Baz, for someone that seemed completely sure H&G had literally no choice but to accept this buy out only 10 days ago, you're now saying its pointless freeing up one more foreign player spot because its completely unlikely you'd buy up to a massive 4 foreign players by the end of the window.
Firstly, have you seen his signing record at Fulham, after Sanchez he almost switched out the entire team, even without much money I can see Hodgeson looking around for loan deals and last minute bargains on uber cheap foreign players, even if its just to rest some of the better players throughout the season as its not a massive squad and you might find a couple gems amongst them. Secondly, if Liverpool do get bought, and have hundreds of millions to spend, you don't think they could get 4-5 players in before the window closes? Either way, it makes perfect sense because Hodgeson is a buying manager, even if its very cheap players he turns good.
Though, I find it odd that syke wasn't happy about Pantsil and Gera, Gera was always excellent at West Brom(IIRC), very strong and positive, and Pantsil had a pretty damn decent season with West Ham, neither were unknowns or lacking prem experience/quality.
Villa have done a fantastic deal and O'neill's a bit of a douche a la Keegan for running out for the reasons he did. Arsenal could be top of the league, won the champs league and Milner had the same season I'd happily cash in on him when the price is significantly over what he's worth, its just good business. Villa can go off, spend 18mil on a player actually worth 18mil and have two players both better than Milner........ why a manager would throw a hissy fit over improving the squad I don't know.
Bellamy showing what he is, a player who wants to play, and will play anywhere and wants a challenge more than riding the bench. I always say, he's mouthy and irksome, but I've never once seen a performance where I thought he was anything other than at 100% effort, is a very very good footballer and also seems like a nice honest guy off the pitch. He always comes across well in proper interviews and makes a point that if a player is 100% commited on the pitch and is aggressive in the way he plays, he'll pretty naturally get a bit wound up and mouthy on the pitch but he's rarely like that off the pitch, fair play.
