Man you dont run prime to test 32mb stability. You dont need all those volts either. Use mem test to test Dimm stability looping test 2 and 5. Once thats stable push your overclock up. More volts is often not the answer to 32mb stability.

So you reckon between 1.46 - 1.504 is a more suitable level of voltage for ivybridge running @ 5.0Ghz and then increasing PLL to around 1.875 for extra stability? I kept getting the feeling that the extra core voltage was causing me instability in windows. I tried everything to try pull 5.3Ghz.

I was running prime for heat testing but it's far far too hot. Are there any programs for testing a realistic amount of load on the system like when I run furmark I run it at 256 x 256 w/ 8x MSAA this usually simulates the card at maximum usage without over doing it.

Just done 5.3GHz, stole the top spot by 2 seconds nearly! ... updating table and screen shots now, sorry horrorxpunk & wazza ;)

8 Pack, shooo, get out this thread. Hehehe :P

I got too be 3rd place for... about an hour
and got to be second place for about an hour haha.
A lot more work is going to have to be done when I get home tomorrow.

Final runs...

Thats it from me guys, I don't think I'll push any further than this! Horrorxpunk, don't push too far but by all means go for it mate!

My computer was not a happy bunny when I tried breaking the 1.728 volts area. A few hours ago the BIOS is still recovering from some kind of system shock. I actually may have a problem... when I am booting and in BIOS it keeps freezing every second but it's stable in windows the system is absolutely fine and performing as normal. Thankfully this Maximus V Formula I grabbed for a bargain.

and I still have the 3rd highest score on the GTX680 in the Fire Strike leadersboard :P

I think everyone should be limited to one entry on the scoreboard, maybe? :P

Yeah I'm going no higher than that, I'm on air too... I'll leave it at that until I get my wc loop next month.

I think everyone should be limited to one entry on the scoreboard, maybe? :P

I thought about it, but it shows everyone's little fight to the top and how each others systems compare at the same speeds and the average times of each clock :)

I am rethinking my entire system overclock now; I have my basic 100% stable OC which is just @ 4.6 GHz because I don't think anything on my system needs more than that unless it's for benching and normally I just build on top of that. I think I am going to have to start from the beginning and take it very slowly monitoring each and every single change and taking massive notes. I think if you are getting that on air I should be able to push it further with my setup, I have a good wc kit but it's just the cpu block that mite be letting me down it's only a cheap one I got from a friend.

Happy enough at 4.5ghz here, temps get too high on this chip when pushed higher. Not gonna delid this one to go higher as it's a stop gap chip. Besides, im having enough "fun" tweaking ram.:D

Later in the year *cough* student loans *cough* I'm going to sell this board and get the MVE or UP7. I think I'll be going for the UP7 as I'd love to have a Gigabyte Orange WC build!

I was gonna go for the Z77 sabretooth, but read that it runs a bit toasty due to the "cladding" on it. Looked like a nicely spaced board for multi gpu.

i'd go for a gigabyte board if i had the choice again, should never have changed from gigabyte to msi then to asus.
