How much of Ozil had you seen before the WC?
That wouldnt bother me so much as I'm not a fan of playing with one up front anyway.![]()
How much of Ozil had you seen before the WC?
just bits and pieces but you can see he has skill, pace technique etc all great attributes. just what we need really!
Who exactly were you hoping for us to sign? Given the situation we're in, a Crouch type signing is the best we could hope for imo.
Hah!
I'm hearing that we're trying to involve Babel in a deal for Crouch.
Sweet *INSERT DEITY* don't let him anywhere near us!
TBH, I agree with what drunkenmaster said not too long ago. He had a couple of flashes of something special, but nothing magnificent. He was working well in a fantastically well gelled German side and yet managed to go missing completely at times. I think he'll be like Arshavin is for Arsenal. Undeniable talent, but it doesn't come out as often as it should.
Dont get me wrong, I dont think it's a bad signing as such. Im just not inspired by it. I was hoping we would actually spend some of this so call transfer account. But I guess it doesnt exist.
News Of The World said:"Peter was humble and kind. The Spanish players are arrogant divas who treat me like a whore." Said the whore.
Of course it doesn't exist. Just looking at this summer alone we've already made a profit of £8m. With Masch and Insua to leave that's likely to be another ~£30m. £38m on Poulsen, Crouch and Konchesky (or similar)? I don't think so.
edit: Our need to boost our home grown quota will most probably have influenced any decision to go for him too.
Will be interesting to see how much you get for Masch. With Milner going for £18m plus Ireland. I think it's going to be a disappointing figure compared to what Liverpool fans would like. Especially with his determination to leave.
Which is why I was hoping for a bigger striker signing really, with in theory at least £20m available for one player.
"Hoping". To some extent it was possible that Benitez no longer had the backing of the board and therefore no spending money.
