Barcelona are truly ridiculous, about 3/4 of the world seems to agree Ibra is vastly over rated and rather than sell Eto'o at an appropriate time for probably 30-50mil euros, they added him into a ludicrously expensive deal for Ibra, was it around 60mil euro's + Eto'o?

They are what, 150mil in debt or there abouts, and had they not bought Ibra, sold Eto'o for 50mil, thats over two thirds of their debt that simply would not exist. In the end they are going to lose even more money selling him for a lot less than they bought him for, have a 30mil euro replacement whose FAR better and most importantly fits the team style better.

Its easily the worst deal ever in world football, and if you add Eto'o's value to Ibra's, he cost significantly more than Ronaldo did, who has been absolutely outstanding since his move.

Essentially they will have ended up paying what, 70mil euro's or so for Ibra to have one year where he was largely unsuccessful before shipping him off. The deal frankly makes every deal City have done pretty damn good value, even Milner for a total of 26mil seems decent.

etoo was demanding wages of £10 million a year or maybe even £20 million i cant remember. so they wanted rid of him and he had very little contract left, so his value was next to nothing, so he didnt cost more than ronaldo, but he was over priced and the only striker they could buy at the time.

read that, then you will realise, barcelona had to get rid off him before he went for free.

Hence, IF THEY SOLD HIM AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME. He had seemingly wanted out for 3 years and they could have sold him any other time, if you look at his scoring record, only Messi this year and maybe the year before matches it, he simply didn't ask for 20mil a year, 400k a week, nope. 10mil a year is probably a stretch and supposedly not massively far off what Ibra is on already.

You're talking about a guy who would play 30 games a year and score 28-30 goals a year in the league alone, he was OUTSTANDING for them, his scoring record was unmatched in the league over something like 7-8 years. There is no striker in the world who gets that close to a 1 goal a game ratio that consistantly.

They could have tied him to a longer contract a while before, or they could have sold him when they had more time on his contract.

Ozil, unproven, went for 12-14mil with a year left on his contract, De Jong went for 18mil 6 months before a buy out clause would mean half the clubs in Europe would be offering 6mil to get him. Eto'o, that good a striker even on his last year could have gotten 20mil easy. IF they'd done anything remotely smart, tie him to a contract a year or two before, sell him a year or two before, they'd have got 50mil + for him, its really that simple.

Same was Arsenal could have tied Flamini to a very cheap 25k a week contract a year or two earlier and gotten 10-15mil for him, it was just bad business.

Even last summer, better business would be to give him a 200k a week contract, and sell him the next season for 30-40mil, still makes you an extra 30mil, no two ways about it, it was awful business and flat out stupid.

Bill Kenwright said on SSN that Pienaar had been offered a final contract that is a 'wonderful offer' and there will be no further offers by them.

And he thinks we can get 4th.

**** off you fat lying ****. If Pienaar wanted to stay then he would have signed a 5 year contract not 3 to start off with. If it was so ****ing wonderful then he would have signed it when he was offered it.

What a joke.

ozil was bought by real madrid, de jong by manchester city, both teams known for insanely overspending on players.

barca wouldnt sell to real madrid, leaving only 1 other team in the world who would spend that much on him, city and he wouldnt want to go there, if they sold him before hand, they wouldnt of been so successful, they offered him a contract and he wanted £200K a week not £100K. so they told him where to go.

if they did offer him £200K a week then tried to sell him for £30-40 million, how many teams could afford that?

2 - city and real. they wouldnt sell to real so it would have to be city and he wouldnt want to play for them.

they did what they could, etoo was also demanding 50% of any transfer fee, so even if they sold him with 1 year on his contract for £10 million the club would only get £5 million. there was no way barcelona could have made anything more than £5 million off him.

they should have let him play out his final year and let him go for free, they would have won the champions league, bought villa when etoo left. they should never of bought ibro.

The departure of Eto'o from Barcelona was down to his being ungrateful and the fact he wouldn't keep his mouth shut. They grew to dislike his mannerisms and as such, did not wish to keep such a distraction in the dressing room.

It has been revealed that Guardiola has issues with Ibrahimovic but he won't speak of them unless the latter leaves the club. Dressing room problems is the rumour which is why Guardiola simply wants to wash his hands of him.

Barcelona don't tolerate problems in the dressing room and they have a history of selling/releasing big name players at the right time. Unfortunately, those players always go to Milan to prove the decision was right - we've had Rivaldo and Zambrotta, now we probably get Ibrahimovic.

