Mags are rather scraping the barrel now, aren't they? I know Taylor has shoulder crock and Hughton has no cash, but even with Campbell's pedigree it still strikes me as a signing that stands to do more harm than good, especially if Newcastle start shipping goals. He has never been one to stand up unless it is to have a go at someone else - witness his words on Capello leaving him out this summer - if he shows up, takes the cash and buggers off, I will be mighty peeved :/

Did you not watch him at the end of last season? He's certainly capable at the top level, and to be fair to him his comments about the WC squad were bang on.

I've been hearing a loan deal to Spurs for the last 2 weeks.

Also links to Villa should Young be sold.

Yeah if you read the quotes from HR he keeps banging on about how there will loan deals to be had that might interest Spurs on the basis on the new squad rules, basically he is saying Man City have 9234234 players and so there will be a couple of decent ones going begging (pretty much guarenteed that they won't fit all their forwards in the 25). Still somewhat baffled as to why he feels he needs more options when he already has Keane, Crouch, Pavlechenko and Defoe though.

This is Sol Campbell we are talking about, the ONLY thing he cares about is his wallet. And I can respect him for that, because at least he is consistent - whatever deal he goes for will be the one with the phattest cheque, there is no question of footballing reasons interfering with his principles.

I'm fully expecting us to sell or at least loan Keane. And I think the Pav staying comments from his agent may have been to bump up the price.

Maybe so but again HR sounds open to the prospect of Keane staying:

"Robbie is back with us and is working hard," said Redknapp. "He is a fantastic professional, who trains hard and wants to play. I still think he has a lot to offer. The thing is he wants to play all the time.

"There is every chance he could start the season but if it doesn't work out then I'm sure he will be the first one to come and tell me that he needs to play somewhere."

So maybe there is the possibility he will give him some gametime in August and if he doesn't set the world on fire look to offload him before the windows shuts, difficult to say. I find it all rather hard to fathom myself as he's a good player, he should be in the squad for every game.

Hasn't Keane scored in 2 of your 3 pre-season games so far?

Seems like he's bang in form and is more likely to start the season than Defoe or Crouch IMO

Saw this earlier and hoped it was just a bad rumour. At least the price has dropped by £250k since I read it though :o

Hopefully he's coming in as either cover at RB with Degen leaving, or as 2nd choice LB.......please!

He's no Figueroa then? :p

He's a decent player and has the right passport, not too expensive for an Englishman either. I'd imagine Hodgson wants him to cover both fullback positions.
