*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

I've been in two minds about trying this again for ages now, is there a scroll of resurrection type thing available for it yet? I know there's a good chance I'll play it one night and not bother again wasting a tenner :( I'd rather waste that money getting BF3 premium.

I'm the same. Despite hating it I wouldn't mind re-trying whilst waiting for GW2 but I'm not to keen on subbing just to hate it again after 5mins :p

To be fair WoW does something similar, lotro does and most others have at least stupidly long trials. It's just an attempt to hook players.

Is it true theyre down to 60k subs? They seem to be awfully solid behind it if thats the case, or at least thats the impression they want to give.

Currently obsessed with Dayz for the long term otherwise would look at the f2p game then.

60K feels a little low when it was ~1million in April though there was a 400K drop from Feb>Apr I believe.

Who knows; The merged servers are plenty active though :)

60k? That has to be a completely made up number. They 1.7 million players originally, that dropped by 400k and I find it hard to believe another 1.25 million players also quit in the last 2 months.

But WoW could afford to focus on the game and not worry about pulling subscriptions, SWTOR however I think not :p

Also comparing what WoW did from the beginning isn't really worth it, Swtor launched in a world where WoW is well established so should be compared to what WoW is doing now not what it did at launch or when it had a trial. Simple fact is WoW and other mmos have a similar form of trial so I guess Swtor needs one as well.

Not in any way trying to say everything is sunshine and happiness with Swtor since launch because it hasn't been. Just pointing out I don't feel saying WoW launched in 2004 and not resorting to such a trial for years yet Swtor having one after 6/7 months means it is failing badly (not saying it is or isn't) is a comparison worth making as they launched in two completely different market situations.

On the 60k figure, they announced it had gone down to something like 1.3 million in April? personally I'm not sure if it will have stabilised a bit or dropped slightly more but almost certain it isn't going to be anywhere near 60k when the next figures are given, they'd go all out free to play or just shut it down before it got that far I think.

They falsified numbers by offering a free weekend just before they had to release figures. Basically it dropped by a lot more then 400k after the first month.

Hi all
Is it going to be possible for me to hit Level 60 Valor before I hit the class level 50?
I’m already on Valor 38 at the moment, but I am class level is now 41. I’m noticing that Valor is far more of a grind now and I'd really like to have Battlemaster for level 50 PvP.

True, but Wow did not offer a trial within 6-7 months, correct me if im wrong it was few years?

That is true, but back when WoW was released the mmo market was a bit different, and young, with not much competition. And not to mention wow got things right of course, it wasn't perfect though.

But these days the mmo market has a lot of competition, i think all mmo's struggle to keep the player subbing to be honest, its so hard to make another king mmo that is like WoW, especially when that said mmo is still going strong. :p

Valor rank is completely unneeded except to trade warzone commendations for ranked warzone commendations (you need valor 40 for that)

So what you're saying is out of the 1.7 million people who bought the game 1.64 million of them have now quit the game?

60k subs is not enough to warrant keeping the game going let alone develop new content for it. EA said they needed 500k to be profitable, you really think they'd maintain a project operating at 10% of it's minimum?

Show me some evidence to back this up, until then I'm viewing it as highly unlikely.