The only saving grace is that Luciano Moggi - and think of him what you will - says he would have signed Ibrahimovic and the one thing you cannot deny is that Moggi not only knows his football but makes few errors. The scandal aside, virtually everything he has said when commenting on teams, players and tactics in Serie A has been proven highly accurate. At least, until now...we'll see how Ibrahimovic does at Milan if he joins.

For the record, Ibrahimovic cost €40m plus Eto'o - a crazy transfer in anyone's eyes. That Ibrahimovic failed to perform for Inter Milan in European competition was the simplest of reasons as to why he couldn't be worth €40m more than Eto'o, let alone all the other common sense reasons but that's all in the past now.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi wants Liverpool to be humane and let fellow Argentine Javier Mascherano leave Anfield for the Nou Camp.
Daily Mirror

First Fabregas and now Mascherano. Seems that Barca want everyone on the cheap and then when they dont sell they start crying.

I dont see them letting their players go on the cheap when they want to leave.

Also looks like we are missing out on the Dutch goalie as Ajax made it into the CL. Real shame. Looks like we are going to have to settle for an old goalie for a season or two before the search begins again. :(

IF the offer is true - I dont see £20m for Mascherano as "on the cheap", personally think its a reasonable deal for both sides (its probably only worse for Liverpool because it looks like they wont get all/any of the transfer funds to reinvest in the team)

From the bbc website at 6 am
Liverpool have agreed a transfer fee with Barcelona for Javier Mascherano, who asked to leave Anfield last month.

"The Spanish club have now been given permission to speak to the Argentina midfielder," said the club website.

The Reds were keen to recoup the £18m they paid three and-a-half years ago, after Mascherano joined from West Ham.

Mascherano missed Thursday's trip to Trabzonspor, where Liverpool secured a place in the group stages of the Europa League with a 3-1 aggregate win.

More to follow.
Guess we'll find out more later

16million according to sky sports news, with an extra 6 based on appearences and success...

Liverpool robbed i reckon. worth more than that on the current market considering he's genuinely regarded as the best Destroyer around.

gotta laugh though, Liverpool in turmoil :D

how on earth you kept hold of Torres i have no clue.

nowhere near a top 4 team thanks to your god awful owners and quite frankly your belief in a manager who refused to admit he was getting it wrong.

i smell a Freefall to the championship like good old Leeds :)

Our recouped cash pot now stands at about £41m over the last 2 seasons, increasing by another £13m when Aqua is sold after this years lone, and the manager wont see a penny.

-edit-

Afaik the sale ended up being £18m + 6 mill addons (£1m per 20 appearances (One season only), £1m for winning the league, £2m for winning the CL) or that is what my sources tell me anyway.

From Xabi, Masch, Gerrard to Lucas and Poulsen :( the yanks have bled us dry.
One day, if i become loaded! (:p) I swear to god im going over to America, buying their top sporting franchise and stripping it of everything, before selling it to a local tramp for a dime.

-edit 2-

Sky Italia say we have made enquiries about Gokhan Inler. Better then i thought we might go for but still average compared to what a club like LFC should be aiming for. Honestly, how can anyone mess up the running of a club so bad? Stupid loan payments aside we make over 40m profit, each year, and it can only go up. An idiot should be able to run this club! :( Shame that greed is worse then idiocy.

The Ibrahimovic transfer fee just got a hell of a lot more worrying. €40m plus Thiago Silva or Pirlo (I'd offer Pirlo and run) or €20m and Pato. Thiago Silva and Pato cannot be allowed to leave the club. Pato is rather injury prone but we've got time before we need to sell him as a cripple.

As much as I'd like to see the back of Pirlo, €40m plus him is too much. Dzeko is clearly the superior option now but we're too stupid to try and arrange a deal for €30-35m.

Liverpool fan in stating add-ons to make the transfer seem more acceptable shocker

You think thats making it more acceptable? Lol.
Anything short of 30 million. Upfront. and we've been shafted.

yur completely dreaming if you think he is that good!!!

(actually given the state of Liverpool's finances and how desperately he wants to leave, to actually get £30m the player would actually have to be worth a lot more)

If the board are ****, it doesn't matter which manager you have in charge.

Alonso - Masch to Poulson - Lucas is like a bad joke. Expect us to challenge for top half this season.

Almost as shocking as you having nothing useful to say.

He's not dreaming Frank, you just don't have a clue what you're talking about :)

The only reason Masch is allowed to leave for anything like ~£24m (if that's what he's sold for) is because if he doesn't leave now then his value would halve next summer. He's considerably better than a couple of other midfielders that were sold this summer for similar fees and imo better than Alonso who was sold for at least £6m more last summer too.

From our point of view there wasn't a lot we could do; only 1 serious bidder in the market and in reality we had to sell him this summer.
