Just out of interest is there any exact quotes from the conversation between AW and CF after the world cup in reference to "it was the most difficult conversation I have ever had with Arsene"?
I don't think that conversation will ever be published because AFAIK that was a private conversation between two people. And the word Fabregas used to describe it was "emotional".

Loads of talk going around about Kenny Huang being behind a Liverpool take over bid, and heavily backed by a sovereign wealth fund which apparently would dwarf the likes of Man City.

Here's the article for anyone interested.

Liverpool’s ownership battle picked up pace yesterday when it emerged that a Chinese tycoon was in negotiation with Royal Bank of Scotland to take control of the club.

Kenny Huang, who is partnered by one of the biggest sovereign wealth funds in the Far East, is determined to wrest control from Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr before the transfer window closes. Last month, Huang made approaches to a number of key figures at Anfield to emphasise the seriousness of the bid in an attempt to forestall a summer exodus of players.

Fernando Torres, who reports back to training today, will be asked to delay any decision on his future until the outcome of the takeover bid is known.

Liverpool have been up for sale since April, when the American owners appointed Martin Broughton, the British Airways chairman, to oversee any deal. However, last week, no viable bidder had come forward and Broughton has not moved the process on.

Hicks and Gillett took over three years ago in a leveraged buyout and owe RBS about £237 million. Hicks has consistently quoted an asking price of £800 million club but business analysts consider this unrealistic, with £325 million a more reasonable figure.

The approach by Huang guarantees RBS the repayment of the vast majority of the loan because the bid guarantees to clear Liverpool’s debt.

Huang, who was first linked with a buyout at Liverpool two years ago, has an impressive track record as head of QSL Sports Limited, a Hong Kong-based investment company. He was instrumental in taking Yao Ming, the basketball superstar, to the Houston Rockets in the NBA.

Sources close to Huang said that he was eager to push the Liverpool deal through to make use of the transfer window. Roy Hodgson, the manager, would be given funds to add to a squad that dropped out of the top four and the Champions League places last season.

As well as generating revenue, Huang plans to build a new stadium as quickly as possible. The Americans made a similar promise in February 2007, pledging that ground would be broken on the Stanley Park site within 60 days, but work has still not started.

Not going to get my hopes up personally, been let down way too many times with previous takeover talk.

EDIT - It was started by the times, then the Telegraph reported it now the a Echo reporter is on it.

There were a few articles in today's rags reporting that Gillett was in talks with some Syrian (who's coincidently a friend of his sons), who's fronting a bid for a group of Arabs, over a possible sale. However it was also being suggested that the Syrian/Arab bid isn't serious and Gillett is using it as a way of stalling RBS, who are in advanced talks with another group.

This would tie in with the above but like you say.....

Yea I heard that Gillett was using some other guy to stall the Huang deal because Huang went straight to RBS which would mean Gillett & Hicks could walk away without making any money whatsoever.

If that happened, I would probably die laughing.

Well yea they probably put all their expenses onto the club, Hopefully we can put their plane tickets back to America on the club, That's one expense I wouldn't mind.

Loads of talk going around about Kenny Huang being behind a Liverpool take over bid, and heavily backed by a sovereign wealth fund which apparently would dwarf the likes of Man City.

City are owned by a huge investment group from Abu Dhabi, not officially backed by the sovereign investment groups but, basically all the huge Abu Dhabi investment firms are backed by sovereign money.

In other words they would be incredibly unlikely to be able to "dwarf" the backing City have, no matter who they are, theres a handful of groups in the world who could dwarf groups backed by the Abu Dhabi royals.

Would obviously be good for Liverpool to get out of debt, but they will be several years out from being able to get a new stadium planned, permission for it, and then built.

Thing is, as City have shown(and I said multiple times 2 years ago) Chelsea were the second best team in the country, playing great football, with the main team established before Mourinho came in, spent a tonne on extra players and won the league.

You can't just spend 500mil on players and have them gel and play great football instantly. Similarly, Chelsea were very strong before the take over and didn't actually improve much to win the league, but also there wasn't anyone else spending 100mil + a season to improve the team, if Liverpool became mega rich, they'd have Chelsea, City, Utd with great teams/money to burn through if they want.

Liverpool, even if they became the richest team in the world I don't think would be serious title contenders for a good few years, at the bare minimum.

but they will be several years out from being able to get a new stadium planned, permission for it,

You do know we have plans for countless different stadium designs and permission for 2 different designs already? In fact we've spent over £50m on designs and planning permission.

So your saying that we cant win the league?
Not a chance in hell...your manager isnt that good and neither is your team despite what you or other City fans might think...maybe in a few yrs time you may very well challenge for the EPL title but at the moment...nope

Europa League? Maybe.

Hell the Spuds have a better chance of winning Europa league than City;).

Oh come off it. You can argue "pre-season friendlies don't count" but seriously, losing 3-0 to Inter Milan? At least get a decent result if you want to rub shoulders with Europe's best (Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal... etc.).

Maybe in a few seasons but based on recent results and the development of your squad, it won't happen this season. I'd put money on it.
