Well who else is going to pay for their life style?

They have nothing going for them other then being married to some rich footballer.

Looks like should Hodgson go we'll probably lose Mike Kelly (Asst), Hangeland, Schwarzer and some of our potential targets.

Although, if Hodgson needs the money for Hangeland, I assume the fans would take exchanges etc, imagine there's a few players that could be used to try get Hangeland.

I would be quite happy really if Hodgson didnt bring Hangeland with him. He is a good defender but he isnt really what I would be looking for at this point, however my aims and the aims of the incoming Liverpool manager are probably quite different.

What would you be looking for at this point? Carra isn't good enough, so you have Skrtel and Agger?

Hangeland is at least as good as those two, and better than Carra by some way.

Agreed. He'll probably bring him in if he can. I think we'll be OK if Hangeland goes, the rock of our defence is Hughes, and Senderos should be alright, just need another one to replace Smalling.

I won't be too surprised if Hodgson doesn't spend too much either for some reason, he'll pull of a few of the end of contract type deals. OR he'll use money from say Mascherano to get a few names, he'll probably play a similar style as Fulham, having a biggish guy in centre mid.

Gossip for today... Obviously a little late, as Hodgson has already signed with Liverpool.

Just seen Silva's gone to City, though I see you guys beat me to the punch!
here's a linky anyway...

Damn you Man City!
I don't necessarily think it'll mean Johnson will be warming the bench, I think they'll be the two first choice wingers even though they are similar players. Although Bellamy might have something to say about that... and of course there is the small matter of Robinhood...

---------Adebarndoor--------
Silva-------Tevez----Johnson
-------Barry-----De Jong-----

In fact lets hope Silva takes to the Prem as well as Robinho! :D
That's really annoying... I love the look of David Silva and he's gone and signed for Citeh :(

Why would an England release clause matter to Hodgson when he's only on a two-year contract? He's obviously decided he doesn't want to go for it now, and the next likely time Capello will leave would be after the next cup. Silly papers.

He's signed three, just in time for the next World Cup.

:p

I would be looking for a younger defender who can give us 6 or 7 years. A defender in the Carragher mould as a long term replacement for Carra. If Hangeland was 24 then yeah I'd go for him. At 30 years old next year though, its just not the one I would go for (particularly if he costs us £10 mil or something).

Its nothing to do with his quality why its not who I would go for, its the age. At this point I am looking at the long term squad rather than the squad for the next 1 or 2 years.

Surely a four-year would be perfect timing?

And yeah, that'll teach me to believe what the paper rumours say about contracts.

Well it won't have to involve buying his contract out of a current club, as if it goes well for him, he'll do what he does at Fulham, a rolling contract.

A centre half that's just turned 29 can quite easily give 3 or 4 more years, if not more, at the top of his game.

Liverpool need to turn things around now, not build for the future. With the debts they have can they afford to miss out on CL again?

Yup, that's another reason why Hodgson could be good for them, he'll try use the current team, maybe with an addition or two.

No point in debating it really, different people would do things a different way, if they didnt we'd only need 1 manager for the whole league :) I merely mentioned that its not the defender I would go for , then again I am not a manager and never will be so what I would go for and wouldnt go for is irrelevant anyway.

I was trying to change your mind, just provide my view. You don't have to defend your own view :)

I don't actually rate him all that much, but plenty of people in the game do.

He's not too bad, had a terrific season 2 seasons ago, not quite such a good season by that standard last year. I'd rather have Simon Kjaer but I guess he is out of our price range anyway.
