a TS3 for everyone to use.

It might be part of the XSG server, but we have 512 slots to play with if needed ;)

If people are interested then it'll be there for free/gratis use.

I'm not sure if that is enough space for our massive guild ;) I think we will wait and see the numbers we have towards release before deciding on what we do in terms of Voice comms, but thanks for the kind offer :)

Dont forget there is the OcUK Mumble server.

That is a good point, again I think we will wait and see what we need when release is nearly here and then sort stuff out then.

Very true mate! not sure what they going to do to make it different!

maybe something like " first team to activate "something" and by doing that you have kill the other team"

I'm interested in joining. Either side, PvP.

I think it would be good if maybe there was something more official though like a proper OcUK MMO website/guild so when people move between games there is more of a community feel, rather than just starting a new guild on these forums as when this happens there isn't any structure and it's kinda like a PUG; you don't know if it will be a success or not.

A proper OCUK MMO guild is a good idea imo. As you rightly say at the moment an MMO comes along, an OCUK guild is formed for it, it has a different name from the OCUK guild in the previous MMO. The usual differences of opinion about whether to be PvP or PvE/Casual or Hardcore crop up, a decision is made, a few weeks later 50% of the guild arent happy because they ended up on the wrong type of PvP/PvE/Casual/Hardcore and splinter the guild causing damage. Its a kind of lack of continuity you know?

A set OcUK MMO community would be a good idea, with a set name which is carried from MMO to MMO, a site bringing together all of the different "divisions" of the guild. Keeps everyone together , regardless of whether they are in the PvE faction of the guild or the PvP one, or the hardcore or the casuals, or Game X or Game Y. That kind of MMO community reminds me of an MMO guild that I've had many dealings with over the last decade and a bit called Shadowclan, its worked wonders for them.
