People do let their imaginations run wild, no matter how crap Diaby has been all season, he's stayed in the team, truly pathetically embarassing performance against Barca in the first leg, does he get dropped, no, not once.

Can you see Wenger, who quite clearly thinks Diaby is one of the best players in the squad, going out and buying someone for a good chunk of cash, on 2-3 times the wages, well, he's never done that before, but believe whatever you want.

AS for Gallas, its getting a little embarassing that Gallas, on 80k a week, paid FAR less than every other major centre back in the league(Utd/Chelsea), at his peak still, playing fantastically, wants the SAME wage for more than a year and its extravagant, don't know what our club is playing at.

Anywhere else, any other club, him on 80k a week, one of the top 3 players at the club, one of the best in his position in the world, every single other club would lock him into a 4-5 year contract and give him a pay rise. We want to get shot of him and do so by offering 60k a week and 2 years.

Diomenche is gone after the world cup(maybe before),so I really can't see what him being desparate to play has to do with his transfer anywhere, as Diomenche was only talking about him proving his fitness now to be included in the 23 man final squad, considering he hasn't played for ages. Thats simply got nothing to do with, well, anything.

As for where he will go, its almost certainly not France. He'll get a crapload more cash in Italy or Spain and theres a whole host of clubs interested in him. Apparently talks with Roma/Ranieri have already happened, and if you recall Ranieri loves the guy, took him to Chelsea, Gallas loves Ranieri and knows he's not got a complex about playing someone over 30 being bad for some reason.

My guess would be on Roma, but Real are in desparate need of CB's, though if Mourinho ends up there, hmm, not sure that would happen. Actually I can't remember, was it Mourinho who claimed Gallas had threatened to score own goals if he wasn't allowed to leave, or was that Kenyon(or whoever it was at that point), one claimed it, the other rubbished it. Gallas wasn't happy with Mourinho playing him on the left though for so long.

Yaya Toure is a good player, wouldn't mind him at United but I think we will see how Hargreaves progresses before recruiting anyone else in that position.

After the rumoured exit before the game against stoke Im not hopeful (I REALLY dont believe the "illlness" story at all)

I would love OH to make it back to playing in the 1st team again, just dont think its likely :(

So Berba says he's going to fight for his place at Man Utd

Link

As a Man Utd fan I have to say im disappointed, im hoping he goes.

if he fights anywhere near as hard as he did to win the premiership, he could be gone as of tomorrow.

there is NO fight in berbatov.

its a shame cos i really liked him, he seemed to score some blockbusters at tottenham etc but not so much at utd.

i dont feel sorry for him the way he treated us near the end, no sportsman should act like that.

what comes around goes around

thanks for the 30 mil ;)

Gallas will be 33 in August, a year's contract will basically take him to 34. Arsenal are a very well run club in terms of their finances so to criticise an aspect that they've got very right is a bit silly.

It's Drunkenmaster, criticising Arsenal is what he does.

Stats would indicate he scored 12 this year and 6 assists in around 2000minutes on the pitch, 12 last year with 11 assists 2700 minutes on the pitch, 15 goals and 11 assists in his best year at Spurs the year before in 2900 minutes, and 9 goals and 10 assists the year before that in 2500 minutes.

So, you bought a guy that in his best season scored 15 goals in almost 3000 minutes on the pitch, and he scored/assisted a similar level in his first season that you won a title in, and this year, you didn't in a title but he had a FAR higher goals/minutes ratio, infact his best ever goals tally for minutes on the pitch.

He just played FAR less this year. He also played less, often not in his best position, in a system that doesn't work fantastically for him, and yet, it was his most prolific year in the premier league.

Utd fans were just looking for a scapegoat when its not working, picking a guy having his best year in the premier league and deciding he's a flop because he hasn't produced the same form as what you paid for, is laughable. He's EXACTLY the player you bought from Spurs, he scored more goals/game played than ever before.

