italy have changed rules so they can only have 1 non EU player.

its time to stop bidding on EU players and italians fergie... go for Pato and the rest of the south americans while they have to clear their ranks.

id even take a 20million benzema over a 35m Mario Balotelli. is Balotelli 7 times better than Rossi? or macheda? if not then we would be foolish to even think about it.

Torres looked like he did something major sprinting for that ball then towards the end of extra time. In contrast Fabregas was really influential after coming off the bench. Hope it doesn't make it more likely that Cesc is the player Barca splurge the rest of their kitty on this summer.

Someone should sign Diego Perez, the Uruguayan ball-winning midfielder, the one that looks like a mini-Vidic. He's 30 and plays for Monaco, so someone could snap him up for £5-10 mil perhaps, been impressed with him alongside Arevalo this world cup. Like to see him at Arsenal.

(yes I'm making up my own gossip, because I can't see us linked with anyone today!! :p )

I thought Perez had his good games, but was playing against Khedira and him with the irritating to spell name, both who have been massively overhyped, along with Oezil(or Ozil, I keep seeing both names on team line ups on tv, in reports, whats correct?, either BBC or ITV were using Oezil and more than a couple of websites). Perez didn't have that tough a job to do in that game, and Arevalo looked very dodgey at points, against Ghana he failed to intercept the ball before the goal even though it was about a yard away from him, he made no effort to go for it, then he backed MILES away from Muntari as he was shaping to shoot. Both made critical mistakes in all the big games, basic and stupid critical mistakes.

If anything can be said, DM's can look okay against crap teams and have shown to be utterly hopeless against better teams, look at Melo, Bommel, Busquets, Song, and multiple other DM's, while the best DM on show in the entire tournament was Gilberto Silva, thank god we refused to pay him a fair wage because he was over 30, he's had 2-3 fantastic seasons since he left, confed cup win where he was probably the best Brazilian on show throughout.

To be cynical, Torres was having another mare, looking like Adebayor with his simple pass into feet, simple cushion of the ball required for control but somehow first touch would take the ball 5 yards away from him. My guess would be a dive to waste time rather than a real injury.

Are you referring to him pulling up near the end of the match with what looks like a hamstring injury? or an earlier one?

Mind you, I think I would be happy with £8 million for Lucas. Providing a chunk of that becomes available.

Maybe last summer but not now, he's worth more than that. He come on leaps and bounds last season and has become a more than handy player (and still improving).

Agree. Would be gutted if we lost both him and Mascherano and replaced them with Gilberto Silva and Sharner. If that's the kind of transfers in and out we'll be seeing we'll struggle to finish in the top half.

He's saying goodbye ;)

Torres went back to the changing room before the trophy presentation to get a Liverpool scarf, that's an indication he's staying though :p

Thought the same when I saw Torres holding the World Cup with a Liverpool scarf wrapped around him. Obviously loves the club but doesn't mean he won't be off in a few weeks.

I agree thats he has improved and is handy, depends who is pushing for the move. If its Lucas himself that wants to go then not much can be done about it. Personally I would rather sell Masch and keep Lucas, but will have to wait and see what unfolds.

There's nothing to suggest he's looking to leave. As for rather selling Masch and keeping Lucas:eek::confused:

For footballing reasons or to raise money?

Anyway, it's almost certain that Masch will leave; he wants to go and only has 2 years left on his deal. There's no chance of him signing a new deal anytime soon and if he's not sold this summer, his value will halve by next summer.

I say I would rather sell Masch because he has intimated on a number of different occasions that he wants to go ...somewhere. So if we had to get rid of one of them I would rather him, both because of his obvious desire to go and for the price of him but not because I dont think he is good.

Bit of a none story really, I can't see United paying anywhere near the amount it would take to get him and I also can't see them matching City on price or for the fact he will want go and play for Mancini.

That and the fact that he's an utter ****.

If it wasn't for the money then no matter whether Masch wants to go or not, I'd still keep him.

We saw last season that even when wants to leave he'll give 100% and won't let you down.

Trouble is that doesnt necessarily mean you are going to get that every season, the longer you force a player to stay at your club against their will, the more vocal they become against the team/manager and the more disruptive they become to the team. If a player is adamant that they want to leave then I would always let them go. If they can be swayed into staying then its a different ballgame, but if they are absolutely set that they want to go, I just dont see the point in forcing them to stay against the potential trouble they can cause.
