Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has landed centre-back Laurent Koscielny from French club Lorient as an £8.5m replacement for William Gallas, who is set to leave the Emirates after failing to agree a new deal.

I hope this isnt the "SURPRISE" Wenger was talking about

Wasn't as impressed with Kjaer as i was hoping i would be considering all the hype before the tournament. He looked above average but that was about it.

Spurs are in for Kjaer and Cavani according to SSN.

If Spurs sign either of those I'll be very surprised, sounds to me like a Chairman trying to increase prices. Whilst Kjaer would be a good signing, at that price it is a joke. Similarly with Cavani, at those prices I'd be expecting serious steps up in quality which neither of them really are.

Kjaer's arrival would signal the definite end of Woodgate's Spurs career.

Spurs are paying too much there, Cavani is quite a good prospect, Kjaer too. Neither £15/£20m players tbh (possibly Kjaer)

I'm trying to think of the best snarky comment to put here. I'm torn between "sideways move" and "from one mid-table club to another", bt neither of them have enough zing for me. Anyone got a better suggestion?

EDIT: This is in regards to Hodgson of course.

Hmm, well Liverpool played atrociously last season, and Spurs + Villa played very very well, so if (and its a big if) he cant get us playing a good level of football again, then there is every chance of us being back up there again.

That all depends on what happens with players of course, and Man City as well.

Last summer we all expected Arsenal to struggle and City/Villa to push for 4th place, and that didnt happen, so you never no what will happen this year ... Man U for 7th ?? ;)

I watched all the Denmark games to get a bit of a look a Kjaer, I've only seen him play for Palermo in highlights, so I wanted to get a good long look at him. Looks short of pace to me, didn't see what all the hype was about, but I guess it's hard to defend well in an average team. Or if you are an England international. :(

Looks like Arsenal have signed Koscielny, which I just knew would happen weeks ago, typical Arsene buy, so hopefully he'll be solid. We appear to have been very persistent to get him, lets hope he was worth it.

No idea who the 'surprise' Arsene mentioned is. I assumed it was Joe Cole when I heard him say that, but the gossip today mentions De Jong. If City are mad enough to let him go, then yes please we'll have him. We still need a couple of steely players in midfield/defence.

If we sign Wright-Phillips though, I may have to defect and become a Spud. I hate SWP more than I could possibly express in words. He is well gash, and caused me to swear so many times in front of my Nan during the first England game, that she now thinks I am an abominable hooligan.

*woyvolution ;)

forgot to comment on his move to Anfield. It reeks of hubris to me, I fear the worst for Liverpool.
I do hope he can turn it around for them though, hate what those idiot yanks have done to one of our traditional 'big' clubs.

He may not be glamorous, but its not like any other good managers would want to manage us at the moment - it's a hiding to nothing. No chance in hell we can win anything given the current owners, but massive expectations.

Harry Redknapp is the bookmakers' favourite to replace Fabio Capello as England manager

Please 'Ary no..

This sounds quite probable now with Hodgson now off to Liverpool and the "FA is hoping that Capello is picked up by a club side, saving them £10m in compensation for him to leave." - Could be a straight swap?

I don't see Harry leaving Spurs this season at all, not with Champions League football beckoning. Possibly at the end of the season but definitely not now.

Just to check what level of hatred that is - on a scale of one to Ashley Cole how much do you hate Wright-Philips?

**** Wright Phillips just lol.

Can't understand why anyone in the top half of the Prem would want him, awful footballer.
