If you are going to be sarcastic you better put in some rolleyes ;)

Not too many though or the thread will be closed :D

Because they got to keep their best players playing and won titles, whilst Fabregas was off learning his game playing at the highest level.

They now have the end product who is able to play at the highest level for a good ten years or more. £30m over ten years isnt too much to pay for a worldclass player

I think most big teams would be happy to pay £30m for someone of fabregas' class at his age.

Barca didn't win anything for years dude. Last 2-3 years yeah but not much before that.

Buying a player back for 30+ million when you had him in your youth team is bad business, no matter how you pretty it up.

No **** Sherlock.

That's what makes all of the 'Barca DNA' stuff annoying, generally their whole pursuit. They didn't seem to care about him for ages, now Xavi is getting a few injuries and hitting his twilight, and Fabregas has turned into an excellent player, it becomes convenient for them, but they act like they deserve him, when he never even trained with their first team.

Also, I can only assume other clubs aren't in for him because he has said he'll only go to Barcelona, and nobody can really compete with them anyway in terms of appeal (currently). If he was offered to anybody though I can imagine certain teams would be happy to pay over £50m for him, and it should be the same to Barcelona, from Arsenal's p.o.v there should be no difference in price depending on who he's sold to.

He grew up supporting them though and isn't Pep Guadiola his idol?

These things turn a boys head.

Yeah, the deal makes sense to all parties, except Arsenal. It's their public pursuit and disrespect to Arsenal which is the annoying bit. As bad as it may sound, Fabregas at Barca would be an amazing transfer and if I didn't support Arsenal I'd be dying for it to happen, but he's only 22/23(?) and he should stay at Arsenal until they decide they're equipped to sell him or his contract runs out. Wenger isn't an ******** in these situations, he does honour his players and usually sell them if they want out. It can be a good opportunity for Arsenal to shake things around and try another approach, if the money is reinvested well they can strengthen areas which are lacking, goals aren't a huge problem even though his impact will be missed.

Well they let him go in 2003 when he signed for us.

Barca winning title:

2004–2005, 2005–2006, 2008–2009, 2009-2010.

Cup:

2008–2009

Othercup:

2005, 2006, 2009

Champions League:

2005–2006, 2008–2009.

Looks like they won a fair amount just after he left.

Valencia won the title a couple of times in that period and someone else that escapes me.

What I'm saying is whether they let him go or not because he wasn't getting in the team, they will be paying a massive premium to get him back.

That is not a good deal for them.

Indeed, I can see why they'd be peeved, not Arsenal's problem though, theirs is trying to replace Fabregas which is nearly impossible

Good luck to Senderos at Fulham, can see him doing well there

If you look at it like that yes. They could have had him for free. But they didnt believe in him and Wenger did. Apparently he used to score over 30 goals a season for their reserves yet he didnt get a chance.

Maybe Barca will learn from this. Just turns out that Arsenal took a chance in him and it paid off when Barca didnt think he would make the mark.

Question is, does Wengers faith in him deserve him staying when he wants to go back to Barca to make a point that he was good enough? Probably not but do Barca deserve to get him on the cheap because he was on their books as a youth? Definately not.

Although he was on their books training he had never signed a professional contract with them so in my eyes Barca dont deserve the right to have him back.

I wonder how many players trained with other teams but signed for big teams like Utd, Chelski and the like. Doesnt mean that team has a right to them back at a lower price just because they didnt sign them and regret it now.

Apparently Gulileme Beleguia or however you spell it has some breaking news on Talk Sport tonight about Benitez, Torress and Gerrard

Maybe you know more about it than I do but I rather thought it wasn't so much that Barcelona didn't believe in him but there's a limited amount of places available and if at 17 there were say 3 players ahead of Fabregas in the squad then it doesn't make much sense to play him instead of them. By allowing him to move (or not being able to stop it depending on what you believe) Fabregas gets the chance of first team football and to improve.

However G|mp is right it's not a great piece of business for Barcelona unless they can say the players and trophies etc they've won in the intervening period were worth the £30m (or whatever) it would cost to buy him back as the finished article or near enough as makes no odds. I would agree with you that Barcelona should have no special privileges in buying him back cheaply, they do however have an advantage in that it seems Fabregas wants to go back there at some point which does rather give them some negotiating power that might not otherwise be present.

Guillem Balagué is the man you're thinking of I believe. Should be interesting to hear what he's got to say.

You should have just finished there. :p

Why? He normally talks utter ****

By the sounds of it, it's Gerrard saying he wants to go to Real but it's from Marca :/

Pithy as that would be I thought I'd better put in some reasoning since some people didn't accept what you were saying the first, second or third time round. :p

I'm thinking of the potential for winding up Liverpool fans, whether it's nonsense or not it makes a change from winding up the Arsenal fans for you. Maybe you can be the consoling shoulder for young Baz or something like that. ;)

It did take a few attempts and I still don't think it has sunk in yet.

I actually feel sorry for the Liverpool fans at the moment, I hate to think what it would be like to lose Fergie, Rooney and Evra for instance.

Clearly not if Barca seem to be the only club interested. :p

Even City haven't been linked to him.

Well maybe thats because Fabregas wouldnt consider any other club other than Barca???...i mean hes made it quite clear he will only go back to Barca so even if City threw their millions at him...im pretty sure he wouldnt go to them as it is.
He's going to Barca end of...when?? well thats something Arsenal need to figure out but its either this season or next for sure.

How else do you explain Spurs in the CL?

Pure luck???:p:D...will be interesting to see how well they do next season in the EPL seeing as City will be a lot more stronger no doubt...plus theres always a chance that Liverpool will have a better season....they had a rubbish season which could very well be a one off but with the way things are now at Liverpool...it could very well be the beginning of the end for them ie Gerrard and Torres being linked with moves from Liverpool.
