Doubt they'll accept that, especially as Hodgson just said he wants to use some sort of fundings. They paid more than that didn't they? They could easily get ~£20m.

Nothing from the press about Squillaci's medical today, apart from the fact he was taking one. Presumed it was ok. That's 3 central defenders we have. A fourth would be good but now clearly the hunt for a keeper has to take priority.

BBC News said:
Man City boss feels Balotelli can be better than Torres
I hate headlines like this. Of course Mancini is going to say this. What else is he going to say? "We couldn't get Torres, so got the next best option". Cheers, Roberto.

*Nothing against Mancini, more a rant about the occasional idiotic article on the BBC site.

blimey his goal scoring record over here makes Berbatov's look good. Obviously he was a great player but DM is right by saying he wasn't up there with the great goalscorers.

If you include assists I would say completely the opposite

I have to admit I thought DB was better for Arsenal (getting goals) than the stats above, but even so Im sure with assists incl its a lot nearer 1 a game

If berba ever gets to that ratio I will be amazed

I also dont think any top team in the world would "complain" about signing someone of DB's quality, even if they initally signed him as a scorer and he ended up being a playmaker / support striker instead

M.Diarra to Blackburn for a knockdown £6.5m (daily fail though so probably no truth in it - as Man Utd def wont be bidding)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...Mahamadou-Diarra-Manchester-Uniteds-nose.html

Think he would be a steal for that price, not sure if Blackburn could afford that though

hmm Maschrano for 12m is a bargain....if Liverpool have accepted that then wow but then again i guess 12m for a unhappy player isnt bad heck we have just given Ireland to Villa for nothing.

Bergkamp played a lot of games for Arsenal when was 30+(more than 1/2?) which doesn't help his stats.

Selling Yaya Toure for ~£30m and getting Mascherano £12 would similar to the Eto/Ibrah deal last year- i.e nuts.

Wont accept 12m for Masch, no chance. And i hear Masch is now sulking a bit :p

To be honest, i expect they offered only 12m because he has 2 years left on contract, they dont 'really' need him, and 12m will be all he costs next summer anyway.

-edit-
Reading between the lines - RH just confirmed Masch is sulking and wont play.

"I dont Know where Mascherano is, but for sure he isnt here with his team. And untill someone meets our price this is his team. I guess his head just wasnt right for tonight"

-edit-
The above was from ESPN mobile alerts, and is a lot more bitter then what RH actually said, but ill leave it up to remind everyone that ESPN are as bad as sky lol

Well I have heard it all now. Bergkamp wasnt considered one of the best strikers in the EPL  Let me guess...Eboue is considered to be though? :p

Great news on the CB. I hope the other news about the Dutch GK and CD also hold some ground. That would be a perfect end to the transfer market.

Bergkamp wasn't a good striker here because he wasn't a striker here.

We're going to negotiate for Ibrahimovic on Wednesday. He'll be happy, we'll be happy. Barcelona probably won't be and that would be the end of that. If it does go through, he'll probably be rubbish for us because that's just the way it goes. Or he'll get injured. Years after we really want someone but can't get them, we do end up buying them. Its all about having them at some point in their career (Zambrotta and Beckham mostly) - to prove we can get whoever we want....even if its only when they're past it and nobody else really wants them.

Gotta love how the "board" (Galliani...can't say Berlusconi as he shows **** all interest) only just realise with a week to go of the transfer window that we need an all-round striker. Just like we did 12 months ago when we would only offer €22m for Dzeko and should have pushed to the €26-27m Wolfsburg were willing to accept. Idiots. Don't get Dida, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Zambrotta and Oddo on stupid wages in the first place and you'll have more bloody money!

I like the talk of walcott on the radio today as he suddenly goes from a complete waste of space to being a world beater on the basis of a hat trick against the possibly the worse side to play in the Premier league.

Anyone remember David Bentley getting a hat trick against united back in............2005? people were saying it was amazing and what a great performance from a great young player.

When what was actually the case was United pressed the self destruct button big time and were pathetic all over the pitch, I said after the match that was the case and David Bentley would never score 3 goals in a season again let alone 3 in one game, it was an exaggeration but I think the point and the comparison I am trying to make holds true.

I dont think scoring three against Blackpool suddenly means he has gone from being a waste of a team space to being Englands answer to Messi.

Depends on 'your' definition of a striker. He certainly wasnt a midfielder.

We will have him at Arsenal for £14m ;)

Second striker, forward, playing in the hole, trequartista, creative forward; take you pick of what term you want to use. :p
