I do but it’s wired chime.

As above that image looks correct. The power is the trigger, the batteries power the wireless relay to the chime box. The trigger power is only on for a fraction of a second.

I've not ordered from the UK store but a colleague ordered some SM patch cables from the EU store. They were fine, nothing to complain about.

Edit - You mentioned FS so I possibly incorrectly assumed you were talking about fibre patch cables. Other than DAC, I've no idea what the Ubiquiti copper patch cables are like.

Copper patch cables. I've used FS cables before. Hate their SFPs at time as they jam in switches I've worked with before as their heat tolerances aren't clearly as good as OEM, plus seen other issues.

Following an issue with an FS product, I'll be ordering some Unifi cables later this week.

Never had that issue with FS SFPs and I've been through hundreds. There's also not really such a thing as an OEM SFP - the ones with a Cisco sticker on aren't made in a Cisco factory, they are just a way to keep margins high if someone wants to offer discounts on switches.

We exclusively use FS SFP's. I had a batch of Cisco branded QSFP28's which were either dead on arrival or died within a few weeks. The FS units I replaced them with whilst the Cisco reseller was being hopeless at deal with the RMA have been perfect.

Very true re kit churning out of similar factories. Got 100 QSFP28 Cisco units sat in a cupboard at moment lol

Anyway, will order the unifi cables later this week.

I have a couple of AC Lites and both have coil whine, louder when under more load. Having moved one to a quiet room it's quite annoying. Seemingly a good excuse to upgrade... are there any issues with coil whine on U6 Lite, LR or Pro?

I’m not aware of any coil whine issues and I wasn’t aware the AC Lite suffered from coil whine issues. I’ve personally sold several thousand UniFi access points and although they do fail I’ve never had a customer report any whining from an access point.

Following the refund on the STP U6-Pro, time to look at another one, my understanding is that the issue re the batch was small and since resolved?

That’s what they say. Personally, I always go U6-LR or U6E just because I think they’re better for most peoples actual needs rather than a fluffed spec. Obviously, if you benefit more from very modern 5GHz clients then U6-Pro is better but if you’re using IoT a lot and a mix of clients, for me U6-LR is the better device and if you’re going with ultra-modern WiFi6E clients the U6E is currently the only game in town if you want to stay in the UniFi ecosystem.

UniFi do a nice rack but it only works with their kit, you might be able to get a shelf though. If not I highly rate Penn-Elcom racks (I have an 18U one).

SE and a switch will be fine in a cupboard.
Went for a 9U Penn-Elcom rack (double hinge, maybe not worth but seems good :D)

Tried googling this and getting very few UK based answers. Is having it in a basement bad idea in UK that could reach freezing temperatures?
Undecided on there/attic and probably lastly in office

G4 doorbell up and running, quite like it. I've also got a janky* temporary solution for my UDM SE. WiFi 6 giving me decent speeds from the U6 Pro. But like my previous WiFi 5 setup, falls off a cliff when in thr garden. Hopefully the correct placement for thr AP (currently sat on top of a suitcase) will help. But I might need to add another AP in the kitchen or outside. Next issue is how best to fit this all in a network cabinet under the stairs.

Nice, how are you finding it?
Only ordered all the gear today, should arrive monday and moving into new house towards end of next week!
The Penn-Elcom stuff seems good quality from the site and has a good aesthetic (as much as you can have on a network cabinet lol)

USG3+8port switch is most complex I've had thus far so will be a big step up.
Any idea on the concerns of running in a potentially cold/freezing basement in winter?

Honestly, not sure but I'd be concerned about moisture and the cold won't be kind to HDDs if you are intending on running any.

I'd love to move my lab kit to my garage but moisture/dust/cold worries me.

I located mine in the loft and it’s been ok. Fans ramp up on the firewall, but temps stay ok. Temp controlled extractor on the top of the rack.

Running the kit in a basement won't be an issue, just make sure you leave it running. It won't ever get cold enough to cause a problem if you don't shut it down.

Great - i've seen quite a few complain about AC Lite coil whine online but less so with other devices. Mine are quite old. I've ordered a U6-Pro anyway so will find out shortly!

U6 Pro now recevied. It maxes out my download speed at 600mbps and most importantly is all but silent while doing so!
