I really like the guy (who doesn't?) but I don't think Zola is a good manager and I hope he's not the next manager of Fulham. What I don't want to see is Fulham fighting for relegation again because they were on the up all thanks to Hodgson. They have a good squad but they need to keep their main players to stand any chance next season IMO.

If they end up in a relegation battle then Hodgson is going to be a hate figure imo despite his Europa League run. I hope he gets cash at Liverpool otherwise he's made a big mistake.

I honestly don't know why he (or anybody else) would have taken the job. It's nigh on damn hard with all the backroom guff. They should have sorted that out first then got a new manager, though admittedly that'd have been impossible.

Annoyed flatulence

I get this in real life as well.

A lot of other fans are convinced we're about to lose Cesc. I have to KEEP reminding them that since we WANT him, the only reason he'd leave is if Barca offered a Ronaldo-esq amount of money. Henry, Viera even Overmars had weak points that both the fans and Wenger knew about. The former two even after being linked to e.g. Spain in previous summers were only sold when the manager felt they were done with English football.

The amount of football fans who think Arsenal are obligated to sell Fabregas is alarming. Who cares who wants to buy him? Arsenal want to keep the player and have every right to do so, even if Fabregas wants to go I can't see one reason to sell him, unless the fee is mental (which is won't be as Barca had to take out a 150m loan just to pay the players, lol, mess of a club)

Arsenal with Fabregas are good, without him, much worse. It takes more than £30m-£40m to replace a player of that quality and influence, why Barca think Arsenal will happily sell him for that sort of fee is beyond me

:D

LOL @ Sandro Rossell
The Cesc issue has been made very public and has been complicated because a lot of expectations have been put on the purchase price.

He's only got half the Barca squad and Laporta to thank for that. Cesc is worth double what they are offering and they can't even afford the £30,000,000 let alone anything higher. He's still contracted to us and still happy to play in London. Maybe Barca should figure out how the hell they are going to pay their current players before they go off tapping up other ones.

They seem to think that their constant badgering and 'Cesc has our DNA' dribble is going to turn his head enough such that he'll not even bother returning to England. True, they have leverage in that he's said he one day wants to return home, we've always known that though. But as has already been pointed out, they're skint as hell. That's even with almost breaking even this summer by selling Toure. This all continues my 'not worried for a second' stance.

The only way that he'd move is if a Ronaldo sized offer was thrown our way.

i keep hearing that UTD sell berbatov and anderson to fund the hugely overrated Benzema from real madrid.

plus trying to sign Wesley Sneijder as a Scholes replacement.

well what can you say? we could have bought any number of these dutch masters a couple of years ago for relatively peanuts. Now fergie waits until he is the world cup top scorer and almost europes best player before making a bid.. i wonder how many zillions this will add to his price tag?

i agree, anybody this side of the universe could see Sneijder was quality, he went to Inter for 15million... its a joke we didn't go for him at the time, fergies being a complete boob when it comes to transfer targets in recent years.

well i could mention berbatov too but i already did.

and yes its true benzema could be in that 'grab a bargain now' category.. but i dont think he is.

i don't mind him splashing 25m for Benzema, he could come good under Fergie as a manager and consistant game time.

its sitting on 90m and not reinvesting in players.

he or the glazers are being cheap by not delving into the transfer market, if we don't bring in some possible class this summer i see us dropping behind Man City personally, Giggs and Scholes we're both flagging last season, we can't rely on Rooney to do that again, Carrick was probably our worst player, Rio needs sending to the glue factory, Anderson seems to be out in the cold and hasn't really improved if anything he's got worse since his initial year.

our depth is seriously lacking now due to a lack of investment. for some reason Fergie doesn't want to splash the cash when every other team is. thats the fact and it cost us the title last year and could be worse this coming season.

Indeed, we could have bought Sneijder when he was a rising star and has his heart set on joining Real Madrid.

Get your facts straight before you mouth off.

no i actually meant when he LEFT REAL MADRID for a song...or did he have his heart set on Inter as well?

On 27 August 2009, Sneijder was bought by Internazionale from Real Madrid for a reported fee of €15 million...

he went to real for nearly double that...

12 million £££ for him? nah lets buy people like carrick and hargreaves instead:/

Well considering you had Carrick 3 years before Sneijder went to Inter...

Also imagine Inter are paying ridiculous wages for him too.

yea but carrick is what i would call a sellable asset...berbatov less so... due to age and form...

you can easly sell carrick and fund sneijder... if you really want to....

Yeah but it's also handy having english players, considering all the ruling that could come in. Although I'm not a fan of Carrick, anyway... but with Scholes having probably his last season, at least there's someone english still there. I do agree though, Sneijder/Ozil or someone is what Utd need in that style of player. Schweinstger too.

He wont be going to united, he will sign another contract with inter. Yes ferguson could have bought him last year but he chose to spend £18 million quid on valencia instead. The squad is a mess at the moment and the only reason i can see s becauase the board are not letting ferguson, now 70 years old nearly, near any of the cash as i would suspect they will be building a decent fund for the new manager who hopefully will be able to bring some decent players in.

so after three years of being a central part of the team (and winnign three titles, a CL + whatever else) , you would sell one of your british players playing at the top of their game!!! Dont be ridiculous

Yes this season has been tragic for Carrick, but no way anyone could have known that last summer

Im not saying Sneijder wouldnt be a good purchase (even last summer) but not at the expense of a good young british midfielder

Utd (and all the big teams) need as many british players as they can get, not fewer - especially given how the british % of the team will drop with Giggs and Scholes (and Neville possibly) retiring within a season or so - and few british youngsters ready for 1st XI squad

He isnt an option anyway as Inter wont let him go (and why should they given last season and his WC performances). There is also a HUGE doubt as to whether he even wanted to come last summer anyway. I would put Schweinstiger in the same catagory

Ozil is a possibility (I believe he is in the last year of his contract anyway)

Personally thought Valencia was worth the money paid (depending on where you read anywhere between £15 - £18m), Utd needed a winger 1st and foremost at that point

The deal is worth ~£10m which is similar to what we paid for Vermallen. Can he have the same kind of impact that Vermallen had last season? If so, awesome pair of centre backs we have. Only need Hangeland or Mertesacker and we should be rock solid.

EDIT: Also he is only reported to be on £25k/week. Our wage bill should drop massively this season if Gallas, Silvestre leave.
