have they fixed the Planes to be able to be played with use of a joystick yet?

there just seemed something wrong flying planes with keyboard and mouse compared to joystick. Shame as I did enjoy this game.

Tanks are great though a lot more skill based than WOT something satisfying about kiting and destroying Russian heavy tanks (or anything really) in a small American Stuart :)

They need to drop KB&M from RB ;) Then that would "fix" it! KB&M should only be for arcade imo.

yeah you can use joystick in RB if you want, but you'll get stitched up as if you do you can stall and over G your plane but if you use kb+m the instructor is on and cannot be disabled, this means everyone using kb+m gets an advantage.

Yup, its either your shadows or hdr bloom or some pap, i was getting it for ages, will check now and find out

e: it must be extra anti aliasing as thats the only option ive got unchecked

Cheers man! Seems stable without the AA. Phew.

Back to hunting with my T34's.

Sadly this game is so biased its ridiculous.

Now don't get me wrong I LOVE the game. But having spent some time playing russian (started in german), in comparison its blatantly biased!

T34's from BR 2.7 upwards WTF! Now i know when it came out barring tactics and radios etc that limited its effectiveness it was the best tank in the world. HOWEVER the BR system is not about what it was matched against at the time. Its supposed to be a fair levelling system so tanks from different nations at different times can have a level playing field. All the germans have at BR 2.7 is short barrel stugs and panzer 3's and marders. None have the speed, armour and (to a lesser extent) punch of the T34. Its just better!

And what about the KV1 at BR3.7. 76mm gun (not particularly hard hitting), but the armour is MEGA. You can soak up HUGE amounts of damage. All you have at 3.7 in Germany is mid range panzer 4's which hit hard but the armour is so weak. Its pretty tragic tbh.:o

Who would be up for a 2.3 BR Golden Eagle wager squad sometime? I know Panther is interested (when he has some more atleast).

You'll struggle ;) Golden Eagle 'wagers' (or matchmaking abuse as I prefer to call them) need to have at least 1 vehicle of Tier 3 in them. So the lowest you can manage for planes is BR 2.7, and for tanks I'd say it would be BR 3.3, using the American CGMC anti-air halftrack and 2 lower tanks.

And no, don't ask my why the smeg the tier 1 Chaika has a higher battle rating than the lowest tier 3 plane. Derp.

Welcome to historical accuracy comrade! :D

However, don't be too quick to discount the Marder 3H. Unlike its' other stablemate it doesn't fall over whenever it sees a corner, and even the stock ammo hits like a truck and makes T34's cry. Just don't use it like a T34, use it like a mobile AT gun, in support of other tanks and you should do well. (Also take out the SdKfz 6/2 at 3.0, for much trolling with many penetrations by 37mm!)

right, artillery inbound.

Of late as a squadron we seem to have drifted apart significantly, be this due to different real life priorities or commitments so be it, however I think it's time to come to a head with all of it.

We all have different preferences with regards to battle types, battle ratings, etc. however this seems to be creating much tension at times.

Due to this, I'd like to see more of the regular players squadding up where possible, teamspeak isn't essential at all it just helps, and that means we can get more squads playing with different vehicle choices that people can play, just bang an invite up in squad chat and then you can see if people are interested.

At the end of the day we're all playing for fun, having people playing on their own due to differences in BR's defies the point of being in a squad, theres enough of us to sort each other out.

As I am 'all but gone' from war thunder (apparently, 7 days a week) I shall mainly be dominating the 6.7 tanks tier and anyone who fancies it feel free to join me.

Nyet Russki bias comrade! :D

Downloaded last week and getting into it. Any tips from the veterans? Started with the American tree but it seems I should have gone Russian. Keeping it on the ground atm.

Well, one top tip would be to join in with the OcUK squadron, and we shall teach you the ways of the War Thunder low-level tankings! :D :p

Apart from that, for the moment one of the best bits of advice I can give is to learn how the Battle Rating (BR) system works, to determine what size/type of enemies you'll face. At the moment if you're still playing reserve (BR 1.0) tanks it won't matter too much, and if you stick with the Americans and unlock a few tanks before you get the M3 Lee.

The matchmaking in Tanks works by putting you into matches of the difficulty of your highest BR'd tank - so for example if you play Germans, and unlock the Stug first and put that in your lineup, you'll have a BR of 2.3 which means you'll be facing up to 3.3BR tanks, and you'll have one tank that can dent them, and 2 others that can chip their paintwork :p

So in short, keep the BR lineups as level as possible - step up from reserves to 1.3's, then 2.0's, then 2.3's, then 3.0's - even if you have to not drive a tank for a bit until you have something suitable to equal it. You'll find sweet spots for various things when you figure it out.

Actual tanking tactics though?

Shoot them in the sides, rear and turrets.
Don't fill your ammo loadout full, and don't bother bringing HE shells they're useless (the less shells you have, the less chance of an enemy shell hitting them)
Don't be a rambo and try and take on their team solo, you'll just die
Work with other tanks to use their strengths to your advantage - to learn what tanks have slow rates of fire, and cover their flanks.
And learn to capture the damn map points.... we get so many rage moments where we lose battles because idiots won't drive 6ft forward into a capture circle :(

Anyway, thats more than enough theory to start off with - just get out there and murder them for now! ;)

Thanks Sir!
Final question, is worth max out the crew from the start. Got a few 1000 gold eagles to use and wonder if its best to max the crew 1st?
