If Hodgson doesn't get them in the top four at least then that's two sets of supporters that are going to hate him.
I don't think any Liverpool supporter expects a top four finish next season because the quality of the squad is going to take a massive hit in the coming weeks. I also don't think many, if any, Liverpool supporters will hold him responsible.

Having said that, if by some miracle we do keep the current squad together and we end up finishing in the bottom half he'll have a lot to answer for.

no one on here. I mean you can draw some pretty good conclusions that they haven't got a spare 50mill or so flying around but they could have nothing or they could have 20 mill or so before player sales.

Interesting. Eriksson has been favourite for Fulham job in the bookies at 1/2 etc...Ottmar Hitfield has just jumped in as second favourite coming in at 3/1 and 2/1. Eriksson back to 11/10.

Not too much news on the transfer front this weekend. :(

I wonder what's going to happen at Liverpool though, they seem to be in almost as much of a mess as Fulham. If Hodgson doesn't get them in the top four at least then that's two sets of supporters that are going to hate him.

Not true. Most Liverpool supporters understand the underlying financial problems, and realise that ALL the teams that finished above them this year are in a far superior financial situation, and all have more coherance & stability at the boardroom level. ( I am sure hodgson wont have any say in who goes).

I have said before, i would be pleased to finish in the top 7 this season, - that is taking into consideration the likely transfer of some key players, without recouping the full transfer value for re-investment.

Back to the transfer news:

Hodgson has given an interview where he says that he rates Insua as a player, however Fiorentina are in talks to sign him but that they started before he became manager and he doesn't know how advanced the talks are.

Good to hear that our manager is running things:rolleyes:

btw, that's not a dig at Hodgson, but the ****s running our club.
Liverpool have rejected a £5million bid for Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva from Palermo, however talks are continuing between the two clubs, LFC Globe understands.

Brazilian on his way to Italy?

Liverpool rejected a bid for the Brazilian last week, however the two clubs are still in discussions with the Reds demanding atleast £8million for the 23-year-old.

Roy Hodgson is believed to have no say in the deal as talks began with Palermo before he was appointed as manager and Christian Purslow is heading the talks.

Hodgson isn’t keen on losing the Brazilian, who started in 32 of 38 Premier League games last season, but is unable to influence discussions which are already in an advanced stage.

Purslow is set to hold out for at least £8million and it is likely that the Italians would match that price after letting go of midfielders Mark Bresciano and Fabio Simplicio.

He's got no control at all :(

Mind you, I think I would be happy with £8 million for Lucas. Providing a chunk of that becomes available.

Interesting though that they are heading for Italy. Got Mascherano saying he wants Italy, Insua yesterday being linked with Fiorentina in Italy and now Lucas today being linked with Italy.

I also see that Nabil El Zhar says he wants a transfer, which is fine by me, never thought he was any good anyway and clearly not going to make any impact now at the age of 23.

and ozil did not lose the ball?

the teams were tired they have played a lot in not much time. same in the previous game germany played. they just looked like they had played 1 game too many.

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti is unperturbed by stories linking striker Mario Balotelli with Manchester rivals United and City. The 19-year-old could be a £35m summer transfer target, but Moratti said: "I am never angry if someone says that one of my players is great, that they would happily buy them, because it means that they appreciate what we have."

Probably exactly what he meant when there was rumours that we were interested in Sneijder

Torres looked like he did something major sprinting for that ball then towards the end of extra time. In contrast Fabregas was really influential after coming off the bench. Hope it doesn't make it more likely that Cesc is the player Barca splurge the rest of their kitty on this summer.

Someone should sign Diego Perez, the Uruguayan ball-winning midfielder, the one that looks like a mini-Vidic. He's 30 and plays for Monaco, so someone could snap him up for £5-10 mil perhaps, been impressed with him alongside Arevalo this world cup. Like to see him at Arsenal.

(yes I'm making up my own gossip, because I can't see us linked with anyone today!! :p )
