*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Tempted give it another go. What is it like now with the faction balance will I be wandering around on my own as Republic still ? Also what is Legions of Lettow like think I was on that server, or do I need to transfer my characters ?

The game is a million times better just for the server transfers and group finder. It makes a world of difference.

Sorry mate, went on and sent you a /w but then had to dash - I am seeing Spiderman later too and helping guild raid in between so might not be able to help today; if no1 else can lend a hand I'll be on tomorrow ~6ish

/edit

Seems some of my guild do streaming!

No queues to log on to ToFN yet there is a very noticeable increase in lag.

What's the bet that BioWare stealthily increased the server cap during last night's maintenance?

No need, not sure what I did but I re-specced and picked up the recruit pvp gear and pretty much become unstoppable in pve. Did the level with ease :o

Thanks though :)

Did Esseles today and it reminded me of a reason why I didn't bother resubbing in the first place. The flashpoints are incredibly boring! The other differences between them all are a few boss fight mechanics and that's it. I can't imagine doing the same place more than once.

Yet when I played WoW or Diablo 3, it didn't feel as dead or repetitive when farming dungeons or maps.

It's the first one? Run some of the Ops (such as EC) and tell me it's simple mechanics :P

WoW was the same to be honest...it's not like the boss fights suddenly change just because you've already cleared it once.

The variations in mechanics ARE there, you're probably just not looking hard enough.

He has a point really. The mechanics of most boss encounters (outside of EC/LI at least) are fairly simple and 99% of all bosses have short enough enrage timers that raw dps is a major factor in whether you can kill them or not.

Newer content like Lost Island (and i assume EC) has better/varied mechanics but it's still hampered by the UI's lack of details to let you know whats actually happening.

To use WoW as an example, you can go into a new boss fight you (and your group) have never seen before, wipe due to not knowing the bosses skills etc (ignore the new fangled dungeon journal for this :p) then can sit looking over the combat log and slowly peice together what killed you and why.

In SWTOR you can't easily consult the logs to figure out what a boss just threw at you so inveitably the mechanics end up simplier.

I think you'd enjoy the challenge of EC esp on HM - all of the bosses have various mechanics which we learned to overcome via wipes. Esp the last boaa although he does neer some aerious DPS i admit
