Boo ;)

I had the same issue with my Cloud Gateway Ultra, I had no internet coming from my VM router in bridge/modem mode but after a bit of head scratching, a reboot of the VM router solved that issue and it must've still thought it was talking to my old TPLink router.

Yeah, if you're using a VM hub in modem mode then you always have to reboot it when you change the connected equipment as it "binds" to the MAC address in some way.

I'll still with my £650 Mikrotik.

Why do you need glowing lights on an aggregation switch, you're not meant to be sending off remote hands to poke things in the flashing red hole.

That is actually what I've been after, once the asterisked features are delivered rather than promised. Bit pricey though. I'd be happy with the 10Gb aggregation switch if they could deliver the same software features as that new one has.

I dunno, after working with some remote hands in DCs with failed SPFs / New installs I could see it making things easier. However, I wouldn't run UniFi in the DC until they have been a bit more tried and tested.

You can get the cables with the light on them, we had them when I worked at a college, used to love tracing the cables in the dark just because I could. No idea what they cost though, we just had to use our budget to the penny each year, and we made sure we did haha.

Hello,

I am currently on VM 500 meg using their Hub 5. I am now looking to add more functionality and put that hub in modem mode and get a Cloud Ultra Gateway router and pair that with a U6 pro AP with a poe injector.
Question: Has anyone done the same and is the U6 pro going to provide the same or better Wi-Fi coverage/quality comparing to the VM hub 5 which does cover my house pretty well for our needs.

Thanks,
kannanni

That's my setup, VM hub 4 though, with the VM hub in modem mode to a Cloud Gateway Ultra into Lite 8 PoE switch powering a U6 Pro. The U6 Pro is in my downstairs living room facing upwards on a 3D printed stand, was a temp measure but works so well I'm not changing it, covering the whole of my 2 bed, brick, house. The WiFi coverage is better than my Hub 4 ever was and is better than the TP Link router I used for a few years until I move to Unifi earlier this year.

Your mileage may vary.

Extremely nooby question incoming as I'm well versed in networking stuff. I was looking to purchase a UniFi Express & Switch Flex Mini. I have optic fibre with Plusnet, could I completely replace the Plusnet Hub Two router with the UniFi Express? (not run it in addition to the existing router).

Your fibre will connect to an Openreach ONT wall box usually. If that's the case then it's a matter of taking the network cable that goes from the ONT to your (current Plusnet Hub) and plugging it into the Unifi Express. You will have to set up the Express with the correct login info for Plusnet so make a note of your username and password. You may also have to change the connection details ie is it PPoE, DHCP. A quick google should give you that info.

Ok so I'm configuring a new deployment using a pair of U6 Mesh APs.

Both are wired so my question is, do I disable the Mesh option on the APs or leave it on Auto?
