I dont get wound up or get my "knickers in a twist" over things, I see the point of the club, the aims of the club are to win every competition its in, same as chelsea, liverpool and Arsenal, the margins for error are extremely small, you cannot go into the season with one competitive midfielder, and by that I mean one physically and mentally competitive as in comparable to his peers in the other top clubs.
Its a situation that has been allowed to develop through no other reasons than bloodymindedness on Fergusons part, same as the strike options, we had Tevez, he wanted to stay they forced his hand by signing Berbatov and freezing him out of the side, and so it goes on.
I dont get worked up over it, I hold an opinion and voice it.

You dont agree with it, thats fine, you shouldnt allow your opinions on people to be formed by what they say about football.
I happen to have several black friends as it happens ;)

Tevez didnt have a 2nd season worthy of the money KJ /Tevez wanted (wasnt that much better than Berba's 2nd season), so your arguement kinda falls down there

He put more effort into last season with City than he ever did in a Utd shirt (and nearly twice as effective)

Its complete **** we only have one "competitive" midfielder, I reckon even know majority of clubs would still try and buy Giggs and Scholes , if they ever thought it likely they would say yes. Not to mention Valencia and Carrick (one bad year shouldnt mean he gets sold), dont think much of Gibson myself and Ive written enough about Nani in the past to sink a battleship lol.

how many players have city bought now? I'm losing track, it seemed like every player during the world cup was linked with them

Only three I believe (Toure, Silva........?)

I don't know how any Utd fan could ever question Tevez's effort or commitment to the cause when he was with you.

Despite being dropped for a hugely inferior player, he contiunally gave 100% in the games he played and scored important goals at the back end of the season that helped you win the league.

I completely agree, Tevez always gave 100%, even when Fergie started favouring Berbatov. To suggest otherwise is utter rubbish, and I for one would have much preferred that Fergie had paid the £30 million to retain Tevez than sign the ineffective, lazy oaf we now have upfront.

I don't think he did.

He was great in the first season but his attitude was terrible the second, a lot of the time when he came on he didn't look like he wanted to win a starting spot. The Carling Cup game against Blackburn is the only outstanding performance I can remember, he got the odd goal but his play became really sloppy, his first touch in particular. He spent as much time whinging to the press as he did playing well.

I'm sorry but I honestly don't think any Utd fan can truthfully say that they didn't think Tevez gave 100% for them.

He was worshipped by the OT crowd right up untill his last game and played with the same commitment he's done wherever he's played. I'm not saying he played well (nor am I saying he didn't) but you couldn't question his effort on the pitch. It's fair to say that the majority of Utd fans were calling for him to start ahead of Berbatov all season and had he been playing so poorly and not been putting the effort in, that wouldn't have been the case.

Yes he made some comments in the press but that was clearly a 2 way thing; iirc, it all started when Fergie publically claimed that Tevez rejected your offer midway through the 08/09 season, an offer Tevez claimed you never made (and subsequently Gill admitted talks hadn't begun too).

You can say he wasn't worth £25m (£35m with the 'loan fee'), you can have a pop at him for going to City etc, but you can't knock his effort.

I've mentioned in the past regarding Mascherano, the effort and commitment of Argentinian players in general is unquestionable, no matter what's happening off the pitch.

edit: Yes it was Tom and when he and Tevez were both at Utd and now too :)

I laughed at that comment :D

There was one point in the Germany game where Messi lost the ball asked for a free kick, standing still with his arms raised while Germany countered and almost scored, at no point did Messi just get on with it and try to win the ball back.

Unquestionable commitment my **** :D

yeah sodding right. Gabby Heinze springs to mind.

I was talking about on the pitch :p

edit: and I did say in general shami. I'm sure you can find more Argentinian players that don't work hard but as a general rule and it certainly applies to Tevez, despite you being in denial, they give 100%.

I don't think even Man City are stupid enough to pay £20m for Drogba, wouldn't mind if they did though as he's getting a bit fragile and at best he's got one more year at the top in him.

