He only got 11 goals in 40 games last season, can't be that talented

I think we could manage one over 20m signing, not 3 or 4. And we won't do any in all likeliness.

A lot as sub, and also fell out with Mourinho.

He does look a good player, but he doesn't like it when he doesn't get his own way.

Balotelli's disciplinary problems and difficult relationship with Mourinho continued in the 2009–10 season. In November, Inter drew 1–1 against Roma and Mourinho criticized his players, even going as far as saying that Balotelli "came close to a zero rating". The young striker again incurred the wrath of Juve fans in the heated Derby d'Italia away encounter with Juventus on 5 December 2009 which Inter lost 2–1. When he was elbowed by Juve midfielder Felipe Melo in the shoulder, he fell on the pitch clutching his face and was promptly booked while Melo was sent off for a second yellow card. The incident sparked a fiery altercation between teammate Thiago Motta and Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. The falling-out between player and manager reached its peak in the eve of the UEFA Champions League second leg against Chelsea, after the young striker was not called-up following an altercation with Mourinho. The youngster was then criticized by several senior players such as captain Javier Zanetti and veteran defender Marco Materazzi as well as his own agent. in the wake of Inter's 1–0 win at Stamford Bridge, London. In March, he came under heavy criticism from fans after he publicly sported a Milan (Inter's crosstown rivals) jersey on the Italian show Striscia la Notizia.

In the wake of recent tense situation, Balotelli released a statement of apology in Internazionale's official website, that reads:
“ "I am sorry for the situation that has been created recently. I am the first person who has suffered because I adore football and I want to play, and now I am waiting in silence so I can return to being useful to my team. I want to put the past behind me, look to the future and concentrate on the upcoming commitments and make myself ready."

Mario Balotelli

After being frozen out of the team due to the situation, Balotelli was recalled to the squad for the match against Bologna and he marked his return with a goal in a 3–0 win. However, he once again caused controversy in a Champions League semi-final against Barcelona on 20 April, as he threw his jersey on the ground after the final whistle, in response to Inter fans who had booed him to criticize his poor performance;his reaction, which caused notable disappointment among fans, teammates and football pundits, was succeeded by an attempt by a small group of supporters to physically attack Balotelli after the end of the game.

Wow he sounds like exactly the kind of professional I'd want at United :/

Yup, but it is also Mourinho! :p

He's a very talented player though, no doubt. Is he what Utd needs? Probably not.

Utd need like a Sneijder/Ozil/Schweinsteger type of player really, I'm guessing? Especially with injuries. They need a player similar to Scholes before he got (even) slower.

First season without a doubt, second season no chance. His form was bloody awful in his second season, he couldn't trap the ball, it just bounced off him continually giving away possession. On the back of the second season, he didn't look the £35m that his agent was commanding for him.

And as for Argentinians giving their all, it's true for some of them like it is for every other nation out there.

Playing rubbish and not giving 100% effort/commitment are different things, take Park for example :p

And Tevez may not have been as good in his second season as he was in his first but he wasn't as bad as some Mancs are making out, since joining City.

Unless he suddenly became a much worse player over 1 summer (and then became a much better one over the next summer) then he wasn't putting in 100% effort if he was playing so crap :p

Balotelli has I believe scored close to a goal for every 90minutes of playing time over the last couple of seasons. Like his attitude or not, for his age he is exceptionally talented. To be fair to him, if I were subjected to half of what he has been over in italy, I'd probably act up as well.

The fact that he was dropped for a certain Bulgarian wouldn't have helped his form.

And like I said, his 2nd season was only crap in your eyes because he ended up joining City :p

Surely the fact that right up until his last game for you, the OT crowd was calling for Fergie to 'sign him up', tells you something?

I'm sure that if we'd kept him you'd be telling us right now how good value for money he was... Just as I'm sure if Alonso had stayed with you I'd be telling you he was one of the world's best midfielders and you'd not be underplaying his importance to the team as you kind fo did last season iirc ;)

I'll think you'll find I said prior to you signing Berbatov that it made no sense for you to sign him because Tevez done everthing he could do and done it better.

Also I never said Alonso was 1 of the best midfielders in the world, just better than Carrick which doesn't say much :p

Nor did I underplay his importance to the team, losing him didn't help but it wasn't the difference between us finishing 2nd and 7th like some clowns like to think.

edit: and I've never said Tevez was a superstar, played incredible for you in his 2nd season and was worth another £25m. I simply find it hard to understand (well actually that's not true) that Utd fans can claim that he didn't give everything for you on the pitch.

Oh yes that would be why I was saying he was rubbish all season and we shouldn't sign him....because I could see the future of course.

And why would being dropped for a Bulgarian affect his form if he was still giving 100% ;)

Yeah it tells me that a lot of United fans are idiots, the same ones that wanted us to sell Nani in January no doubt.

Is the 2nd part a serious question  Some players need a run of games to play their best, that doesn't mean they're not trying their hardest when they're not playing well

Oh, and I agree with 1 part of you post, I'll let you guess which part :p

edit: anyway, I'm honestly not that fussed, I just find it funny how fickle football fans can be (not Utd specifically :p ).

I think as a man ud fan, we shouldnt worry too much about the upcoming season. sure we could do with a couple of players. a CM and a Rb would be my choices. hose are the two areas imho we are not overly hot in at present.

CM is a definite worry area, on paper we should be strong there. Carrick / Anderson / Scholes / Giggs / Fletcher / Hargreaves , however last season we were not.

We are also missing a CM in that bunch that can run forward with the ball, create something, get on the end of something. hose are all hard working type players, no creativity in a CM sense. Anderson would be the only one who could do something in that department but he is a shadow of the player we signed. he still has the potential but i think it will take another club or manager before he realises it.

Signing Sneider would be a great siging but would show why I am annoyed wih ferguson. He went to intermilan last season for £10million, we would be paying £30 million for him.

Why we didnt do as i said back then and go for a player plus cash deal for ronaldo is beyond me. More than that we could have pushed for a Robben / Sneider and money deal for him.

anyhoo the past is the past. roll on this season.

I agree. Rival fans laughed at how 'expensive' Pique was when we sold him, now he's a 'superstar'. I guess the £7 odd million we got for him doesn't seem that much nowadays.
