Barca wouldn't accept that(I think they increased his buyout clause to over 200 million euros), nor would Messi go.

Yeah I don't think Messi would ever move from Barca, let alone for their rivals, he has such a commendable take on the game, very level headed which is even more impressive given his age.

Non story really but just thought I'd share, I guess like the article says it shows that Real Madrid are yet again going to try and win cups by throwing money around first and thinking of squad chemistry second.

Well it just shows Real Madrid won't learn and are still going to try and throw their weight around and buy individual superstars :p

I really don't like this fawning over Messi's attitude. He's level headed, and impressive for his age? He's on a ridiculous wage to a point he could never spend it, he's been beloved by his club since early teens, everyone loves him and holds him up as a god where he lives and plays.

The fact he'd be unlikely to move to Real doesn't exactly make him the worlds nicest most level headed guy.

He's playing for the best team in the world, who keep winning things, on a embarassing wage, with not a trouble in the world. He's one of the very few players in the world who really hasn't had to put more than 2 seconds thought into if its worth leaving their club, its not like he's on 20k at Arsenal and wondering if he should stay or go to Barca on 300k a week. He's been in just about the best position of any player in the world at every stage of his career, since the age of what 16, he's been one of if not the highest paid player for his age at every stage of his career.

OK, he seems a decent bloke so far, but he's hardly got a difficult life to cope with does he.

Jesus, in the papers this morning that Wenger wants SWP for a cut price after City want rid of him. City want rid of him for a reason, he's truly god damned awful. He's identical to Theo, pace, and utterly without a thought in his head. He's lazy and completely at fault for not tracking back in the attack that Spurs scored from. We play a 4-5-1 with a billion strikers in the squad, Nasri, Rosicky, Arshavin, Eboue, Theo(supposedly) who are all basically right footed players Wenger likes to play on the wing, SWP is significantly worse than all of them but Theo, and frankly Bendtner started the year on the right wing, and was superb in all his games there.

If Wenger did buy SWP, or even tries, the board should fire him, at the moment I'm all for Wenger becoming some semi director of football or academy director or something. If he's gone mad enough to buy Theo Mark 2, or the original Theo, he should just go.

Dodgy keeper,
dodgy RB only just back from injury,
dodgy main CB, hardly played
dodgy Terry, who's form and attitude has stunk over the last few months
dodgy Cole, only just back from injury, slightly Gay
Right wings a joke, none of them have had a good season or have been injured for most of it.
Gerrard's form has been shocking
Downing or Milner or Barry or <insert left footed Englishman> all as bad as eachother, Milner has to be favourite though.
Crouch/Heskey/Defoe/C.Cole/ Whoever, all utter **** when you look at other top teams strike forces..

Worst post you have ever made

How can anyone describe Cole as slightly gay :D

Other than that I totally agree :)

Harry Redknapp wouldn't mind a big signing this summer ahead of their champions league campaign. Berbatov is available at the right price, no scrap that, he's also available at the wrong price too. :p

G|mp hit the nail on the head about the shape of the England squad ahead of the WC, quite scary really that there's no set in stone first team selection, I hope Capello has plans B and C in place to introduce the backup players seamlessly into the first team should even more injuries occur before June because he's certainly not given a number of players a chance during any of the friendlies, opting to stick with the same big name players.

using the powers of football manager 2010 I've created the team SAF should be aiming for next season :)

had a budget of £76m.

Arsene Wenger is expecting Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh to be Arsenal's first signing of the summer on a free transfer.

Not bad for a freebie :p

The question is does he count as one of Arsene's '2-3' though?

Hopefully not, especially as he'll ride the bench ALL season long at 50k a week.

Wengers literally lost what little of his mind he has left.

Vela actually started the last game, and with even the tinniest little bit of form, showed he is a superb finisher, RVP is clearly one of our best players, Eddie is better than Vela but hasn't played more than a couple in a row in 3 years.

We have several strikers better than Chamakh and most of them can't get a game since we moved to a single striker system.

EDIT:- Its also ridiculous to talk about free transfers as freebies, they AREN'T, ever.

Sol was on 100k a week because there was no transfer fee and got a massive signing on bonus, thats pretty much standard, if a player can save you 10 million on a transfer fee by waiting out his contract, chances are he'll be getting 6-7million of that back in a large contract and a far bigger signing on fee than usual.

Gallas, years later, is on 80k a week, despite having joined as a title winning player from the best team in the country, yet Sol, years before joined on 100k a week when his previous contract would have been hugely lower than what Gallas was on at Chelsea.

Chamakh, is likely on 10-20k a week more than if we paid for him, and I'd guess a few million extra in signing on fee than usual. He'll end up marginally cheaper than normal but still "cost" us 6-7million extra throughout his contract, at least.

We have AMPLE cover for upfront, we have no decent cover at the back. Considering the last 2 seasons have imploded due to Gallas/Verm or Gallas/Toure getting injured due to never being rested, personally if we have to pay someone good 50k to sit on the bench just in case, its a CB I want, not a 6th striker.

I agree with the SWP's. We certainly dont need him.

With the striker though I disagree. I am still keeping faith in Bendtner (I think there are only three of us in the country that does still :p) But imagine if we had someone like tores or drogba up front. RVP is in my eyes one of the best strikers at the moment but you can never expect him to play more than half the season without injury.

Personally I dont think Wenger will get another striker with this new guy virtually signed up.

Gallas is stalling which means we should be getting in at least two CB's with silvestra HOPEFULLY leaving in the summer. Then I think he will buy another experienced midfielder, which I hope to god it isnt SWP
