Ah ok, I use Bria too. Was hoping you'd found an actual Wifi SIP phone that's worth having.

The Gigaset uses wifi but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

I've tried a few handheld SIP wifi phones and they've all been utter rubbish.

Generally I use the Gigaset paired to a DECT headset.

Just purchased a USG> UniFi Switch 8 POE-150W > 3 x 3x UniFi AP-AC-Lite (and a Cloud Key to rule them all).

I'm in heaven :)

Their live support is also fantastic (accessed from the Cloud Key), very helpful people, I got cut off the other days as my laptop died (then I had to go out) and they mailed me to ask if everything was OK and if I needed anything to contact them!!!! Customer Service is not dead after all:)

^phwoar, the whole hog :D

I've just got the Edgerouter Lite and a AP-AC-Pro, so my dashboard lacks the extra info you'd get from the Unifi Gateway. It's tempting to get one just so I can have those stats :o

Edgerouter Lite is sock solid though, very happy with it. Never buying a standard off the shelf router again.

I did look at the Edgerouter Lite but the lure of pretty dashboard was too much, I'm weak ;)

Can you use the edge router lite with a vdsl connection? If you can im tempted to swap to one to replace my Netgear D6400

Yes, but you need a VDSL modem in place. Either use the Openreach modem (this is what I use), or a Draytek Vigor 130 would work well too.

You configure the ERL in pppoe mode so that tells the modem what the user/pass connection details are.

-Consider the Unifi Gateway (practically same as ERL, with that GUI above!)

I have oneof the orignal Unifi AP's running at home and have just gone and ordered the UAP-AC-LITE from the rainforest for the princely sum on £73 and it will be with me tomorrow. I think I paid more for the original unit when I got it...crazy.

Am now pondering on just doing a straight swap out between the units ot adding this as a second unit upstairs. The house is a new build (2 years old) so walls are plasterboard mounted on metal frame studs and floors are double skin chipboard, so not really a huge amount in the way for signal attenuation. May try it as a straight swap 1st and see how it goes on.

If all goes well with it then may recommend to my brother in law to swap out the ones in his house.

May also look at getting a RPi controller up and running as Mrs S is at work this weekend so have plenty of time to 'tinker'

I need to replace my Asus RT-N66U which is getting a bit iffy so when I can find one in stock I'll be ordering a USG. Should work nicely with the 2 AC-LR's I've already got.

Maybe I'll get a switch too, I need a PoE switch for my study.

Edit - Seems the USG's are in stock just about everywhere except where I checked initally. Ordered!

I've got a UBI-UAP-AC-PRO in a new build and it's been flawless.

Just so you know, the AP-AC-Lite is smaller than the original ones, so you can't use the same mount.. The AP-AC-Pro uses the same mount as the original.

As for the RPi, you can't use the Pi1 as a controller now (without a lot of hassle), the Pi2 and Pi3 should work fine.

Thanks for that mate, we have just got a unfi gateway at work and we are having a few issues with the firewall. Have no idea how to setup firewall rules on them as the documentation is lacking on them

I got two pro's in the new house, but debating if I want an outdoor on the external garage to cover the garden etc.
or put another pro in the garage and see if that covers the garden

hmmm....

TIP :Please make sure the USG had internet connectivity (PPoE) before you try and adopt it to your Controller, otherwise it always tend to fail adoption

The extra LAN port on the back and the improved wireless performance/reach
