no i actually meant when he LEFT REAL MADRID for a song...or did he have his heart set on Inter as well?

On 27 August 2009, Sneijder was bought by Internazionale from Real Madrid for a reported fee of €15 million...

he went to real for nearly double that...

12 million £££ for him? nah lets buy people like carrick and hargreaves instead:/

Oh you mean that Sneijder, the one that had a massive loss of form and couldn't get in the team.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

You stop that you awful man

You have to remember that in some peoples eyes, Fergie is wrong when he buys proven talent or big names that doesn't work out. Wrong when he buys good young players who in the long run will add quality to the squad. He was also just lucky and in the right place at the right time to get Ronaldo for £12m. Wrong to buy Hargreaves who was instrumental in Bayern winning 3 domestic titles and also England's best player at the last world cup in a campaign nearly as bad as this World Cup.

He should also be hung drawn and quatered for having a wonky crystal ball. Pretty much agreed that Sneijder was gash at Madrid. Why didn't he buy him last year knowing full well if he went to Milan he would win the treble and be playing in the W/C final this Sunday. Senile old fool.

I personally hold him accountable for not signing Marco Van Basten and Diego Maradona when he wasn't at the club. Why didn't he over see these deals

It is a little irritating how we keep signing/trying to sign/declaring interest in players that he could have got for a third of the price a few seasons ago. See Carrick, Berbatov, Tevez and now (although only rumoured) Sneijder and Modric.

It's a fine line though isn't it Look at some of his more recent acquisitions. Everyone knew Ronaldo was something special before we signed him yet 12 months ago he is the world player of the year.

Look at Valencia, I doubt anyone could argue that he was one of the most consistent performers last season for us and one of the Premier Leagues better players. He will only get better.

The argument about Modric and players like him "Oh we could have bought him when for Nine Tenths of Naff all" doesn't always add up though. If Modric came to us at the time Spurs signed him then he would not got anywhere near as much football as he has at Spurs. Potentially not the player he is today as well. Greatest respect to Spurs, they were the right club at the right time for him.

Most of the players you've listed were targeted but their clubs didn't want to sell or the player didn't want to leave. So it's not really a case of 'could have'.

Sorry, I just get wound up by Man U thinking they can wave their arse and players will come running :D

Man Utd fans ;)

There seems to be a fair few that think we can go out and get any player we like, these days we are linked with everyone so fickle fans often assume we can go and get them when we want.

Or as the case may be in this instant, Wow he's got really good we should have bought him years ago!!!! sack Fergie he knows nothing!!!!

Fact of the matter is we could have put bids in for those players and they chose to go elsewhere, I don't know if we did and neither do most fans.

Well Fabregas wont go to City thats for certain...even if they offered him £500k a week:p....hes always had his heart set on going back to Barca as far i know...bit surprised that no other team wants him other than Barca...would have thought that Real might have come in with a cheeky bid:p.

as far as i can tell. if your a barca fan you would never play for madrid (they are like sworn enemies)

some players have done it, but i doubt they supported either team

Amazing that the same prats that are slating the best manager an English side have ever seen are the same people that believe anything that is put in the papers every morning

Actually no it's not amazing at all, it's about spot on

Had we wanted to sign Sneijder we would have last season, I cant believe for 1 second that it's only been this last season that Fergie has known about him. Yes I'd love us to sign him but it's not going to happen, not because we dont have any money but simply because Fergie doesn't want him.

totaally agree with this - certainly with the Berba deal , Spurs did most of the running , Man Utd tried to come in last minute but (rightfully) I believe Berba turned Utd down as he had already agreed (verbally) with Spurs, and he ended up in North London

(if only more footballers were this honest)

Really annoying from a Utd point of view the club didnt try earlier the same summer to sign him, but Spurs deserved the player and got him.

Hindsight (to a lot of posters around here) is always 100% perfect, but life just doesnt work that way

........ not because we dont have any money but simply because Fergie doesn't want him.

You know of course that Inter have confirmed Utd put an offer in (that was ignored basically)

I suppose he was only born the year the greatest retired so he can be forgiven for his mistake.

The greatest hasnt yet retired, but by all means continue to live so far in the past its barely in your living memory and fool yourself at the same time hahaha

Dan Gosling leaving Everton on a free

What a mess from Start to Finish, the club fail to do the proper admin of submitting a contract offer to him. The player who is still injured for upto 4 months is just walking away with no loyalty to Everton. Really makes you think for the future of football if incompetence exists at club level and like wise the players being so mercenary
