ill throw another name out there. Tosic.

For example, that french winger we have, he is terrible but we have stuck with him.. (obertan)... yet Tosic looks better but never got a chance.

then u have evans who doesnt look world class, yet stick by him, where you have Pique get rid asap and now is a champs league winner? world cup winner? Chris smalling?! Pique MUST be better than smalling?

Manucho never got much of a sniff 1 game...bellion played....24 times? Chadwick 25? Tosic 2?

its just odd.

You really dont have a clue do you?

Based on what did Tosic look better than Obertan?

As for Evans/Pique/Smalling

1- Pique wanted to leave
2- Smalling is in no way a replacement for a player who left 3 years ago so why do you continually try to compare the two?

Are you seriously complaining that Manucho never got a game? If you cant get your head around why certain players are given a chance more than others how about the plain and simple fact that Fergie sees the players every day in training and knows which ones are a better fit for actually playing on a Saturday

sending him on loan to zaragoza for a season didnt help engrain him into our squad neither:/

Yep sending Beckham on loan to Preston really hampered his development as well. Note to all managers never loan your players out for them to get experience, it's a sure fire way of ruining their future career with you

5 million iirc.

I thought we got double figures for him?

i was there for Obertans debut vs Wolves. he was simply awful.

That would have been bloody hard seeing as he made he debut away to Barnsley with his first OT game being against Blackburn

Wellbecks had too many chances and looked seriously bad as well. he will never be a utd player. but fergie persists with him for no reason.

Or maybe Fergie who see's him week in week out sees his potential. Welbeck's goal scoring alone has been very impressive in his few United games FYI and the likes of Sunderland wouldn't of wanted him on loan if he didn't have something about him

I thought they actually made profit on Tosic, the bulk of the figure thrown around was when they were signing the two players, Ljajic and Tosic iirc?

We did. Great bit of business for the club to get anything for him whatsoever he was so rubbish :p

Ozil, like i say i want to see us bid but i dont know what goes on behind closed doorys etc so its a difficult one to be overly critical. but if we didnt even sniff around him, then id be shocked.

Why should we bid and how do you know we haven't bid or if we have bid what the actual offer is. Is it £12m up front, £15m up front or a structured deal. More to the point what if we have contacted his agent with Werders permission and he said, he is only interested in joining Club A or Club B or would only come to us if we offered him X Financial package that we were unwilling to meet. So yes I guess your right, you don't know what goes on behind closed doors as is all too apparent with a lot of the tripe you post about Utd.

Well done you, have a cookie for judging a player on his debut

Nickg said:
Tosic? well its not like he was 6.5' 220lb when we signed him and then he suddenly shrank when he played for us. but yet fergie knew this and still spent the money and gave him exactly 2 sub appearances, one for 13 mins another one for similar.. then its sweet goodbye to however many million we spent?!

Do you really think that Fergie judges the potential break through players solely based on how they play in the first team. Its the whole package, his fitness, development, attitude and application. If some of the crap you spout about how bad, poor and average our midfield has been then surely he would have just walked into the team. Hmmm the two subs appearances he made suggest the contrary.

If you watch the reserves hows Brandy doing? instead of splashing the cash on Diuff (a nobody IMO who will never play for us seriously) why not try these younglings. Wellbecks had too many chances and looked seriously bad as well. he will never be a utd player. but fergie persists with him for no reason.

Keep up, Fabian Brandy released. Not good enough and did not develop enough. Wellbeck gone out on loan to Sunderland for development and game time at a higher level, again keep up. Mame Diouf not good enough in your opinion based on what, do you know what his game is about, do you even know if he is left footed or right footed. I guess opinions are like arse holes though, everyone has got one.

More to the point you do know that players development is not linear. If he is good at 13 it doesn't always follow that development will be the same at 23. If you follow a players development for two years before you buy him he could suddenly stop physical, technical or psychological development or other players catch up making him relatively the worse player. So is it beyond the realms of possibility that players like Tosic, Brandy et al didn't develop like some of the players around them. And before you put that at the door of Utd or Fergie, that unfortunately is the reality of football development. And that is me speaking from experience.

If you want to continue with these misguided, ill informed, and in a lot of cases technically incorrect opinions you have then go right ahead. If not do some bloody research about the game, do some research about player development from an early age, do some reading on player development from adolescent to adult from a technical, physical, social and psychological perspective. The last point is what any Club would use from a youth Charter Standard upto full blown professional status.

