Smith should have, Milner says he has.

Yes but when all the lids fans were going mental saying he was loyal through and through and claiming he was singing Munich songs in some dodgy working mens club just before he signed for us. Money talks and bull **** walks.

I couldn't give a hoot either way if he joined. Good player ?? Yes. Worth £20+m No. Lids Fan Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Jog on. Whatever.

Smith should never of left Man U, he was great.
He was ideal as a battering ram when required and should have been used far more intelligently than Ferguson did.
He seems to like trying forcing players to play out of position, strikers on the wing, wingers in midfield, strikers in midfield, lightweight attacking midfielders as anchor men.

He would have come in quite handy these past couple of seasons.

Yeah I heard that, he paid himself out of Inter to get back home in Brazil didn't he?

Would love to sign someone like Adriano, not sure if he'd suit Fulham or not, but wouldn't mind some sort of star player to throw in the mix.

They talked about him on the World Football phone in :)

He's basically just missing "home" if that makes sense, and he was turning to drink to help him cope or something like that, attitude stunk while he was in Italy.

Had a bad break up with his partner as well.

He's a bit mental anyway, but he's a good player when he's got his head right.

I've heard it all now

A striker who cant even force his way into that position for a team in the Championship but is good enough for a team aspiring to win the Champions League

Like I said I've heard it all now

atpbx to replace Fergie as manager?! :p

He's not young in footballing terms, he is 26, and his goal scoring record isnt impressive.
His league form is particularly bland, his best total being a whole 13 goals in 34 apps, his average is worse than a goal every 4 games in the league.

I cant see what he offers over Bender to be honest.

A better all round player by the looks of things...well from what i have seen...better first touch, better in the air and is pretty physical when he needs to be....hopefully with him, he will possibly spur Bender onto improving himself otherwise he will make him look rubbish in comparison.

But meh hes free so dont understand why people are moaning about him especially DM but then DM thinks he knows whats best:p.

Hell even if Chamakh is rubbish at least we havent paid a penny out for him so its no big loss really.

Chamakh is a better buy then Herny imo.

Henry is past it and a waste of wages.

Chamakh is younger, and should hopefully do well for the team.

If not, it's not like he's a 30 million pound flop.

Exactly...i dont think Wenger is going to worry too much if Chamakh is a spectacular flop as he hasnt paid a penny for him...i mean hes costing us £50k a week in wages from what i have read about the signing but im certain that if Arsenal couldnt afford those wages, he would be on something less or maybe not have signed for us.

I expect DM to come in anytime soon and try and prove that Chamakh has cost us money but nowhere have i read that we have paid Bordeaux or if there has been a signing on fee etc.

No worries though, because if we believe you, United are probably even worse off! :p

Well i dont know what sort of financial position Utd are in but from what i have read and again dont know if they hold any water etc....but hte £80mill made from Ronaldo last yr has been used to pay off some debts but then a further £76mill has been added on because of the interest on outstanding loans against Utd.

But then earlier this week on SSN, Utd financial officer, cant remember his name went as far to say that Utd are in a good financial position...so who really knows...

Dont take my word as gospel because its only what i read last week in the papers and online.

I wonder how much you paid him as a signing on fee, bosmans usually have a good £1m or so depending on the player. Either way it's arguably good business, strengthens the squad for little outlay, I wonder if Arsenal will go back to 2 up front now?

I think Wenger is happy with 1 upfront. But that might change, depending on who else comes in/goes out.

Never really know what Wenger is thinking, apart from when he didn't see "it". :p

I imagine they'll stick to 4-3-3. Chamakh could play the right hand forward role or rotate between there and centrally with RvP, then Arshavin on the left.

I saw a video of Wenger saying there will definitely be a couple more signings in the defensive unit of the squad. I highly doubt another attacking player will arrive unless maybe Cesc gets sold.

Well i dont know what sort of financial position Utd are in

this from David Bond, the Beeb's excellent sports editor:

"On Friday, 28 May, United will publish their latest quarterly results.

It is widely anticipated these figures will show United's £122m cash reserves (according to the most recent report from United covering the period from October to December 2009) being reduced to help pay off around £70m of the Glazer's PIK loans - the interest rate for which will increase to 16.25% in August.

If that happens, then that will raise fears among supporters - and United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already been dampening expectations here - that there will be no money to strengthen a team which only won the Carling Cup last season."

So only ~£50m in cash reserves, and I doubt Fergie will spend all of that...
Basically if they are going to spend big this summer (I mean even get close to what City, Chelsea or the big 2 in Spain will spend) they will have to do so using borrowed funds from somewhere, which will only add to their precarious financial situation...

edit... of course, they could post something unexpected on Friday!

edit 2: I imagine we did pay a fair signing on fee for Chamakh I'd say £2-4mil. It's quite usual to pay substantial fees when the club doesn't have to negotiate with the player's existing club, simply because the player can talk to whoever he pleases and has all the power. I did hear that we offered a bit less than the other British clubs who were interested, Liverpool & Spurs. But he chose us, because we've been interested for ages, and well, we're better :D
