Everyone makes mistakes, even Peter Schmeichel did!

Look at how everyone laughed at Gomes at Spurs too. All of a sudden he is god. :p

Exactly last season Gomes was beyond a joke...making the most silliest of errors but this season hes improved ten fold:p....Not saying Foster is going to be the world class gk we need but with what we have, we cant get any worse...well we could if we went for Gomes:p

Pretty sure Foster made a fantastic save against Arsenal when they were 1-0 up at Old Trafford this season. Had he not made that save who knows what would have happened..

I don't think judging him on being in and out of the team and not having a chance to settle is fair personally. I always get the impression he is a very talented goalkeeper that just needs to find his feet somewhere.

You can have him, for nothing.

We should be getting at least 8m for Foster, we should have got more for Howard really. Couple the England international with the England premium and 8m is pretty damn reasonable considering some other fees.

Barthez made some world-class saves in his time but that didn't make him an overall world-class goalkeeper. Two vital attributes to a solid goalkeeper are constistency and decision-making, which Foster conspicuously lacks (remember the goal against City where Foster effectively tried to nutmeg Tevez instead of hoofing it away?).

I have no doubt that Foster will improve but to be honest that's mostly because he has nowhere to go but up. :p

Whichever way you read that though the only player to me that stands out is Carrick :( Would be very harsh and unwise IMO to sell him after having 1 average season after 3 very good ones but maybe Fergie has seen something in him this season that he hasn't liked despite the good things he's done in our 3 title winning seasons... who knows

Foster and Berba are first surely!!!

Whether he has that "idilic" touch or not, he still doesnt score enough - and I dont think I need to say anything about Foster

Unfortunately Carrick may be under threat also (I hope not though as three decent seasons shouldnt count for nowt - much more than other two I mentioned) but I sincerely hope not

If a midfielder goes, maybe it will be Anderson for his disappearing act mid-season (although he probably wont have healed before transfer window closes so that might not happen)

With new shirt sponsors (and recent signing of other sponsors) hopefully SAF will have a decent wedge to spend even if he doesnt get a brilliant price for Berba (who surely HAS to go?)

One thing for Carrick is his Home Grown "credit".......

I wish Fulham had the money to go for Foster, he'd be a great replacement for Schwarzer...god knows what we'll do with keepers, our two have a combined age of 75!

Don't really see that MC have done much wrong with this Bellendamy/Palacios 'scandal', they have a right to bid on players if they want, and I'm sure stuff like this has gone on before (clubs making agreements not to pursue certain players if they get a free run at other ones). Apart from anything else it makes sense for teams not to get into a bidding war with each other if they are only going to sign one player.

As for Buffon, good keeper, I wonder if he just fancies a big pay day in England though, his best days may be behind him (although as a keeper you would hope to get at least 5 good years out of him). Thing is Juve paid some ridiculous fee for him, £32m or summat like that, back when the pound was a lot stronger, so I reckon they will be wanting a big fee for him, obviously not that high but certainly around the €20m mark. One thing to remember is he stuck with Juve when they got relegated a few years back, so on the face of it he doesn't strike me as a player who is(was) unhappy at the club.

Ben Foster I've always rated, fantastic distribution, however this season I expected him to take advantage of VdS' injury and make the #1 jersey his own, he failed to do so.

Watching the Liverpool game the other day Torres looked really depressed on the sidelines, I mean he was just sat there with more of a sulk face than Ruud and Berba stuck together, slouched in his seat, arms folded etc. Add that to his (and Gerrard's) reaction to him being subbed the other week and the lack of CL football next year and you wonder if he might fancy a move to Chelsea, Barca, Inter etc.

Not sure Fergie has gone to the press recently saying that both will be going no where whereas Carrick who has pretty much been our first choice centre midfielder over the last 4 years has suddenly found himself benched with no words of encouragement from SAF (not in the press anyway)

Personally our of the 3 Foster is the only one that I would let go, Berbatov would be handy as a 3rd choice striker (presuming we buy another one) & Carrick simply has to stay as he's our best midfielder