Where on earth do people come up with these expiry dates, lets see, Drogba has scored 20, 8, 5 and 29 goals in his past 4 seasons, 4 seasons ago its 20 with just under 3000 minutes on the pitch, last year 5 goals in 1500minutes and then this season 2700 minutes 29 goals.

Without question the sign of a player in decline, right. Likewise in his past 4 seasons he's gotten 4, 6, 4, 13 assists. So he scored almost 6 times the amount of goals, and over 3 times the assists, in 80% more minutes.

Again a clear clear sign of his decline and obviously he's got one good season at the top at best.

I really really wish people would stop deciding, with entirely no evidence at all, that a player has X amount of games left before he loses all footballing ability and his leg's fall off. Drogba playing the way he did this season was noticably better than Rooney, he was god damned fantastic, won the league, and showing his age badly, recovered enough from a broken arm in a couple weeks to play in the world cup. He's strong as an ox, off his best season ever, off the best season any strikers had in the prem league for years and years whose gotten massively better in the past 18 months, and you've decided he's got a season left in him based on his age, while ignoring anything shown by the player himself.

Drogba for 20mil would be a steal, but can't exactly see why Drogba would want to leave a title winning club, for another one, he's on huge wages, he's rich, he's got large sponsorship deals and Chelsea have a better shot at the title next season.

First season without a doubt, second season no chance. His form was bloody awful in his second season, he couldn't trap the ball, it just bounced off him continually giving away possession. On the back of the second season, he didn't look the £35m that his agent was commanding for him.

And as for Argentinians giving their all, it's true for some of them like it is for every other nation out there.

Valencia is a winger, I'm talking center mids, or what just used to be called midfielders those that play in the middle in the middle of the park of which we have one 36 year old, one who played like he had never seen a football before last season (for what ever reason that was), one who I still dont think will ever play again, one who wont be fit till the end of september and one is utter garbage (Gibson)

Leaving Darren Fletcher to hang the midfield on for a minimum of the first month.
Sunderland and "another club" are apparently in for Carrick, what happens there will indicate what Fergies intentions are, If he goes, then someone else will be coming in, If he stays then its more of the same rubbish that got served up last year.

i so hope we sign Balotelli. him and a decent midfielder and we're set. Next year a goalkeeper and possibly a defender.

Using what money exactly? City will be willing to stump up around 30m for Balotelli so unless we match that we're not going to get him (for the record I don't even want him, has never impressed me) A decent midfielder has got to be over 15m at least, then you're unlikely to get a good goalie for under 10m unless we go for an unknown or an older one. Defender's the cheapest I've seen us linked with is Cahill for a rumoured 15m!! Again it would have to be an unknown.

Taking nothing away from Davids (who at one point was one of the best midfielders in the world) no he didn't, 37 goals in 460 appearances for Club and Country says he wasn't a goal scorer and although I dont have the stats he wasn't a creative player either

He was a bulldog in midfield, a great tackler but that's about it

do you have any idea how many assists he had? or how big a team player he was?

there was a video shown to me from a world class motivator at a conference, the guy has been involved with many football teams/players, olympic teams, businesses, etc. the guys credentials are amazing and he showed a video of david's in his speech. he has also worked with ronaldhino to name but one and also the british olympic team for nearly every olympics in the past few years.

it showed him (davids) and all his hard work in the game, constantly working for the team, it then showed him creating a goal by not only winning the ball, but setting up another player to score.

after the goal, only 1 player celebrated with the scorer, the whole rest of the team celebrated with davids. this showed that although you may not be in the limelight (scorer) your hard work and efforts are noticed and appreciated by others.

he is extremely young, and has shown on the world stage (champions league) that he is extremely fast and skilful. he is rated as high as aguero in my book.

our cash reserves? he's one of the most talented strikers around at the moment. we bid 29m for sneijder apparently and whether that goes through or not there are other midfield options out there. We were linked with simon kjaer i believe and he went to wolfsburg for under 15million iirc.