EDIT

i dont know, giggs was good - obertan is limited severely in terms of his ability to contribute with woeful passing, crossing and shooting.

a youthful ryan giggs picked up the ball beat 2 men and scored a goal. and thats at 17/18.

Grrrrrrrrr No he didn't and again thanks for showing us how much you have watched of the Premiership Years. If you actually went to any of the matches when Giggs was 17/18 he couldn't cross for Toffee and quite often his decision making was poor. However with time and experience that got a lot better. A bit like Nani. Or a bit like Valencia who was all right foot last year yet scored with his left foot pre season, its called development, some players do it better than others. So if your suggesting that Obertan can't develop that side of his game, given he was injured when he joined us and is still only young.............................words fail me at the ammount of muppetry you talk at times

I done the same and most reports said £100k :p

Nobody knows for sure, all we can assume is that a £30m player is going to be on big money.

I did pluck 100k out of thin air though, educated guess I would say. Papers rarely get it right, and neither does the rumour mill, unless a manager/player specifically say then who knows. Even at 80k a week, again call it 4 year contract + 30mil / 208 weeks =46.64m total/208 = 224k a week if you class it as that. When you through in the transfer fee and do some creative addition, you can make almost any player who had a large transfer fee look like they are on insane money.

Do we actually have any verification Toure is on 212k a week, beyond him saying its a lot, because he could have mean 20mil + and 100k a week is a lot, I don't remember him being questioned directly on the amount he made a week, seriously who knows.

Mark Schwarzer's put in a transfer request, bit unprofessional on his part as they haven't bid since May, but hey-ho. Most likely see Stockdale in goal tomorrow then.

Great news for us at arsenal. A consistent keeper like him could do wonders for our title challenge!

Pointless, he will not be educated and sees everything in the negative.

I have lost count the amount of times I have had the same discussions with him over the years and it always ends up the same.

Sack Giggs, sell Fergie.

Nick is ok, he doesnt deserve half the stick he gets.

He is like you, misunderstood. ;)

I dont see why these things always have to decend into personal abuse and insults, its a game, it doesnt really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Harry Redknapp has bemoaned Manchester City's 'ridiculous' stance on Craig Bellamy after the Eastlands club blocked Spurs' transfer approach earlier this week.

Redknapp believes City are playing hardball over the future of the 31-year-old - especially since rejecting their initial enquiry outright.

"We tried to get him but they don't want to let him go, and if they don't want to let him go to Tottenham or anywhere else, that is up to them," he said.

The competition at Eastlands could see Bellamy excluded from City’s 25-man Premier League squad, but manager Roberto Mancini still seems reluctant to let the 31-year-old leave to a rival.

The Welshman was in top form last season, netting 10 league goals to endear himself to the City faithful.

However, the fiery forward has a hunger to play, and Redknapp stated: "If he is not in their squad they are not going to want him around.

"Be honest, you wouldn't want Craig Bellamy sitting around, coming into the dressing room every day when he is not happy."

If Bellamy is not selected in City's squad, the veteran would not play a competitive game until Christmas - a situation Redknapp refers to as ‘ridiculous’.

Although Bellamy and Mancini have never seen eye-to-eye, Redknapp believes to punish a player of his ability by leaving him in the reserves would be a mistake.

"He has got to play football. It looks almost certain he will go," the Spurs boss added.

Where the Cardiff boy will be plying his trade come September is anyone’s guess.

However, Bellamy can rest assured his credentials are admired by Redknapp - and a move could still be on the cards.

"He is an outstanding player and if he is available he would certainly be of interest to us," he added.

Good! Don't want him anywhere near us. Seems to cause trouble anywhere he goes.

Manchester City really confuse me with their transfer policy...they are happy to splash out, now have a massive squad and are still unwilling to sell their surplus players.

To be fair, they don't see Fulham as a direct rival and supposedly received an offer from Celtic before Spurs made an offer, so its not they are unwilling to let him go, they've told him he is going.

Unwilling to let go, and unwilling to go to the guys who pipped them to 4th and are probably their biggest rival for champs league footie this year, frankly I'd be surprised if Utd would sell their second best player last year to Chelsea, wouldn't you? Now Silvestre to Arsenal I can still hear Fergie laughing about it, but Vidic, to Chelsea, not a chance in hell.
