That wouldnt bother me so much as I'm not a fan of playing with one up front anyway. :)

Well I'm taking into account the system we're likely to play and if pre-season is anything to go by then Hodgson looks like sticking with the 4-2-3-1 formation that we've played under Rafa.

If Torres was injured, Crouch would slot into his place without too much difficulty, after all he played there under Rafa in the 05/06 season.

just bits and pieces but you can see he has skill, pace technique etc all great attributes. just what we need really!

TBH, I agree with what drunkenmaster said not too long ago. He had a couple of flashes of something special, but nothing magnificent. He was working well in a fantastically well gelled German side and yet managed to go missing completely at times. I think he'll be like Arshavin is for Arsenal. Undeniable talent, but it doesn't come out as often as it should.

So Spurs are going to sell Crouch who has only been with them for 1 season and Robbie Keane who has been red hot in pre-season so they can bring in who? Hunterlaar? Arry aint that stupid is he?

Defoe
Keane
Crouch
Pavlacantspellhisname

The above is a much better attacking line up than

Defoe
Pavlawhateverhisnameis
Hunterlaar
Mr No one

Cant see Crouch going anywhere tbh, Keane maybe although Arry would be a fool to sell him

The suggestion is that Redknapp has to sell before he can buy but is having difficutlies shipping out the players he doesn't want. Maybe he see's Crouch as being the most expendable of the players there is any interest in.

Who exactly were you hoping for us to sign? Given the situation we're in, a Crouch type signing is the best we could hope for imo.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think it's a bad signing as such. Im just not inspired by it. I was hoping we would actually spend some of this so call transfer account. But I guess it doesnt exist.

Hah!

I'm hearing that we're trying to involve Babel in a deal for Crouch.

Sweet *INSERT DEITY* don't let him anywhere near us!

Straight swap Babel for Crouch and Bentley :)

maybe your right he could be a luxury player to an extent, i.e on the fringes does well on occasions etc

like u say the german team do play well as a unit, podolski, klose etc all bad form in the season and then come together in the national team too..so who knows maybe a one tourny wonder or just better internationally too..

Of course it doesn't exist. Just looking at this summer alone we've already made a profit of £8m. With Masch and Insua to leave that's likely to be another ~£30m. £38m on Poulsen, Crouch and Konchesky (or similar)? I don't think so.

edit: Our need to boost our home grown quota will most probably have influenced any decision to go for him too.

Will be interesting to see how much you get for Masch. With Milner going for £18m plus Ireland. I think it's going to be a disappointing figure compared to what Liverpool fans would like. Especially with his determination to leave.

Which is why I was hoping for a bigger striker signing really, with in theory at least £20m available for one player.

Any figure for him will be disappointing, the guy is class. His determination to leave (and he's hardly refusing to play or anything) will make minimal difference. The fact that he's only got 2 years on his deal will be the reason why he'll be sold.

We know we have to sell him this season or end up taking a big hit on his value but I still can't see him going for less than £25m, and if Barca come back in for him now they've given up on Fabregas then it's possible he could go for a bit more too.

Why did you think that money would be all made available? It hasn't for the past 18 months when we've been in a far stronger position financially than we are now.

Apparently Fulham are in talks with Algerian centre-back Rafik Halliche, he looked good in the World Cup..but can't say we need another centre back.
