He wouldn't flop as such. He'd score loads against **** sides but whenever he came up against 1 of the bigger sides or in important games, he'd go missing, just like he's done throughout his career so far.

+1

He's a good player, has an amazing touch and close controll at times.

Just seems to go missing against a decent defense or in pressure games.

Whilst he hasn't had the best start to his career in Spain, it's not strictly true to say that he's gone missing in big games.

He's scored against Real (H), A.Madrid (A), Stuttgart (A), Mallorca (A), Arsenal x 2 (A). Also chipping in with a couple of match winners.

Having said that, some of his general play has been crap.

Dude no offence meant with my original post and it certainly wasn't a dig directed to you personally.

My father in law is a Newcastle fan and I have often refered to his team as the...................well you know what and no offence took on his part. rightly or wrongly I assumed it was just a bit of fun.

As I say no offence meant.

It's OK, it's true its not exactly the worst insult. :p

I think I was just in a bad mood that day! Sorry for the return insult. :p

The 'glory days' of hooliganism well and truly gone then. :(

;)

So Berba says he's going to fight for his place at Man Utd

Link

As a Man Utd fan I have to say im disappointed, im hoping he goes.

Good chance that we might end up losing Gallas as he wants a 2 yr deal at 80k a week, which the chairman of Arsenal has more or less said its not going to happen...shame if we lose him as hes very good and has the experience but if we can get a decent replacement for him then i dont think we will miss him much.

Ah, but what behind-the-scenes information is he privy to to feel he has to say that? Usually players would ask for private assurances from the boss and leave it at that.

I hope he stays, but partly because I know we'll make nowhere near the original price tag back off him. If he regains his form and Fergie plays him in more of a playmaker next season, he could still 'make it' however.

Yeah Peter Hill-Wood said this about Gallas:

His demands are quite extravagant and I don’t think we are prepared to go along with it. We would very much like him to stay, but I think for one year, and not on the money he wants. He is a good player, but you have got to draw the line somewhere.

To me that makes it look as though Gallas will be gone for certain. France boss, Raymond Dominatrix has said that Gallas will have to earn his place otherwise Phillipe Mexes is going to get it, so I expect our Willy is desperate to play, who knows, if another club doesn't come in then perhaps he'll accept a deal on our terms. I reckon he's off to play in France somewhere though, probably Paris Saint German. Wenger also said a few things about transfers which gave me a little more confidence in his intentions this summer:

If you divide the season into two – going forward we have done very well but defensively we have been average. I want to rectify that.
My transfer policy this summer will be to keep our strengths going forward, add one player, and add more defensive strength.

Sounds good to me. :)

There is a lot of hype about Fabregas leaving this summer. I don't think it will be a terribly bad thing considering we should get Yaya and a load of cash. I can see a Eduardo, Rosicky or Ashavin, Almunia or Fabianski and Gallas leaving. Should leave us with over £60million to play with to get 1 good keeper, 2 centre backs and a replacement for Fabregas (Arteta is being lined up in the papers).

Plus we have Chamaka, hopefully an injury free RvP season and maybe Vela will hit some form with Mexico in the summer.

Gallas looks like he's gone unfortunately. Arsenal keep losing big players this way, Gallas was the best defender and one of the best players in the team this season, another massive loss.

On a brighter note, some rumours around saying that Bob Wilson believes that there will be a new number one 'keeper coming this season, an experienced and world class one. Buffon :D? (I realise he has become this summers dream signing which will never happen)

Also, Y. Toure's agent said he's leaving Barca this summer and Arsenal is a likely destination, from the early sounds it looks like Wenger has got exactly the right ideas. Toure - Song - Fabregas in midfield would be excellent.

a lot of stuff flying around but as usual the papers taking it all out of context...i dont think Fab will leave us this season...maybe next season as we just gave him £3mill and bumped his wages up to £110k a week.

Id be happy to see Edu, Almunia, Fabianski, Diaby and Vela leave us this season. Rosicky and Arshavin i dont think will leave us....maybe Rosicky but not Arshavin...plus Gallas is more or less gone unless he gives in....which i cant see happening.

Yaya Toure has been linked to us several summers now. Before when he was higher up Barca's pecking order he was giving us the finger when we pursued but now his agent is apparently trying to sort something out, now that Busquets and Keita are preferred over him. Good player no doubt but I don't want us to pay over the odds for him when we have Sideshow Song. :p

I have 100% confidence that Fabregas is going nowhere this summer, Barcelona don't need him at the moment with the midfielders that they've got and he has said to us over and over again that he has no intentions to leave us for Barcelona. I know that there'll be a stage in his career when he goes, but this summer is not the right time for him I don't think.
