the great thing is my brother (who is a glory-supporting, roots-abandoning, prawn-sandwich-aspiring, little toerag of a United fan who has never set a foot north of the M4) really rated Anderson when Man U signed him, and is furiously refusing to back down and accept he was wrong :D good for my own personal lols
Theres always one in the family...
i really hope that we make a bid for Ozil unless we have already been turned down by his agent as he wants to go Utd or Chelsea but i reckon he will do well in the prem...

Bearing in mind that Ozil has only got 1 year left on his contract (usually cuts the transfer fee right down), and thus not worth more than £15mil tops, what would Anderson be adding to the value of that deal!? £12 mil plus 50p? :D

There was a time when many United fans were insisting that he was better than Fabregas (based mainly on the fact he was quite good at tackling Fabregas in one or two games) and just didn't quite grasp that the destroyer role is much, much easier than the creating role

Lol yeah, 'better than Fabregas' was the exact quote. Reeks of hubris now.... much to my mirth.

You already signed David Silva greedy guts!
If you get Ozil too what will you do with Adam Johnson!? Stick him in a mascot suit?

he is good though. i still rate him now.

thats not about being a UTD fanboy otherwise id say that carrick was good and that hargreaves was a good buy.

Where would you fit Tevez and Mancini's beloved 829 defensive midfielders then!? :D
I would play a 4-2-2-1-1....
Tevez
----Ozil-----
Silva-----Johnson
De Jong---Toure
Kolarov-Kompany-Lescott-Boateng
Or if we didnt sign Ozil and sign Balotelli put Balotelli where Ozil is or if we sign both then i dunno lol

Anderson always looked like he could be a really good player. His vision and ideas were great. He just couldnt quite follow through on that ambition. What would have been a beautiful pass over 40 yards would go just wide. His shooting is god awful as well.

Still think that fergie should go for Ozil, this will be the last chance I would imagine before someone else snaps him up.

Its weird because he could stay at his current club but then they wont get a penny next year. If he was worth that much to them over the season then fair enough, but I doubt he is.

Diarra would be a fantastic signing for Utd, I'd like him back at Arsenal.

Not sure if he's a troublesome player, or just had a bit of bad luck with team choice. He couldn't get in ahead of Essien, understandably, went to Arsenal, should definately have played, left for first team footie, again understandable, went to Real and played a lot till more recently. Does Mourinho hold a grudge for him leaving, or is he a git and the team's got fed up with him?

He'd be a very good addition to either team, both need a quality, capable DM who can pass, track runs into the box and pick out the right passes to get the team counter attacking quickly.

No idea if the guy whose linked himself with a move to Arsenal is any good, Arsenal tend to be fairly good at telling players they are in negotiations with to keep quiet so doesn't sound too realistic.

Ozil is decent, with a lot of potential, Anderson is just crap, he's a ball hog, the only time he looks close to effective is on the ball, he'll get it and try and run through the defence, the problem is for 2 years you've seen him do this and the entire team throw their arms up in frustration when he refuses to pass, gets caught, and everyone has to kill themselves getting back to break up a counter.

He can't pass very well, he can't shoot, he can't tackle very well, conceded fouls with late tackles and generally being a petulant little ****. Ozil is a big step up in quality, and if Utd did get someone like Diarra to shore up the DM position then you have Ozil who can play through the middle or on the wings, who can replace Giggs/Scholes in the next year or two.

Getting a little fed up of Wengers insistance on waiting till about 17 seconds before a window shuts to try and get a great deal out of desparate to sell clubs, its not worked more often than its worked.

If we signed the 2-3 people we needed a month ago, they'd be fit, ready and intergrated into the team for the start of the season which especially as we likely have a few missing for the start of the season and a very tough start to the season, would be massively useful. By waiting, and waiting, and waiting, we could have dropped the points before the end of the window that otherwise could have won us a title come May.

I really don't know why teams spend so long dragging things out looking for bargains. Saving half a mil, but dropping a couple points in August just isn't worth it.

Skimmed your usualy BS about Diarra but in what way can you possibly say this is a very tough start to the season:

Liverpool v Arsenal
Arsenal v Blackpool
Blackburn Rovers v Arsenal
Arsenal v Bolton Wanderers
Sunderland v Arsenal
Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion

First game is very tough, and I won't be taking 3pts for granted against Blackburn, Sunderland or Bolton, but yeah it could be much worse.

I really really really hope we do get some signings made quickly though, regardless of how the fixtures lie. A defender looks likely but we could ideally do with 2 of them and a goalie. I think he'll just sign one defender, and more overly-conservative muddling by with the players we have...

Its nothing new to him, he has never won anything in his club career, so liverpool not winning anything and being prepared to pay him £100,000+ a week to sit on the bench for half a season every time he breaks a nail for the next 4 years probably suits him down to the ground.;)
Or just maybe he possesses something rare in football these days, loyalty and faith. Things were bad last season, but I’m sure he’s been given credible reassurance it will be different this year. He's not short of clubs that would have him sitting on the bench for £100k a week so why else would he stay?

On the other hand he could have thrown his toys out the pram like a certain portages player did last summer, moved to another "top" European club and win... oh yeah, sweat fa.
