That is not a good deal for them.

Well lets be honest Barca arent very good at cutting deals are they??...i mean prime example was last season...letting Eto go to Inter on a free then paying a further £40mill to get Ibramovich....i mean that deal was quite hilarious when i saw it...i actually wondered wtf Barca were doing giving Eto away for free and then shelling out another £40mill on a striker who hasnt really done all that well for them this season.

You should have just finished there. :p

Why? He normally talks utter ****

By the sounds of it, it's Gerrard saying he wants to go to Real but it's from Marca :/

And you are the man to know about that

I havent heard you say one intelligent thing without petty childish name calling.

However G|mp is right it's not a great piece of business for Barcelona unless they can say the players and trophies etc they've won in the intervening period were worth the £30m (or whatever) it would cost to buy him back as the finished article or near enough as makes no odds. I would agree with you that Barcelona should have no special privileges in buying him back cheaply, they do however have an advantage in that it seems Fabregas wants to go back there at some point which does rather give them some negotiating power that might not otherwise be present.
.

So you are saying that if Man Utd, Chelski or Madrid got Fabregas for £30m that wouldnt be a great deal? I will have to agree to disagree there. It's no different for Barca signing him. A worldclass player at 23 years old with a good 10 years or so at the top flight?

It's like Arsenal offering a cut price offer for Ashley Cole just 'cos they trained him, I doubt it would happen, it doesn't make that much sense really.

Stop making crap up. They didn't let Eto on a free they sold him to Inter for ~€25m. They also had very good reason to sell him as he was demanding crazy wages to extend his contract which would have broken the clubs wage structure. Maybe you should check out Portsmouth to see if signing players on free's transfers but with excessive wages is a good long-term strategy for a club.

Not financially feasable to give him more wages so they went and spunked £60 million on Ibrahimovic and Chygrynskiy?

I dont think that he is refuting the fact that £30 million for Fabregas is a great price, he is merely saying that £30 million to sign a player that you once owner is a little galling. Put it this way, a Van Gough paining was sold by someone for £1000 and then 10 years later it is worth a million. Now if that original seller is offered it for £800, 000 that is a good deal on paper. Anyone else interested in the painting would think £800k is good value for a £1m painting. If you are the numpty that sold it in the first place however, you may feel that you should have held onto him.

Oh and the painting wants to go back to the original owner as well, no one else. Certainly wouldnt want to pay big dollar if the player has his heart set on it too.

Wouldn't have surprised me tbh he's known to come out with worse in the past

In other news Rafa has joined Inter

Again you seem to have grasped the wrong end of the stick.

Now re-read the post I was quoting and see how I separated the 2 responses.

When you were realise I was talking about Guillerm (sp?) I will accept your apology and you can move on.

And again, keep your rolleyes to yourself you child.

No, that's emphatically not what I'm saying. Cesc Fabregas is almost unquestionably worth more than £30m based on what other players have gone for, however as fez has also explained it's £XX million more than they would have paid had they kept him at the club - we can argue about whether he would have developed as well by staying at Barcelona (for what it's worth I don't think he would as players tend to improve via first team football which he might not have got as much of) but I wouldn't call it a stretch to say it isn't a good piece of business.
