** Official** Starfield - Mods and Tweaks

Just curious but have anyone seen a affection mod that makes it possible to see your companions affection towards you without having to use console command ? I think someone made one for Fallout 4 once upon a time, no ?? Maybe the creation kit is needed for it ?

This plugin basically makes these three Bethesda games use OS’ file cache, which leads to less disk access over time. According to the modder, owners of both SSDs and HDDs will benefit from it. Since this plugin reduces the disk calls, it can lead to less freezing and fewer sound drops.

Ive only tried some settings mods like DLSS, ive not tried proper mods. Have you tried placing the files manually to see if its an issue with the launcher?

I can see the launcher 'deploying' the files, it moves them from a depositry into the game folder so it looks to be working ok but on launching the game there's either no difference or it fails to load. I've done the custom.ini thing required too so I should be good to go.

Ah there was another ini that wasn't in my game directory that needed updating to load loose files! Not got the DLSS one working yet though.

Seems Vortex didn't like that, installed manually and had a little read and I'm getting way better FPS on Ultra at 4k.

Now that we have a few mods in the wild, I'd like to ask a few questions as I may make a little guide for the OP.

  1. What are you using to install mods?
  2. What would you consider your essential mods?
  3. What mods have you ruled out and why?

So, I finally decided to do that Mantis Quest yesterday evening after seen it mentioned here a couple of times. I put it in spoilers though, just to be on the safe side and not upset anyone that might not done it yet !

Was quiet a fun one but have to admit I had to 'cheat' a bit because the 'Additional Quest' to find out more about the Mantis stuff didn't complete once I done all and found the ship. So googled and found out one had to find two automated messages and I only had found one, finally did find the second though, behind a open door ! No wonder I missed it, cheeky devs ! :p

But doing that google search I found out more about that Mantis suite and realized it was randomized so me being the curious person I am I thought I reload and check a couple times. This is the first drop I got:

Which isn't too bad but then I got this one and was, yup keeping this ! :p That Mantis Boostpack might be with me for the rest of the game, unless find a better one with that stat - Assisted Carry: Drain 75% less O2 when running while encumbered. - With the +40 my carry weight was around 225, I picked up some more heavy stuff and had a total carry weight of 340 or so, and could still run around with the oxygen level barely moving, it did a bit but not as fast as normally !

I did make another save with that suite but did try a couple more time and nothing remotely as attractive as the above but did get one that had two with the ** Resources Hauler: Resources weight 25% less ** and thought, wow, wonder if it stacks but.. nope it don't !

Would love to see others Mantis sets if you still have access to them ?

@Dirk Diggler If you want you can still use MO2, but you have to go to their discord channel to download the beta verson of MO2 for Starfield. But other wise the Vortex is rather straight forward, or was last time I used it some years ago. And yes, it is that one you linked to.