If he'd stayed at Spurs and produced the same goals/minutes, people wouldn't have noticed a difference. FOr some reason because you spent a whole 30million people seemed to expect him to score 30 goals a season and have decided he sucks because he didn't, its actually laughable. Considering he's been more effective for every minute on the pitch this season than ever before, and considering the fans have been criticising him hugely for 2 years, thats even more impressive, as is the fact his family has been threatened and people almost kidnapped and has had to deal with that all year aswell its even more impressive. Toughest year off the pitch, both in threats to his family, criticising from fans/pundits, and yet, its his best year on the pitch.

Yet we've paid Silvestre almost as much as Gallas, on a two year contract no less while over 30, not including transfer fee and signing on bonus, for a player who rides the bench?

Yet paying Gallas THE SAME AS HE'S ON NOW, for 2 years, when he's shown no drop in form, when CB's are often their best at 30+, when the way he's playing this season suggests he's got several years left.

How will the finances be better, to lose Gallas because we won't CONTINUE TO PAY HIM THE SAME MONEY, when he's one of the best players in the team, and pay 10mil for another Vermaelen on 40-50k a week?

It will COST LESS TO KEEP HIM, and cost more to buy someone new in, who most likely won't be as good.

We're throwing money down the drain on Eduardo, Theo, Diaby, Denilson, players who shouldn't be at the club or should be being played. We've got 5 strikers, yet play 1, a 2nd if everyones injured and we're getting another guy in on 50k a week to, ride the bench. So we can afford to keep one more striker on the bench for 50k a week more, but we can't afford to keep paying Gallas the same money he's currently getting?

Utter rubbish, Arsenal could be wasting a lot less cash and getting a lot more for their money.

Why are Arsenals finances great? We charge double what most teams in the premiership charge for tickets, and we have by FAR the largest stadium in London, we both charge more than Chelsea and have not far off double the capacity. We have a lower capacity than Utd, but charge more for each ticket, we have far higher capacity than Liverpool and charge way more per ticket.

Our finances are good, because we make money hand over fist, not because of our absolutely stupid over 30's policy. Its NOTHING more than Wenger wanting to win the title with a young cheap squad so he can say "look how I won it, we're better than you , ha ha" .

Again, Gallas wants the SAME money he's on, to do the SAME job he's doing, he's far more than capable of producing the same quality for 2 more years. Giggs is making more than Gallas, playing a lot less, is no where near as good(currently) and is far older.

Age should have nothing to do with it, theres entirely no reason AT ALL to believe he can't play for 3-4 more years, and no reason on earth he should take a paycut to do the SAME job he's doing now.

Theo's barely played, he's on an embarassing 60k a week, we're asking Gallas to play more, be more important, be much better but take a pay cut to match Theo's contract, I'd be god damned irate.

Even worse is calling his wage demands extravagant, not taking a paycut to do the same job he's doing, seriously..... extravagant?

Hang on, the other day you were saying that Eduardo was a good player?

He's not got that long left in him DM.

Believe it or not, Mr Wanger knows what he's doing.

yes but at Man Utd he gets many more guilt edged chances.

you cant just compare pre and post man utd stats. at the end of the day when you spend 30 millions on someone you probably expect a bigger return than he has provided.

but its the chances he has missed and his body language when on the pitch that is the real issue.

expectations change when you make a big money move - if you dont perform - or worse underperform people will judge you buy the transfer fee and how you have done...

he did pretty badly overall imo. and its a shame...

and yet, its his best year on the pitch.

no....

According to DM Wenger is clueless and DM could do a better job of managing Arsenal...the team DM would play would be Eboue only...seeing as he has some sort of hard on for him:p:D

A few blogs have gone a bit mental over it for some reason but it's not anything to worry about.

Cesc has never said he wouldn't one day want to return to Barca. It's his home town, he grew up with Xavi, Messi, Pique and Iniesta, and when one day he hasn't the legs for the EPL he'll return.

He'd be stupid to want the move now - he wouldn't get into their team. The only way it'd happen is if we get a Kaka sized amount of money for him, or a heck of a lot money and e.g. Toure.
