*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

Moving home soon and thinking of moving on from USG4 + need more than 8 port switch.

Looking at UDMSE+Pro24 switch (maybe PoE, need to think hard and be realistic on this lol) and 2x AP
Anyone know how hot these two can run and the sort of noise generation?

Have the option of attic/basement/office placement for them. Office obviously ideal for ease of access but concerned about noise and adding to heat in summers (although free heat in winter perhaps)
SE is quiet and the Pro 24 non-POE is silent.

Thanks Chris.
Pro24 PoE noise levels based on amount of power being used for devices on POE or generally just loud?

Any idea how much they'd add to ambient room temperature?

Bombardment of queries but any suggestions on racks? I can't see me needing more than 6U (Above+power strip+patch+extra space for Pi/Hue Bridge)

UniFi do a nice rack but it only works with their kit, you might be able to get a shelf though. If not I highly rate Penn-Elcom racks (I have an 18U one).

SE and a switch will be fine in a cupboard.

Yeah that UniFi rack is aesthetically please (to me, perhaps not my partner :D) Having it open like that invites more dust and noise leakage I suppose is my only concern.

I shall take a look at Penn-Elcom, cheers.

UDM Pro / 16 port POE switch / 10gig Agg Switch are all basically silent.

POE switch is running 4 cameras and 3 access points and a USW-Flex mini.

Yes, I posted about power usage earlier in this thread.

USW-Enterprise-48-PoE ~40w idle
USW-Enterprise-24-PoE ~25w idle
USW-Enterprise-8-PoE ~22w idle

I can't recall what the AGGR Pro uses at idle now, I'll have to look at the PDU.

The reason for going with the USW-Enterprise-48-PoE was I had a USW-Enterprise-24-PoE, 2 x USW-Enterprise-8-PoE and a few other little switches around. So I have condensed it all down, and re-done a number of cable runs so overall I have a reduced footprint. I also have them on a switchable (APC) PDU strip so if they are not needed they can be remotely turned off. The other thing as well even though a minor point is not all the ports on the USW-Enterprise-24-PoE are 2.5 GbE.

Glad I found this again as I was considering an offer on a 3 month old USW-Pro-48-POE and I assume they're about 40w idle.

I’m not sure what’s going on with UBNTs quoted power budgets on these switches.

Enterprise 48 has 48PoE+ outputs with a PoE budget of 720W
Enterprise 24 has 24PoE+ outputs with a PoE budget of 400W
Pro 48 PoE has 40 PoE+ ports and 8 PoE++ ports with a PoE budget of 600W
Pro 24 PoE has 16 PoE+ ports and 8 PoE++ ports with a PoE budget of 400W.

PoE+ is up to 30W per channel and PoE++ is 60W per channel so something isn’t right somewhere.

2.5GbE is slightly more power-hungry than 1GbE and still that shouldn’t affect the PoE outputs so I suspect the Marketing Department is at work again….

Any one got a Honeywell door chime working with a Unifi doorbell? Trying to make sense of how to wire it all together....

I thought the CR2 battery powers the convertor? But the diagram has it wired up.

Edit - thanks, think we're good now.
