** Official Tekken 7 Thread **

Had a quick go and offline and I think it is a very good port from what I have seen.

Enjoyed the intro. Was a great feeling knowing you are about to play Tekken on PC :D

For me pretty much everything I have seen has met or exceeded my expectations except for maybe graphics. Not that the graphics are bad or anything, but for some reason I was expecting a bit better.

Loved playing with Akuma, played much better with him compared to a few others I tried. They managed to make him fit into the game very well.

Performance wise I can play Dead or Alive 5 and Mortal Kombat X maxed out perfectly fine with my current system at 4K, but Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 seem to perform about same where fps drops to about 40-45 range which is not playable. But no big deal as I like to play my fighting games on my big 50" Plasma TV which is 1080p and all games run rock solid 60fps maxed out on that.

Overall very pleased with what I have seen so far.

Street Fighter X Tekken is not reflective of the Tekken series. In fact, it's more akin to Street Fighter IV than anything else.

Tekken is arguably my favourite series in the genre, owing to it's history of brilliant cinematics and huge character roster. From what I've seen on Youtube, Tekken 7 is no exception to this trend!
SFxTK is nothing like SF4, don't insult SF4 like that. :p

SFxTK is actually very similar to Tekken due to it's accessibility, I think the hardest link in SFxTK was 4f, actually thinking about it, did it even have links!?

I'm objective enough to know that the PC version is the definitive copy of the game. I've just preloaded it on Steam!

People might argue that the multiplayer community is larger on the consoles, however most people don't use a mic or just troll anyway, so you're not missing much. ;)
At least on PC there's Discord and Teamspeak channels for socialising with like-minded players and arranging fights!
You cant say your objective then go on to say that the console player base is full of trolls.
The PC version is nice graphically, but you have to be beyond ignorant to not understand that the player base will be on ps4, its where the pros will be, its what all the tournaments will be on and in a months time you will still be able to play online , whereas the pc player base would have moved on.

its one of the reasons why a lot of people i know are double dipping with the game.

The game clearly uses a modified Street Fighter IV engine. I appreciate that there are some differences in the meta, but the gameplay is predominantly in the same vein as Street Fighter, not Tekken.

Evidently you glossed over the fact that not everyone is partial to the competitive scene, or even multiplayer for that matter. In fact, the pros that you speak of are in the minority!

My online experiences with Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection and 6 were less than stellar. Most people didn't even communicate, and it was not uncommon for players to resort to using cheap characters or tactics to secure a win. Like I said, you're really not missing much in this regard!

You literally referred to MP in your post...
What do you want people to communicate about exactly? your playing a fighting game that lasts 3 minutes max.
Cheap characters, cheap tactics? Don't lament multiplayer into this type of hell hole just because it doesn't suit your ultra specific requirements.

To put it simply, it's a self-fulfilling prophecy if people refrain from purchasing the game on PC because of the lack of online users.

If you read my post correctly, you would see that I was trying to encourage people to consider the PC version, since organizing games with like-minded players would be comparatively easier, owing to the use of Discord, Teamspeak etc. You're much more likely to find a better class of opponent that way, instead of relying on matchmaking, especially on consoles which are notorious for griefers and trolls. It's not just a generalization!

If you've dismissed the PC version on the principle that the community is much larger on the PS4, may I suggest you head over to the console thread? If you haven't, then why not advocate the idea of a Tekken 7 channel on OcUK's Discord? Perhaps I'll see you on there for a bout or two!

I was just really disappointed that just as I was starting to get into the game and master some of the characters - the single player campaign ended with just a couple of lines of text to represent that the game was over. There didn't even seem to be significantly unique endings for each character and therefore there was no incentive to keep playing...

Like I said, it isn't reflective of the Tekken series. It bears very little resemblance in actual fact, save for the use of Tekken's characters. It's a watered down version of Street Fighter IV with tag team elements, nothing more.

It's evident that Capcom have lost touch with the Street Fighter series. The fifth game was released unfinished, and it's riddled with poor design choices.

Tekken on the other hand has maintained it's usual standard, and the PC version of the game is reportedly very good in the technical department.

I never bothered with Tekken vs Street fighter game. It looked poor to me and as you said based on SFIV. Also it has that horrible games for windows live thing.

Even though I personally am enjoying SFV more than I ever did SFIV, it could be a lot better. It has improved a lot since release I would say. I have unlocked 3 characters, 3-4 stages and one character costume (younger Ken) with the FM I get from weekly missions. Not interested in the new characters one bit, I only unlocked the old characters. I think this season it will be all new ones so I have been spending FM on stages. Next one I will unlock is Vega's stage. Only 3 left to unlock I think anyway will do them then save up for season 3 characters :)

Yeah I remember playing and enjoying Tekken on the PS1. So what's the deal with the new release in terms of single player - is there a story to play through or does each character have their own story and unique ending? I need some sort of incentive like that to get any longevity out of the fighting games.

Yes thanks, I hace been reading steam reviews and everyone saying it's a great port.

Looking forward to picking this us.

Yes, there's a fully-fledged storyline which is told from the perspective of a reporter who is investigating the Mishima Zaibatsu and G Corporation.
You get to play as different characters throughout, and you also unlock character-specific episodes.

Sweet, sounds a bit like what they did with Injustice and the 2013 Mortal Kombat. I'd definitely enjoy that - not an over £20 purchase for me though so I'll sit tight for a while...

Tekken 7 Quick review from a per

Review from Person who has not touched Tekken since Tekken 3?
1/10

  • destroyed the Tekken down to earth fighter by adding silly gimmicks of demons tigers & plasma balls. /stupid
  • No Ultrawide Support, black Bars
  • Locked to 60FPS
  • Fighters are all far to Heavy, and the delayed in their action
  • Silly Random SlowDown mode every so often in fights.

why does every company destroy Fighters?
Street Fighter was always silly, but now its Wallet Killer & heavy Fighters
Tekken Silly gimmicks, & slow Downs
Mortal Kombat - Decent game terrible port.

i guess virtual Fighter or Dead or Alive maybe the only ones left? but not tried them in years either...

when we get a normal down to earth Fighter with no flashy effects or silly mechanics like rage art or Superdooper mode???

Refund Requested

Tekken has always had gimmicky characters, even as far back as the original. Kuma was in the first game, Alex and Roger in the second, not to mention Angel and Devil etc. They even had ranged projectiles back then also!

The rest you have listed is largely preference, or just outright trivial, and certainly doesn't warrant a 1/10!

they did, but they was few and far between, now theirs a larger amount. the devil i can put up with but the random tigers & flashy Rage art by all characters is just to much gimmick. what now all characters are special??

1/10 is harsh, i agree but, i was expecting so much more from this

not to have these in 2017 is pretty bad:
  • No Ultrawide Support, black Bars
  • Locked to 60FPS
These in a fighting game just breaks it for me:
  • Fighters are all far to Heavy, and the delayed in their action
  • Silly Random SlowDown mode every so often in fights.

All right, grabbed the retail as it was cheaper than the key alone:p There's a short manual in the box and a thick plastic card with the Steam code in a holder, will keep the lot just for the hell of it as the boxart is nice:p

I am not having any of his issues and really enjoying it. Just glad it is on PC.

Now we need Soul Calibur and Virtua Fighter on PC :)

Nice. If you or anyone wants an easy opponent to play with online at some point, get in touch via trust and I add you to steam. I also have MKX, SFV and DoA5. I am equally rubbish at them all, but enjoy them anyway. Can t be asked to master combos and stuff :p

In no way is this game a 1/10, even with such nitpicking, let's be realistic. I don't think I can even name a game I played that would deserve such a low score.

Gladly:) I'll just install it in the evening as I'm still not home and have a couple of matches to brush up on the basics. I haven't played a fighting game in years:p

Agreed about VF, that's the only fighter I like more than Tekken. I'd be chuffed to bits if they made VF6.
