I know what you mean but a recruitment channel won't solve anything as they'll probably still just spam general as they do in WoW and every other mmo I've played, sadly we'll just have to put up with it or /ignore the ones who spam the most.
 
Well I was thinking along the lines of recruitment channel and report playing using /1 for spamming. After a few suspensions people would stop doing it. Even if they didn't go down the suspension route having a dedicated channel should at the very least decrease the amount of spam in /1.
 
well that didn't work at all I went to bed when it was repairing 59 files (this must be several GBs worth as it took at least 4 hours) when I woke up it was stuck at installing 16% followed by "there was an error with the installation".

I was also greeted by the message the the catalyst control centre had performed a dodgy operation. I dont know if this is related to the install failing.

Brilliant. I thought I would re-sub because I was under the impression the game had improved, this fills me with little confidence. I'm tempted to just jack it in and un-sub again. utterly useless, the only thing I can think of now is to uninstall and re-install, I have a retail DVD but I can still forsee it taking forever.

Did you do all the steps I laid out? Also update your gfx drivers and set them to default settings.

I'm deadly serious about the OC too mate, ANY OC stopped me from patching I know it makes no sense just letting you know how I got around it.
 
I need to get the latest graphics drivers and will try again, I have also reset my OC back to stock speeds and set everything to run as administrator in compatibility mode.

The customer support forum suggests running memtest, which I will do when I get home, although I seriously doubt that my memory is iffy given that I played BF3 for quite a few hours over the weekend with no problems.
 
You also need to make sure you run the fix launcher program before you try to patch.

So make sure clock / ram is at stock
Update all drivers and windows
Run fix launcher
Run launcher.

I feel your pain on this mate it's an absolute joke that the game is so hard to patch. If you've read any of my posts on this game you can see that I hardly ever bash bioware but the whole patcher **** up made me unsub. I'll expire at the end of the month and if I dont see some improvements on how their CSR's handle issues I wont be resubbing.
 
I'm going to assume it does. Seriosuly turn everything to standard in your bios mate or it's going to keep you in the repair loop. It would not shock me if this was your problem because the patcher seems INCREDIBLY fussy about ram.

I have now managed to re-oc my PC after all of this but lets get you patched up before we go into that!
 
Fair enough, I will put that on my to-do list when I get home, along with getting the latest release CCC.

The whole situation is very odd, I had no problems patching previously, when I last unsubbed I think it was version 1.2.4 or something. Very odd that it wont patch now seeing as I haven't changed anything hardware wise (or even tweeked my OC settings) between then and 1.3 comming out.

Seriously don't even get me started on how retarded the whole premise is.

The fact bioware release a patch that goes **** up and then blame MY hardware which was running the game absolutely fine 12 hours prior is stupid beyond words.
 
Tempted give it another go. What is it like now with the faction balance will I be wandering around on my own as Republic still ? Also what is Legions of Lettow like think I was on that server, or do I need to transfer my characters ?
 
You don't have to transfer servers but there really is no point in staying on a dead one.

Faction balance isn't an issue i've run into since I moved to nightmare lands, all pvp games are Empire V Republic so there would appear to be at least some balancing there.

Empire will always be higher than republic, because we're awesome, but it's not as bad as it used to be for sure.
