** Official** Starfield - Mods and Tweaks

What mod manager do people recommend?

I've used both MO2 and Vortex. Vortex is easier to use and allows direct updates for mods from within the manager but the interface is a bit bloated and it's trying to sell you the premium version at every opportunity. MO2 has a cleaner interface imo without adds and allows better control over load order of mods when you have lots installed to avoid conflicts. Only downside for MO2 is when a mod updates you have to download from Nexus Mods and then replace in the manager.

I have the 60GBs worth of texture packs yeah, I have been using them a while though and explored new planets and moons so can't say how much they differ to stock textures as had not been to the same places without them, but things do look very well detailed for the most part. The game has no tessellation, so "3d" looking textures from up front look flat from an angle as they are just a 2d map of course, just the way the engine is sadly.

I'm not your pal, buddy!

Oh alright:

Just a quick muck about on a main mission earlier so did a quick recording, it's mainly the sharpness of various textures, but there are still many textures like rocks on some moons/planets that look blurry.

Edit*
Notice the frametime hitches, just a split second during combat, whether a gun or knife doesn't matter. It happens and can be quite jarring. These should not happen and are similar to the hitches we see on Jedi Survivor

I left RTSS on so you can see the memory use increase over stock, it's come to the point now where 62GB of texture packs results in the need for a 16GB GPU, whereas the stock textures a sub 8GB one is all that's needed for VRAM use. The system RAM use doesn't change much though.

Heck even just standing in the jail bit in Cydonia the total VRAM use is above 16GB (screenshot below), so not even a 16GB card is enough when you start using higher res textures at 1440p it seems

Check the screenshots, they look fine, regardless of how they are created.

I saw a really bad one on nexus, like the after was terrible too. I'll try find the example. That is why I haven't looked at any others yet.

Not sure if that is a 4k patch actually, but regardless, not really much improvement. Maybe that is jut a bad example. I'm going to download the 8k planets one and then see what else is about.

^ The Streamline DLSS/FG mod is so much better than the others, having all the NV options in settings screen, exactly how it should be.

And I've just also updated the texture packs as new updates were done to them according to nexus mods, now totalling 64GB, and guess what, now, even with Frame Gen being used, but with 100% render scale and DLSS Quality with NIS applied (all settings above), the VRAM use hits 20GB for the game alone

Finally, a 4090 can be properly utilised at 3440x1440 in this

Oh and it does continue to make me laugh, you go from scenes like this, really top quality visually I'd say:
