From the West Ham Utd website:

"With the ink barely dry on Ben Haim's contract, club officials stepped up their bid to secure a fifth signing this close-season and hope to have the deal finalised within the next 72 hours.

"The potential recruit is a young international who represented his country with distinction at the 2010 World Cup."

Hmmmmm wonder who that will be!!

Manchester City are ready to snap up £34m-rated Barcelona midfielder Gai Assulin for nothing after the Israeli teenager cancelled his contract with the Catalan club.
Full story: Daily Mirror

That's enough transfer BS, sorry I meant news, for one day!! A teenage nobody that hasn't played a competitive game for a club is 'rated' as a £34m player! Who writes this ****!?

We needed it. We need to not have Andy Hughes playing.

We're not gonna get a Sharp/Hooper, etc.

We need midfielders, or strikers more importantly. We still have Sheehan and Michalik on our books. We've got about 6 players who can play CB now though but only about 3 centre mids after we never replaced Doyle and at the moment one centre forward. Not good.

Becchio or Paynter will be CF.

Snodgrass, Gradel, Sam, Watt, maybe even Johnson or Robinson will be LW/RW.

Kilkenny, Johnson, Howson, Bruce, Fuseini (if kept) at CM.

Don't see a huge issue

Surprised Michalik and Sheehan weren't released with Kandol.

Still have Grella, Hughes, Elliot and some of the defenders could push further up. The first team isn't my worry though, the squad is

FYI - Mikel isnt exactly a prolific scorer - he is nearly as bad as Anderson :) according to the BBC Mikel has scored 2 FA Cup goals in his Chelsea career to date in 165 apps (35 as sub). Slight discredit to Anderson as he seems to only have played about 2/3 of that amount with same amount of subs approx (very surprised Mikel has been at Chelsea that long so appologies if that figure is wrong)

I wasn't suggesting Mikel is a prolific goalscorer, it was more a general response to the (possible) slight on the effectiveness of Chelsea's midfield. I was merely pointing out that a couple of their players were unavailable, and given that they are probably the two best defensive midfielders at the club, it forced the likes of Ballack to adopt a much deeper role than he would normally occupy (perhaps contributing to the poor goal return that was highlighted).

I would play a 4-2-2-1-1....
Tevez
----Ozil-----
Silva-----Johnson
De Jong---Toure
Kolarov-Kompany-Lescott-Boateng
Or if we didnt sign Ozil and sign Balotelli put Balotelli where Ozil is or if we sign both then i dunno lol

Ozil isn't going to City end of well atleast not this year, no champions league, possibly next season we'll see.

He would be great for Utd though.

Apparently an Indian (rich) bloke is after Blackburn. I'm starting to wish a Chelsea/Man City take over at Arsenal. Wenger's done very well in continually running through high enough for the Champion's League but it's really getting harder and harder. Both Merseyside teams should be up there this year as well.

Hatem Ben Arfa linked again to newcastle. sources in France said he close to signing for us? I know there is some truth in us trying to get him it's the only player Hughton has not denied going for when asked a few times about signing him

Would be a dream transfer for me.

loved our temperamental french wingers in the past Ginola/Robert

LOL at Ozil's latest tweet....

The road to success is to BELIEVE.

I don't. I'm proud that we are not wholly owned by a foreign shareholder. We are not struggling financially despite the move to the Emirates and we've even maintained our top flight credentials. You'd rather compromise all of that for a few million and an arguably stronger push for the title? Personally, no thanks.

No, I didn't say that blowing millions for the title is worth it at the moment (though of course you can't deny it'd be nice if we can sustain a challenge).

As said, qualifying each year for the Champion's League is absolutely vital for us. Luckily last year Liverpool and Everton tabled surprisingly worse compared to previous years and I don't see that happening again. There are only 4 spots available which 6 teams realistically compete for, and that's being harsh to both Everton and Villa who are usually up there.

I think Arsenal are good enough to get in the top 4 even if Liverpool and Everton have good seasons. If Arsenal drop below 4th it'll be due to a poor season on their behalf. I think the side is improving, slowly, so I'd expect them to be better this season than last and that should be good enough
