*sighs*

Total league appearances, Rooney; 189 + 91 goals.
Total league appearances, Drogba; 166 + 84 goals.

Go read your links :)

Yet by him doing that job has seen us fairly comfortably beat Arsenal & Liverpool quite consistently over the past 3 years

no..deploying one man to do that because the rest of your midfielders are incapable of this kind of play actually made it more difficult for us to win those games than they would have otherwise been.

if carrick could move around and tackle, as well as pass - fletcher would be out of a job.. sadly we have say one midfielder for passing, one for tackling, one for running etc...

fletcher is allr ound average but good at one or two things. we put him in a position and only ask him to do those good things and rely upon the rest of the team to generate anything offensively.

Rooney got shafted when Ronaldo was at United.

No... ronaldo and rooney were the dynamic duo. they linked up so well. the difference between them is that ronaldo can run at people with the ball at his feet and will do so all game long. rooney not so much. its ronaldo's directness and willingness to throw himself at the defenders to try and score that seperated them.

Why were you comparing Drogba's over all scoring to Rooney's league then?

Drogba, in Europe at Chelsea; 54 + 26 goals.

Rooney has "continental" listed, not Europe, so I'm not sure.

i wasnt i was using the stats on the right hand side, where it has their height etc, someone must have made rooney's page wrong or he maybe doesnt play in cup games.

drogba also scored a lot for his previous club in europe too

Rooney had to play in a wide position because neither Tevez or Berbatov could play there along with Ronaldo's unwillingness to track back.

The point is Rooney had to take one for the team.

You were using the wrong stats.

Rooney, in the league is marginally better then Drogba with his goals = games Ratio.

Drogba; 16 + 11 goals iirc.

Look at our record against Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea in the games that Fletcher has played in; not many defeats. But hey Barcelona steam roll every team they play so when United dont do the same = they're crap

Similar to how Chelsea use Mikel, or Liverpool use Mascherano, or Arsenal use Song

I think you'll find almost every top club side and International side has at least one 'destroyer' in their team, in fact more and more teams have 2 and then only have 4 players to influence the team in an attacking sense

Well in that case, Sack Ferguson, Sell Rooney and re-sign Ronaldo then, it will solve all our problems (oh except Ronaldo didn't want to play here anymore, small problem there)

Tevez isn't a winger, but I imagine he'd be better on the wing with one leg and blind folded then **** Wright Phillips.

except mash is known as being a great passer, mikel a good passer and people like viera who had physical presence and could run a match.. fletcher has never run a match he just fills the gaps and tackles people running around, often doing an impression of a headless chicken.

well i did say we should sack fergie some 8-10 years ago, and i stand by that. but anyway, your argument makes no sense.

but if you couldnt see the chemistry between rooney and ronaldo, watch the arsenal goal they always show on TV adverts.

ronaldo made up for when rooney did bugger all.

and look how utd fail without a direct player to run at teams and carry the ball forward. we only do okay when valencia or nani has a good one these days because of that roanldo loss... rooney didnt propell us forward from an opposition corner, or free kick like the way ronaldo does.

world cup gossip is easy:
*pick a player that the commentators have been bumming in a few games
*pick a team
*pick ANY amount of the currency of your choice

and add them all together!
I prefer to make up my own, it's more exciting that way. Especially when you get one right.

how's about
*Jong Tae Se
*Blackpool
*49 billion Tajikistani Somonis

you heard it here first

your talking about a brazilian internationalist, who is a proven scorer for club and country, defoe on the other hand has just had 1 good season, they are leagues apart in terms of quality.
Nice way to ignore/avoid my actual question. :)

I wasn't comparing the quality of the players. Fabiano is probably better than Defoe*, but for Spur's sake, so what? As I said, if Defoe stayed in form next season, he'd be worth absolute shedloads to Tottenham, as a decent CL run would see them rolling in it. Whereas they could go and buy the likes of Fabiano, and it essentially becomes a gamble of his high wages versus the hope they stay in the CL for long enough.

Why risk it? I don't think Tottenham's squad is really that weak that they need to go and splash the cash anywhere.

*Can't say I've personally seen enough of Fabiano to judge.

fabiano on a bad day will get 2 goals, defoe on a good day will struggle to get one.
Hyperbole.
