*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Anyone know what queues are like on TOFN for dps/tanks in flashpoints?

Thinking of returning to the game, quit because of issues with the game/things outside of my control such as population/lack of guilds/faction imbalances/class faults etc. However some of them seems to have been sorted!

I love tanking, but this time none of my friends are playing so I'm doing it solo; I had a god awful time playing as a tank outside of actually being a tank in nightmare raids (clear nm first two ops). PVP required a dedicated healer otherwise my awesome defences amount to nothing with my bad DPS and back then finding a healer to stick to was impossible unless my guild/friends were on. Flashpoints were easy to get into, but I stopped doing them very fast as there was no need to do it.

However this time around from 50-55 I'm thinking of going DPS, I doubt I could find a guild that needs a tank and dps slots seem more plentiful. However, I've always played with rl friends, this is the first time I have to rely on randoms/pugs to play with. This is either going to be rediculously bad or surprisingly fun.

I'm probably going to get back into this in the summer after I finish uni. If you're on Republic on TOFN come find me :)

I've almost given up hope of BW ever providing paid server transfers :'(

Don't know about TOFN but on Red Eclipse being a Tank is a pretty much instapop on the group finder for flashpoints.

Playing this again recently, hours upon end over the bank holiday weekend, so if you need help, my character is a level 30 Sith Juggernaut called Wescar.

Edit: ToFN server.

what is this game like now it is free to play and also what is the best server to be going on. i have a high bounty hunter is it worth starting a new toon or carry on lol

Servers are very busy. The Red Eclipse is the busiest English server.

I'm still a sub so don't know too much about f2p. I know you are still restricted quite a bit but they have improved it a lot since f2p was launched. Still have to pay to open skill bars etc.

All classes had a lot of change when Rise of the Hutt Cartel launched a month or so ago.

Can read all the changes here.

New Cathar race

Guild Rename
A few others things too.

I'm a subscriber as well, so i can't say what being a non-subscribed player is like, but i've encountered plenty of free to play players in my travels and they are really enjoying the game, however, looking at the free to play options, it looks too restrictive for me, but being a subscriber is really worthwhile.

I'd start again.

yeh im in too minds just i play wow maily so whn i have done all wat i need on there i need sumit else to do lol i didnt get my toons to max level but i logged on last night and they have all gone :S is this because i havnt subs to it or will i get them back if i do tht lol

Just logged in to have a look, and bloody hell, preferred status is annoying!

Pay to hide your headslot, pay to unlock your third companion skill, pay for additional quickbars, pay to unlock your cargo bay, inventory slots, purple equipment, flashpoints, companion customisation, unify colours...

It's just a huge list of stuff designed to annoy you into subscribing.

Pretty much.

Game Update 2.1 will release on Tuesday, May 14th
Game Update 2.2 will release on Tuesday, June 11th

I know you not. I don't think it stops you, it restricts you a hell of a lot.(I've never had to deal with the f2p model so I cant comment too much. I have a few mates playing the f2p model so they tell me)

These are very good articles. Larry Everett from massively is currently doing a experiment on the f2p model. Have a read.

Haven't played this is over a year. I had subscriber access as when I played it never had a F2P service. Would I lose stuff if I log into my character on F2P? I'm thinking like stuff in my cargo hold, or maybe something companion related.

Wouldn't mind playing the new Hutt Cartel expansion as I really did enjoy the stories, but kind of begrudge paying £11.99 then £8.99 for a months play.

You lose:

1 of your 3 companion skills
Cargo hold access
Unify colours
Hide headslot
Wear purple gear
Inventory space restricted
Companion customisation
Slower exp gain
Quickbars restricted!

and probably a bunch of other stuff I can't remember. The game has actually improved a lot, but you really still need to sub. The f2p is just a way of annoying you into subbing.

Ah I see, thanks Sleepery. Turns out the Hutt Cartel expansion is £11.99 but they have a special offer for that plus one months subscription for £14.99 which isn't too shabby so went for that. Gives me time to play my characters and see the new stories at least without having to deal with the F2P restrictions.
