Don't think Arsenal could afford (or Arsene would spend) the money required for Subotic and Kjaer, think they are going to be demanding high fees.

I think we could afford one of them, definitely not both as you say, but Wenger is going to be carrying on his traditions I believe. I don't think he'll pay what he deems to be over the odds and to be honest I think we'll end up going for someone like Cahill, although that depends if Bolton will sell. We can't be on bad terms with them as they've just borrowed Jack Wilshere for a season so maybe Owen Coyle will let Cahill come to us, I reckon that he'd love to join Arsenal and Coyle seems like a decent enough bloke, I doubt he'd stop a young player developing. West Ham would probably be keen to offload some players and I wouldn't mind taking Rob Green and Upson off their hands.

I'd like to see Matthew Upson, Subotic, Kjaer and Jerome Boateng. Although knowing Wenger we'll have none of those but we will get some South American for 50p. Hope he doesn't pursue players like Metzelder, last time I saw him play for Germany he was utterly woeful, him and Mertesacker were just getting turned inside out, although that was a few years ago at Euro 2008. I haven't even seen him play for Real Madrid and they aren't exactly defensively amazing so I don't know what that says about him. Nice and tall though.

You cant have Subotic, I've already sent a sealed bid of £15,000,000 plus Berbatov, Park, Gibson and Foster for him.

I do like him and he will come good!!! :p
I agree:

Quite a step down from Hart. :p

Also - I'd like to see Arsenal go for Samba? or Jagielka.

I wouldn't say he's a big step down, scary thing is that despite being 4 years older, Foster has played less games than Hart and that's not only down to not showing enough for Man Utd and not being selected, but his injuries a few years back. As a goalkeeper, he's a few years behind where he should be experience wise. Talent wise, he's an excellent shot stopper, decision making isn't there yet and like every goalkeeper in the league, he flaps. I wish him all the best.

Depends but if Wenger really wanted them then im sure the funds would be made available but as everyone knows...Wenger doesnt spend £20mill+ on a player...dont think he ever has in his time at Arsenal....maybe this summer he will but i dont hold much hope of that happening.

Bender has his moments...probloem with him is his first touch is just so absolutely dire that it makes you want to cry...if he had a better first touch then he would be much more effective.

Getting rid of Eduardo and Vela and leaving Bender, RVP and Chamakh as our main strikers would work well i think....as long as Bender and RVP dont get injured for long periods and also Chamakh....hopefully he isnt made out of glass:p.

no, i think you are doubly wrong!

Eduardo is a class act when he isnt recovering from a broken leg. bendtner - he just lacks kill, finishing and he is usually unlucky too (barca when he just couldnt shovel it in, time after time)... i predict he will leave in a season or two.

crouch would do a better job for you.

haha ^^^ :D

Looks like Foster is set for a £6m move to Birmingham.

£6m is quite a sum for someone who is now a backup keeper and has barely played in the last year or so. A good keeper but not a number 1 at Old Trafford.

Not sure what the article says but £4m (£2m addons) upfront is all thats gaurenteed - which puts a different meaning to it imo - for English pedigree (and he will come good out of the spotlight of OT I believe) I think thats a bargain

Hardly 'splashing the cash' though is it?

To be honest I really posted because Loki used to stupid name to refer to Newcastle. I thought this wasn't allowed? I thought I'd do the same for Man Utd in the interests of fairness.

Dude no offence meant with my original post and it certainly wasn't a dig directed to you personally.

My father in law is a Newcastle fan and I have often refered to his team as the...................well you know what and no offence took on his part. rightly or wrongly I assumed it was just a bit of fun.

As I say no offence meant.

Yep as usual we're getting nowhere near what we should be getting :(

to be fair he hasnt played for Utd in nearly 6 months (or so it seems) and not due to injury - so while he could have gone for £8-10m (absolute max) as he was clearly 3rd choice, Utd didnt have much bargaining power - plus Foster wanted to leave anyway

(hopefully this also means the Utd legal team have time to agree purchases instead of dragging a sale on :D)

Hmm, who was the last "English pedigree" keeper to make a move...oh yeah, Scott Carson to the mighty West Brom. Enough said.

If Foster plays for England so can iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.... etc etc :p

What would you know as a Utd fan??:p...Eduardo was showing some promise before his broken leg...now hes cack simple as that and its time Wenger got rid of him...id rather have Bender than Edu....i dont think Edu even scored this season and if he did then it must have been a goal or 2 whereas Bender helped us immensely when RVP was injured...sure hes not the finished article but hes a better option than Edu....i would say give him another season then decide what to do with him if he doesnt perform.

Crouch is a one trick pony....thanks but no thanks to having him...

Arsenal have said they can compete with anybody for players this season, even Man Utd or Chelsea. Not sure if Arsenal will actually test that statement at all but the money is there if the value is (which is never is)

I definately dont think we should get rid of Bendtner. He will come good but I would say in a season or two. He is still young.

Edu is a tough one, he has never quite been the same after his injury. His finishing touch used to be 2nd to none but I think the nerves have got to him this year. I hope he has a nice long break(no pun intended ;)) and see what he does next season for us.

We have a lot of players coming through but I hope that does not put Wenger off bringing in some experience. A couple of 26-28 year olds would be nice.

He was worth a lot more than £4m /£6m while playing for West Ham a few years ago - at least that shows what he is capable of (as I said out of the spot light), Ive no doubt he will get his confidence back playing somewhere else and could easily make No1 his own by Euro 2012 tournement (not the qualifiers of course)

Also, very annoying to see the constant criticism of Bendtner, I suppose none of you saw Drogba at 22/23? He was rather awful, obviously most people here would have written him off forever though lol.
