What is this liquid ultra/Pro I was looking at getting ice dragon nano.

Excellent pastes, (im using the ultra here), i suggest you watch the videos below the product descriptions mate. Very different stuff to apply compared to conventional pastes. But they will give much better results than anything else on the market. You do have to be pretty careful when applying them as they are electrically conductive, and avoid them coming into contact with aluminium parts as they will eat through it.
 
Its the best you can get basically, it's pretty much liquid metal and offers the best heat transfer you can have. I saw 10'c drop over AS5 and another 15'c off when I used it under the IHS, I expect another 5c when I go direct to die :)
 
Yup, exactly what it says on the tin. Quite strange stuff to work with tbh, reminds me a lot of mercury and how it behaves. I havent tried the pro, but apparently the ultra is supposed to be a bit easier to apply. With it, it's literally a tiny drop in the middle of the ihs and spread it out to the edges with the brush. Ill admit, even with using the tiniest amount i was still worried that it would seep out below the heatsink once my case was standing up.:o:o
 
It doesn't work very well on graphic cards though,I tried it on my 7970,temps were 75c,replaced it with mx4 and temps went down to 55c,I think its just too thin for gpu's
 
I wonder what theyre pads are like, i see they do ones in different sizes to suit cpu's, gpu's and consoles.

Never repasted a gpu yet, though may have to do the 8800gt in my other rig as it's idling at 60c. But i have redone chipsets on a few mobos. For theese i used as ceramique.
 
I like the idea that with direct die contact I can use the brush to create an ultra thin layer and not worry about it spilling over the side onto the PCB that could be bad.

If you do choose to get some Liquid Ultra/Pro, really use the tiniest amount - it will blow your mind how far you can stretch this stuff with a cotton bud. Don't use the brush supplied as I find it just attaches itself to the brush and is hard to spread.

I was thinking about using it on my 2 670s but I've read in numerous places it's not too good for them and the ******* dog ate my AS5. :rolleyes:

edit// I do have the Alpenfohn K2 TIM, reckon that'd be any good on GFX cards?

I doni't normally touch cards because the once i removed a non-stock cooler from stopped working after I had taken it apart lol, so haven't touched one since it was a 4850. Plus I have had 580 and 680 DIRECTCUII's since then and not really needed too.
 
Not that far off a 2700k @ 5GHz!!!! Amazing kitfit1.

Working now on finding that extra 9s or so to beat that 2700K ;)
By the way, it's under phase and not air cooled :D

Nice score kitfit, will have to see if i can get this cpu a bit higher.

Thanks setter.................first time i've done any benching in yonks............so still trying to re-learn what i have forgotten lol.
 
lol..........................i've been running phase since 2001. The one used for those clocks i built myself, so about £250 in parts and brazing rods.
